  1. I am having a hard time losing the weight that I am required to lose. I am under a lot of stress due to school and I feel like it's effecting my weight. I want to know if anyone did diet pills dieting their weight loss management time? My physicians said they would be able to prescribe some but they want me to try the diet for a month first.... I am considering taking the pills only because of the stress. I just don't want it to effect my chances of getting approved for the surgery. Has anyone else gone through this? 2. I don't remember saying I was a stress eater or anything about eating in general in this post???
  3. Just an update. I had my first weight in today, I did lose 5lbs within the first 30 days. My Care team did prescribe me a weight pill I believe it's called topiramate which looking at reviews is not so bad. We talked about it being a tool for right now until it's time for surgery. It's all a self process that I am learning. I am currently a full time medical assistant along with being a full time nursing student so my stress levels are up the roof. As much as I want to be able to stop everything cold turkey and manage my stress issues right away I know it's a process and it's okay to use tools like surgery and pills (temporarily) to help condition myself. Thanks for everyone's feedback. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Hey everyone! So I'm still on my 90 day weight loss management, and my provider has me on a low calorie high Protein diet which I'm sure we all are on. So this is my 3rd week of the diet, I've been really strict with myself and taking it completely seriously. I haven't had fast food or any dessert food in this 3 week period. The only problem I am having is that I haven't really lost weight! I have maybe lost 2-3lbs but it is constantly going up and down. TMI ALERT: Constipation is also being an issue which also effects the number on the scale. So my question is, has anybody else gone through this issue? If so what were some things you did to help. With the way I am eating and basically living off protein supplements and chicken, I thought I would have lost at least 5lbs by now. I have increased my Fiber as well as taking Probiotics but it's not working. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Today was my first day of my 90 day weight loss management! I met with the PA and the surgeon and went over a food plan. So excited!! Even though I'm only required to lose 12 lbs I'm going to try for at least 30lbs for surgery. Went to costco stocked up on good healthy food and Protein bars they recommended went home and meal prepped for the week, and now I feel like im good to go. Taking it one day at a time Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. During my psychic as well as dietitian consult. I was asked, how long have Ive been thinking about the surgery. I answered truthfully and said not that long just at the beginning of the year. But I've definitely done my research on it. Would this answer hurt me in the end when they submit all documents to insurance for an approval? Should I have said a couple of years? ..... 11. Im starting my initial visit this month with surgeon. I am really excited and anxious about this surgery. The only thing I am a little scared about is going "under" I have never had any type of surgeries before and I am just wondering how the process goes as far as them pitting you to sleep and what were some of the side effects some of you may have had? Good or bad experience? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I'm going through them for this procedure. I am a medical assistant for Swedish Medical Clinic now (how I heard about them). Just want to know how it went for anyone who has gone through them? How the process went? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Approval Question.

My Weight loss clinic had to get an approval from my insurance company first before I could be seen. I got "approved" and I am required to do a 3 month weight loss management before I can go into surgery or get scheduled. I just would like some clarification... So after the 3 month WLM you still have to submit to the insurance to see if it will be covered? If you meet the weight loss requirements you can still get denied? How often does that happen? Approval Question.

I live in WA. I work for Swedish Medical Group and have insurance through them. It's a form of BCBS. I am going through my companies weight loss clinic for this surgery. They did say that my insurance does cover the sleeve as well as the bypass but not the lapband (my original decision). I know my insurance covers bariatric surgery, just not weight loss programs (whatever that means). Which might be why the lapband is not covered.... (Not sure). How often do people get denied by there insurance? I will double check on the cap and call my insurance for price. I'm just more nervous of the fact that I might do everything asked of me and I still get denied. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. My goal is to be able to run. I want to be able to do marathons with my boyfriend. That's my number 1. But I have some of the same as you like; -never having to switch chairs because I can't fit -being able to to walk a distance without huffing and puffing -Fitting into my old clothes - Being able to look in the mirror and be happy with what I see. How long was your pre-op process?

My insurance is requiring 3 months of weight loss management. I attended my seminar back in February and scheduled for my 1st initial appointment April 18. Hoping and praying for an August Surgery. Hopefully it will all go by fast. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
