  1. I checked with insurance for the requirements and reviewed the listing for centers of excellence. I also checked requirements for going outside of the network. I wanted to be sure of my options. I then participated in several seminars with different bariatric programs. After the seminars I narrowed my list then did additional research on my top two choices. I made my selection after initial appointment I was impressed with meeting the surgeon day one of my first appointment and he was thorough in my exam and explaining the process and going over my options. I then discussed and set up my clinic appointments with the medical assistant. Day 2 over the phone I spoke with the bariatric coordinator who explained the paper process and allowed me to ask questions. Everyone was nice, friendly, and considerate when I went to the first appointment that I felt comfortable and felt like I was in good hands. I like the fact that they have the NUT office sits in the clinic with them and they have an exercise physiologist working directly with them. It is like a one stop shop. @@sonardms my disclaimer I am not a NUT or a physician but I will try my best to give you advice based on my experience of being sleeved since 28 April 2016. Under my program days 1-14 I was on Clear liquids and two Protein drinks per day. Essentially my daily intake for grams of protein needed to meet at a minimum of 54 grams per day from a supplement. It was advised not to start dairy type products until days 15-21. Recommended Protein supplements under my program: 100% whey Isopure- I like Syntrax nectar - Fuzzy Navel I like Matrix Pure Protein RTD50 Jay Robb Premier Protein-I have not tried but it seems to be pretty popular Quest Protein So I am not endorsing all of these products just giving you an idea of what was recommended to me. I hope something I said helps. Also congratulations and welcome to the losers bench. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I go to the Vitamin Shoppe and get them. Also check out Syntrax Nectars. I like the Fuzzy Navel... It kind of taste like orange juice. Immediately after surgery the first week I had a tough time with the Protein shakes so the Fuzzy Navel was right on! With Syntrax Nectars they have a variety pack that has the various flavors in sample packs so you can try them. I also tried the Isotech Protein drinks and did not like them. I have tried the berry flavor, it is okay cold. It depends on your preference. I am trying the Isopure Protein drinks which I seem to like and lately with the heat we have been experiencing when they are cold hit the right spot and they have a lot of flavors. 7. I am three months out and have three meals a day measured at 2 ounces. I drink two Protein drinks a day (Isopure right now is what I am liking.) I found that I tolerate salmon very well, chicken depending on how it is cooked must be tender. Red meats are not tolerated very well. I love tilapia, but for some reason do not tolerate it well. I do pretty good with sautéed cabbage over cooked, but not cauliflower as much unless I use the rice cauliflower. There is a lot of trial and error. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    ONE must know thing....

I think someone pre-op or considering surgery I would let them know the surgery is a tool and not a miracle worker and that they would have to want to commit to some lifestyle changes for success, but it can be done. Post op I would let someone know this can be challenging but if they stick to their plan and follow the guidance of the surgeon and NUT they will find success. Drink lots of water! I would also let them know whether pre-op or post op ask lots of questions to caregivers. I would also tell them to enjoy the changes and have fun! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
