Come out of the band failure closet!

It's pretty fairly accurate if you followed the procedure correctly (Must have your mouth sealed around the breathing chamber while your nose is "clamped shut" so that all air is flowing through, and measured by, the chamber). Like I said, at first I thought "no way is this thing correct", but then I realized that my diest was roughly 90% fast food. No telling how many calories I was consuming daily. Are you able to squeeze in any exercise, ATD? Specifically resistance training? That's what bumps up your resting metabolism (IMO) And.....1000 cals / day is pretty low. I'd think you probably shouldn't be dipping too far below that. Have you talked to a nutritionist?
  2. yeah, if I watch network news, it's usually ABC. I've given up on NBC. CBS is so-so. I'm generally a cable news junkie (Fox news and CNN are usually my drugs of choice, lol)

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Well, to be fair....the cannibalism is more palpatable if it's the "talking M&M's" eating M&M's.

ATD, I believe it was the same. Weren't you talking about sealing off the nose and breathing in and out of a tube (that accuratley measures all your airflow....if you keep the tube sealed in your mouth). That's what I did. The computer that the tube is hooked to measures the % of oxygen that you inhale with the % that you exhale (it's a very small, but measurable difference). Back when I was a respiratory therapist, I ran tests like this occasionally. There are more accurate tests, but waaaaaay more invasive and time consuming. The "bedside" version that I'm talking about is fairly accurate (if the testing person knows what they're doing). For maximal accuracy, the tester should remain in the room with the testee to ensure that the nose stays sealed and the patient keeps a tight seal with their mouth (my nurse left the room during the test....but I knew how it was supposed to go).

So far it's been unseasonably cool in Texas. It's only been in the 90's a handful of times (and it's June!! Unheard of!!).

Thanks, FF. Also....a little off the topic, but is your sig quote (under blog link) from the Foo Fighters?

    It may sound too good

You're right...It does sound too good to be true.
  8. Sure Fox news has some bias. All news have some bias. But here's the thing....Fox news is the only organization that leans towards the conservative. Every other news organization leans more liberal. So the trick is to not swallow anything whole, without thinking about it a little. Personally, I like Bill O'Reilly ok......His show isn't a news show, though. He gives his opinion on current events (sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don't). Same with Keith Olbermann (although I almost never agree with him). It's important to distinguish between news reporting and punditry (although that line is being blurred by the network news organizations). And BJean, I loves ya as a person, but politically.......wow. Surely any reasonable person can't believe a blanket statement like "all republicans do this" or "all democrats act like this". When you write vague stuff like that, I think it makes you seem a little less credible. Watcher, you're trying to prove media bias with YouTube?!? C'mon now....That's like citing The Jon Stewart Show as a credible news source.

    Hi, C2C. Welcome aboard!
  10. Hmmmm....I'd agree the best may have been FDR. Reagan is kinda close, but Iran-Contra fouled it for him (IMO). The worst? Jimmy Carter. What a boob....and he still is.

Froggi, I'm ok with both of those, as long as you don't have any corpses (in either your kitchen or your bedroom). I just realized that was unfair of me. Cannibals may be the last group of people that it's ok to discriminate against. To those of you that are cannibals, I apologize.

It's random if you're talking about both in the same sentence!! Ok, I kinda creeped myself out...

    So...I have this friend...

that's sad, tonya Hee-bert....but I've realized that there are very few people worth investing time in, anyway. For her to pull some lame MySpace drama is laughably pathetic, and makes me think that perhaps you had overestimated how good a friend / person she is (especially if the others in the group are "afraid" of her ire as well)!

Why are people afraid of atheism?

To get the laughter that burns 3500 cal / day, you have to read books written by Jack Handy. Sometimes my abs hurt after I read his stuff.

Come out of the band failure closet!

Well.....like everything else genetic, it's not the end-all be-all. Even with a very high metabolism, I managed to eat myself into a fat suit. If I could burn 6000 cals / day, I probably still would have gained. It was a toxic mind set, where I had mixed up feeling "not hungry" with feeling "stuffed to capacity". I still think a lot of the speedy metabolism was because I had (and still do have) muscle underneath the top layer of fat. Bodyweight exercises are awesome!!

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Yes, lol....actually that is much better. It's the difference between saying "Muslims want to blow up infidels" and "nutjob Muslims want to blow up infidels", or "Jews are money hungry" and "nutjob Jews are money hungry"......get my drift? One rarely defines the group.

Thay test calculates your BRM based on how much oxygen your tissues "comsume" while you are at rest. When I did my test, pre-band, the results showed I have a very high metabolism (It said I could consume, like, 3500-3800 calories a day and still lose weight). At first I thought "bullshit".....but the more I thought about it, the more I realized just how much I was eating in a day. That metabolism test really opened my eyes.

Why are people afraid of atheism?

    Why do you think that?

Why are people afraid of atheism?

Wow....that's incredibly offensive. I'm an evangelical Christian who thinks for himself. I believe that God gave me the ability to do so. I've said time and time again that there are nutjobs in every group that you can form, so don't let a few bias you towards the rest of us.
  22. Still waiting for Obama to clarify a lot of his positions. I find it a little curious that for him to be such an magnificent speaker, he has some trouble in debates. I'm curiously waiting to see how this all plays out....but for goodness sake people, let's judge on the policies, not skin color, or "McCain = Bush". Both of those assumptions are wrong.
