I had bad breath for about a week after surgery but it's better now. My tongue was coated with gunk. Mouthwash helped some.

June 27th surgery here. I was allowed to start full liquids today but the plain yogurt I had did not agree with me one bit. I've also been on my period so I was a cranky uncomfortable mess. On the plus side I finally popped today so hopefully I'll be a little less uncomfortable. I just want to be able to walk without feeling like I'm doing the "pregnant waddle"

Oh, those heparin shots! I had 3 when I was in the hospital, the bruises are HUGE! I also had 3 IVs infiltrate, so I have huge bruises from those because of the heparin. I feel a LOT better than I look!!

I too was very gurgly in the first several days but it does pass. My bowl movements were interesting too. The gas was so uncomfortable.

Hi everyone. Well I can't believe I will be day 9 tomorrow! Have been able to get in liquids and Protein in from the start. Have not had any changes to my taste buds and have lost 8 lbs. I am still swollen and have a huge bruise on my lower right stomach that had me little worried, but doctor said it was likely from the blood thinner shot they gave me in the hospital before they discharged me.
Today I had some Tomato Soup and it filled me up quickly. Had to stop after a few oz. Was so full and stayed that way for 3 hrs. Took me a minute to realize I needed to stop eating. Good lesson to pay attention to my body.
    That is my update!

I am 4 days post op. I have very little pain. Had to do the dye test 3 times so three times the dye which made me very sick. At first cold hurt but it's getting easier to get down. Popcicles are my friend right now. It seems to be the only thing that does not hurt going down. It's getting easier and I know day by day it will only get easier. I have lost 20 lbs since I started my pre op diet and through surgery. Good luck to you all.

I did, especially around the time Shark week started. I felt unhinged for a few days there. It will pass. Try not to make big decisions right now.

Only in the sense that I am excited the surgery is behind me, I am thrilled for what the future holds, and I can't wait to have a new fun wardrobe.
Don't focus on what you can't do. Remember why you had the surgery. Write down or say three things everyday you are grateful for. Gratitude helps change feeling down. Just try it.

Has anyone out there that has gotten the procedure had heightened emotions since? Literally everything gets to me and I cry. I cry bc I'm cold...bc I'm alone at home, because I feel like I'm not fun anymore and can't do fun things with my fiancée anymore right now....I'm just an absolute mess.

Well, I'm less than two weeks post-op, and I walked for an hour. I got 2.6 miles under my belt. It felt good, but I had a few stomach spasms afterwards. One more week, and I move on to puréed foods! Everyone, keep at it. It gets easier as you go.

I use gene pro and like it. I am a super picky eater but it doesn't bother me. I have added it to broth (warm, not hot) and also to a cup of cold unsweetened tea. With the tea, I could tell a little bit of powderiness to it but it didn't affect the flavor. I don't know if it's 30 grams--I was thinking its 20--but it is only one tablespoon which is pretty easy to mix in.

Hello all. Just had my first post op appointment. I have to say today is the first day I feel back to normal. I've been cleared to go back to work tomorrow! Also things taste good again. My dietician told me about GENEPRO by Musclegen Research. It's completely tasteless and instantly dissolves in liquid or you can put in anything... 30 grams of Protein per tablespoon!! I can't wait to try it! It will make protein goals so much easier. I was where some of you are now and I promise it gets better. This will be worth it!! Take care everyone.

I went home on full liquids, tried the shakes and took myself back to clear Isopure for a day. What kind of protein water are you drinking? I did pretty well with the Isopure, 40g for a bottle and it helped with getting fluids in too. The shakes are definitely heavier and harder on the sleeve, at least they were for me.

I had mine on the 21st and yesterday (Day 8 post-op) was the first day I didn't have pain every single time I swallowed anything...if you can drink without pain, you just need to sip sip sip sip sip as often as possible. I was always a water gulper so it's been a tough adjustment, but I've learned what an okay size is for a sip of water and I don't want to feel that pain so it's been fairly easy to stick to I'm supposed to get as close to 90g protein as I can every day, I'm getting about 60g most days but I think now that the pain is subsiding I'll be able to get more. I had oatmeal for the first time this morning, yay!, and it didn't upset my stomach at all. I'm cooking a potato now to give that a try. Just keep sipping, it's the only way to get all that Fluid in. Good luck!

Since we aren't supposed to be doing anything crazy one of the things I have been doing is a water bottle in each hand and doing arm exercises. It helps me with the gas too and they said if you have a stationary bike at home to do a few minutes of that. I do have one. Also - house work uuuggghhhh lol but it is exercise. So I've been doing all my dishes by hand so I have to stand and sweeping instead of lifting the vacuum and laundry lol so not fun. Bet the mall is sounding better isn't it....

Two people at work had a pain button and were getting morphine. I had the sleeve and hernia also. I didn't get a pain button or morphine. I got IV pain meds. Dilauden I wonder why? If you are getting gas in the shoulder its Phrenic nerve pain and can be relieved with warm tea or warm drinks and a warm shower. It can come and go for about 5 weeks. Happens when we drink and eat now as it forces that gas back up. So weird. I can relieve mine now with the tea, the showers or the heating pad. Jealous of your pill swallowing. I would love to get to do that. My surgeon said I have to crush for at least 6 weeks. Apple sauce and pills mmmmm I'll never look at applesauce the same way after this lol

I am doing protien shakes. Premier has 30 grams of protien so I have 2 a day. I also have some EAS brand and they are good and not quite as thick. Both of those are 11 oz. The protien waters I have don't give as much bang for the buck.
