  1. Two months ago I started having a Protein shake for Breakfast since the NUT said that you should find one you like before surgery. Currently I'm using Fitmiss... but I'm wondering if anyone else uses it? I know I'm one of those people that are skeptical when things are cheap. A container of it is only like $28 (lasts 30 days). I'm wondering if it's cheaper because it's not that good? I used to drink Isopure low carb whey, but I was also working out twice a day and did lose almost 80 pounds. It's what my body builder friends recommended, but since I'm currently not weight lifting would it still be a good Protein powder? I mix my protein with Soy Milk.

I have BCBS. I'm kind of bummed because I just called my surgeons office and they said my insurance won't count my first appointment with my surgeon as one of my visits, it's six visits with my general doctor :/ So that adds one more month on to me, making this my 5th visit tomorrow. 12. That's nice. I had to go to one group class with the dietician, then I'll meet with her again right before my surgery then two weeks after. I bet seeing her more often is beneficial.
  13. Wow.. did your insurance co make it mandatory to meet with the dietician that often? I had to do 6 mo of visits, but it was with my general doctor.

    My fitness pal macros

I try to keep my Protein high and match the %'s. Today my carbs are high since I had a lean cuisine for lunch :/
  15. No, I didn't have required weight loss. My doctor told me that what my insurance company is looking for is consistency. That one month I wasn't up.. one month down.. back up.. etc. I've been losing a few pounds just because I've switched to protein shakes for breakfast and sometimes I have them for dinner too.
  16. I had the 6mo required visits also. This week will be my 6th. At first I was also bummed about having to wait, when I had friends that were approved and had surgery in a month. Like you, the time is passing quickly. I'm actually really happy they made me wait the 6 months. I have been using this time to try different protein shakes, train myself to take my vitamins daily (I have always taken them, but can go days forgetting), and learning what foods keep me full that help get my protein needs in.
  17. Following.. I also have BCBS. This Wednesday is my last 6 mo required doctor visit and then they will submit to insurance for approval. I will be so upset if it takes forever or I get denied.

    To "Bypass" or to "Sleeve"?

I am following this post because I too am having the same questions. My surgeon told me either would be successful for me. I have no comorbidities, I take no medications, I have no acid reflux, my insurance covers both surgeries the same. I have been researching like crazy and I'm leaning towards the bypass just because it's been around longer and has more history. I would just hate to go through the bypass, and more things being done to my body if I could have the same result if I get the sleeve. Next week is my last doctor visit for my six months monitoring period, then I meet with my surgeon again to discuss which surgery I chose and get it set up. It's such an important decision.
