  1. @@Maggie143 checking to see how you are doing. Hope you are on the mend and can join us here again soon.

Hello you crazy people! You are all doing so well. I haven't checked in as I still am not myself and not even back to work yet! I thought after all this time I would be feeling better but still can only stomach a few bites at a time and feel awful for hours after. Don't want to discourage anyone as my situation is unusual and not what most people will be experiencing. Waiting to feel good again so I can add something constructive too!

Glad you all are doing so well and I'm proud to see all of you progressing like rock stars! Keep up the good work and sending me those positive vibes xo

  2. I am having fun on the soft foods stage. Had a chicken sour cream enchilada without tortilla, meatballs in a very light gravy, banana, guacomole, topping from nachos, and I have so much more to try. Have company visiting for weekend and eating out lunch and dinners. Protien shake in morning and afternoon.

@@Maggie143 hope you are feeling better and hope to hear from you soon!

Thank you for the well wishes. Will be checking in when I can. Glad you are doing good and sorry about Jury duty - uuugghhh the nice thing is that will put a jump start on your metabolism again and you will probably lose some more quickly! Keep up the good work <3

  3. Hey you guys! So nice to see you are all still here and making great progress in your diets. I have been really sick and in the hospital and unable to communicate with anyone outside of family. My sleeve surgery went great in June but I had other complications following that, that caused some additional surgeries and I'm really too weak to do much at the moment. Can't eat or drink really and that is affecting my sleeve. I was doing so good in the beginning! Keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I could use some of that mojo for a quick recovery.

So proud and so happy to see you are all still here and making great strides. Keep up all the good work. Will check in soon. xo <3

  4. Going out on date night with husband tomorrow and I'm extremely nervous to eat at a restaurant! Booked a seafood place which seems to be the most sleeve friendly option...just nervous about the whole experience, I guess!

My nut had given me some sites to go to when you are ready to dine out. I can't find the list. The only thing I can find is Healthydiningfinder.com I hope that helps some people before they decide to go out to a restaurant. Don't forget to bring your card as it makes it easier to order small portions and I think you might get a discount.

Suzzzzz can you please post the riccatta bake for us? I can't quote to get your attention here because my iPad stinks. Would love that recipe, sounds so good! Thank you

    Shelly's Baked Ricotta

    8 oz of Ricotta cheese

    1/2 cup grated Parmesan

    1 large Egg, beaten

    1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning

    salt & pepper to taste

    1/2 cup Marinara Sauce

    1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan, beaten egg, seasonings together and place in a oven proof dish. Pour marinara on top and top with mozzarella cheese. Bake it in the oven @ 450 for about 20-25 minutes (best) or nuke it till hot and bubbly. heat the leftovers in the microwave

    Thank you! Looks yummy!

  5. Today is my 2 weeks mark! My checkup isn't until tomorrow afternoon but I've gone ahead and tried some puréed bean Soup and some mushy carrots. Both were good but neither filled me up. Still better than just broth and Protein drinks! Headed to the grocery store to stock up on items. I can't do eggs or any meat for two more weeks. But I am still excited to add grits and oatmeal and yogurt lol. My scale says I am down about 19-20 pounds. I was hoping for more but I know it will come off.

Was this homemade bean soup or store? I would kill for a good black bean soup or bean soup recipe that is tried and true. I would like to learn to make it myself. Sounds so good. Is the oatmeal baby food flake oatmeal or regular oatmeal. I'd kill for some of that....

  6. Oh no! I just tried my Protein Shake I loved before surgery and now it tastes like burned chocolate Water. . I heard your taste buds change, but so they go back?

I am not sure everyone experiences the change in taste buds. I did and I am. I think they go back and if I have to have another shake I might lose my mind... but the motto here is.... what doesn't kill you makes you thinner! I know that might suck right now but things are constantly changing. You might go back to loving them again before you know it ;)

  7. Hi everyone! I'm not a sleever but had RNY on 6/27 so I've been lurking your group a little bc we don't have a similar group and with you all being on the same timeline as me, it was nice to see some shared experiences. Plus, y'all are a really nice group. I did want the sleeve but had to go RNY for major GERD issues. I found it really interesting that a lot of you are having cravings bc one of the advantages of the sleeve is that when they remove the large portion of the stomach, the evil hunger hormones go away. A few of your posts are cute and funny and I'm wondering if it's actual cravings or just missing the act of eating. I literally could care less about food and, in fact I'm worried that when I go see my surgeon at my 1st post op tomorrow, he's going to put me on soft phase and I don't feel ready. Always, you're a fun group and hope you don't mind me lurking to see what everyone is going through. Congrats to us all for making a brave decision to take back our health!

Hi there! Don't be a lurker - join the party. you never know who is going to learn from you. When I started this I didn't even think people would answer me... then the nicest bunch of people started showing up one by one. Every day I laugh and I also see really good advice and things to prepare for or ask my doc about. I'm glad you are lurking and glad you are here! Welcome to the nut house ;)

  8. My surgery was June 29th, I have not stepped on the scale yet. I'm feeling better but still having pain to left side of my abdomen. I'm able to tolerate cream Soups and some of the Protein shakes. I also found an unflavored Protein Powder by unjury that gives 21g of Protein per scoop and I add to my soups and drinks like crystal light or my other Protein Drinks. This helps to boost my protein intake. How long those the pain last?

If its gas pain its going to come and go for a few weeks most likely but you are swollen from the surgery so that could last a few days. I hope you feel better soon. I was having pain too and took a little bit of tylenol liquid and I felt a lot better. Ask your doc ;)

  9. I can guarantee you won't even think about what your family has in the house or refrigerator because you aren't going to want any of it. You just turn off. You have to sip sip sip and walk of course and don't worry about making all your goals the first week as your stomach will be swollen and you won't be able to get in that much. The following week you will want a Protein shake and premiere has 30 grams of Protein at 11 oz. So take your time with them and Water in between. your main goal is to not dehydrate which will send you back to the hospital. Your are supposed to build up to the goals you were given. Be good to yourself. You don't want to hurt your new pouch which will be somewhere around 2 ounces. Pay attention to your body and stop when you had enough.

  10. I had to laugh this morning reading the posts. Its nice to know we aren't rowing the boat alone and we are all dreaming of chewing and saltier, savory days ahead. What happened to my sweet tooth? Too much of a good thing, I guess really is a bad thing ;)

John Bamber - could do that Soup - thanks for the heads up! A half a cup would meet my not over 6 gms of sugar soup requirement. I will look for that. I tried light chicken alfredo soup last week and lobster bisque. It was sooo gross. I couldn't get past an ounce.

  11. Another thing that keeps me motivated... I'm looking forward to foods I know that taste good that are within the diet/specifications. There's a great low-sodium Tomato Soup I'm really excited for.

What is the Soup - details please. I've been looking at the Tomato Soups and they are all pretty high in sugar so I have stayed away from them. I'd kill for some. The stuff they had me on before surgery was the worst tomato soup I ever had in my life. I couldn't even get past 2 of them... uggghhh powdered and terrible...

  12. My surgeon originally suggested 6, I'm taking them even if some of it is vacation. There are times when I am still weak and working in a busy office I don't often get to eat on time, I lift heavy boxes of files and do a lot of sitting which is bad for my stomach. My surgery was the 21st of June. I haven't had a quiet day since I've been home. I could use some rest! Be smart and don't over do it.

  13. Omg I was just writing on here about "head hunger"...mine is INTENSE!!!! We ordered pizza (my fav food) for our fireworks party last night and I was DROOLING about it for hours. I had a tiny bite, chewed well etc...and I was like ehhh. Lol after all of that!! So weird.

Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App

Thats pretty good. A lot of people reporting their taste buds are off and it probably helps that our body doesn't want it and has more sense than our brain... but... I'm still a little jealous of your pizza ;)

  14. I'm day 9 post-op and since the surgery I've been having severe mood swings. I'm angry most of the times and feel like fighting with everyone. Anyone else with this problem? ??

I promise it will pass. So many people are saying the same thing. I had mood swings early on and they went quickly. I hope they do for you too. Now is the time to focus on the positive. We are through most of the hard part and by winter we will be eating like human beings again and thinner too! ;) Think lovely thoughts. xo

I haven't had the mood swings but I'm dreading them...I'm 51 and menopausal, so I'm sure mine will be doozies!

I've been feeling good, I've advanced myself to some foods that aren't on my diet yet, but just doing full liquids was killing me. I've had some refried Beans (HEAVEN!!), and yesterday I had a bite or 2 of chicken salad my husband was eating. As long as I go slow, take small bites and chew well, everything is fine. On the down side, I took my allergy meds a couple of nights ago right before bed, and not thinking, threw down about 8 oz of Water in a few big gulps. OMG. The pain was horrific, and it all came right back up. I have been a much more careful sipper since then :)

I'm thinner, too, down 16 as of today. That's so encouraging for me, I didn't have to do any pre-op diet so my surgery weight was my highest weight. Losing 16 has been amazing, I truly feel lighter already.

Hoping today is another good day...we're going to buy a new car! And our son comes home today from a weekend back at college with his buddies. Tomorrow will be a challenge, I'm sure, all the BBQs and food, but I'll stick with my oatmeal and know that if I do, that scale will move even more. Happy 4th, everyone!

I bought Beans for refried bean and black beans for when they give me the thumbs up. I can't wait. I am so sorry about your Water experience. Its like mine with the yogurt I had. I couldn't help myself. I'm so tired of not being able to chew. Are you having baby oatmeal or regular oatmeal? Congrats on the new car and have fun with your son. That's the best. Let me know how you do during your events. Someone else just said they showed up late to the party and walked around with a water bottle. I thought that was helpful. Kick butt and Happy 4th to you!

  15. Hello! Had vsg on 6/22 - it's been a great experience so far, I'm glad to have been invited over to this board with other June sleevers!

I am not posting my personal info on here because I work in the public eye in my hometown of Cleveland, and am trying to keep things under wraps. The only people who know I had surgery are my husband and my mother! ;-)

I love to hear and read everybody's experiences - I've definitely taken all of the "before" pics and can't wait for the "after" ones. :-)

I'm currently down 13 lbs. from surgery and tolerating soft foods well - I'm on the "Phase 3" diet. It seems like my surgeon allowed me to move quicker through the liquid phase of the diets than what is reflected in other people's experiences on here, I wonder why that is? Has anybody else been allowed to incorporate food into their diet yet (i.e. flaky fish, cheeses, mashed potatoes etc?)

    MY STATS:

    HW: 295

    SW: 286

    CW: 273

Glad you found us! This is the nicest group of people with the best advice and helpful experiences. We are all learning from each other here, so you never know who you are going to help ;) Welcome! Keep sharing.

I'm not allowed to add those things to my diet yet. Have my appt with the NUT and the surgeon this coming week. Fingers crossed. I'm having bouts of crying and am happy although just a little moody and my stomach hurts form over doing it the other day. I still don't want anything to eat or drink but my brain wants filet mignon and chili dogs ;) I have to conquer the brain...

  17. The other day I was craving so bad and had my first very serious hunger pains. I went over board and had 5 oz of yogurt I knew I shouldn't have but I couldn't help myself. I still don't feel good. I don't want a single thing to eat or drink and my stomach is sore. I am doing my best just to get my liquids in. My surgery was the 21st. 11 days in and I am so mad at myself. Something is going on with my leg as well. Thought I had a blood clot and went to get an ultrasound. No clot but I'm in pain. Feels like my vein is tearing out of my skin. I am a little miserable after doing so well. Anyone else cheat and what did you do to feel normal again?

Also for those people going to 4th of July events - its our first holiday surrounded by social fooding. How will you handle that. I want to hear Tuesday when you get back to normal.
