This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

I'd tell them the "good food" fairy often flies with the "normal bowel movement" fairy.

posting just to say "I'm back". Were there any especially cool things I missed? Or (as I suspect) did y'all use my time away to discuss the really good stuff?

    Driving after surgery

Well, different strokes for different folks....but if you have a desk job, you'll probably be ok in 3-4 days. The most sore I ever got (and I wouldn't really call it "pain"...more "discomfort") was the day after surgery and the 2nd day out. By days 3 and 4, I felt about 90% back to normal.
  11. No way, BJean....or should I say Lizzie Bordon......LOL Just kidding. Chance of a recurring event depends greatly on what they think caused the ischemia in the first place: Was it arterial plaque that clogged the blood vessels? Were the intestines physically "twisted" to choke off O2 to part? There are a lot of weird random things that could possibly cause gangrenous bowel / colon.....or sometimes it is just genetic. Bottom line is, I don't have a very good answer to your question, but I thought you deserved a reply. And if I can inject a little humor, it's not to make light of your situation (which I know firsthand can be very grave), but to maybe put a smile on your face......even if I have to degrade myself by making very bad puns. So, I'm not a doctor (unless you count my honorary "Doctor of Sexiness" degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences), so you'd be much much better served getting the opinion of the dude that has seen your insides!! Good luck, I'll be thinking of you.

this isnt working for me !

A pound per week is pretty good loss. Right now you probably don't have much restriction (my doc says the average number of fills to get good restriction is around 3...but everybody is different), so you'll have to be careful what you're taking in. Eat only until you're not hungry (as opposed to "full") and eat healthy foods (no junk!!). Eventually you will get to where you have good restriction, but until you get there, use common sense, exercise, and try to be patient (I know that's hard). Good luck!
  14. I hate that mindless political dribble (the kind that comes without references so you can validate....or worse, the kind that deliberately distorts quotes, takes things out of context, etc), whether from the right or the left. BTW sick, even if you are a liberal, I forgive you.
  15. Holy Schmoley!! Are you allright?!? During my ICU stint most of my patients that had gangrenous colon (started off as ischemic) didn't live very long. That can get very bad very quickly.

she's trying to kill my mother

I thought you had to have a DNR to be admitted to hospice (of course, I thought 3 months was about the hospice limit, so...).
  18. Heehee....you certainly have been in the powder room!!
  19. People vary waaaaaaay too much to even be able to approximate this answer....It'd kinda be like asking "how much weight do people lose with lapband" (responses from very little to a ton). There are very thin people that are maxed out on BP medicine. On his "interest"....the way most BP meds work is by dilating all the blood vessels in the body (even the penis). Bottom line, erections can be very difficult to get or maintain on certain BP meds. Good news is, they make pills for that sort of thing :scared2:
