  1. Update: 3/13/19 wow it has been over a year since I posted??

I weighed myself this morning and it was 198. I finally made it to ONDERLAND!! ok, barely made it, but I'll take it.

Had a bit of a set back. I gained weight over this past holiday season, but dusted off the books my Nut gave me and went right back to eating well and have lost the 17 pounds I gained. My last post surgery doc revealed that my sleeve grew by 50% and that is my fault. I am drinking and eating too fast. Gotta get to work on that.

  2. I don't think it was the surgery. I had my surgery 10/2017 and it did not magicly make me motivated to work out or eat better or be more active.

How would removing 80% of my stomach accomplish those things? The only things the surgery has done is curbed the cravings and stopped me from over eating which is pretty much as advertised.

To help with motivation, I suggest a support group. My insurance made me go to two meetings and I am glad they did. That was a year ago and I still attend!

  3. Update 1/14/18: I am down to 216, just 6 pounds away from being out of the "Obese" category! I find that the sleeve prevents me from over eating, which is exactly why I chose this surgery. It is performing as advertised. I just have to control what it is that I eat. I can easily get down a slice of pizza, but two? Won't even attempt it. And the beauty part is, I don't want that second piece. One slice, and I am done, satisfied. But that does not happen often, as I tend to eat right and make healthy choices because I feel a whole hell of a lot better.

  4. Update: 12/1/17: Weight: 220.. down from 260 for a total of 40 pounds lost. Thanksgiving was...interesting. I ate some turkey and stuffing and mash potatoes, but what was different was I ate very little of it and felt full much quicker. I feel as if I didn't miss out on anything. I had a tiny sliver of pie and could not even finish it.

  5. I almost did. I told everyone I had gall bladder removed. A few weeks later, had a friend ask who my gal bladder surgeon was because they actually have to have it removed and wanted a recommendation! I just reminded them I had it done in New York City, which i know they were dead set against going to..it is over 2 hours away. So they replied, "forget that!"

  6. 11/13/17..Phase change from all liquid to puree. Yuck. Gross. How the hell am I gonna get through this? Puree is just...yuck.
Luckily, I can have scrambled egg beaters, yogurt and smoothies. So gonna start making smoothies with my Ninja bullet and get through this stage.
The good news is I am down another 5.5 pounds and weigh 229.9. Yeah I know- 230..but 229 sounds better. :-)

I just eat like a normal human being and stay away from crap. Portion Control is key first and foremost in my opinion. Secondly is selection of foods for your specific needs and goals. I prefer a higher Protein, higher fats lower carbs diet, which works well for my needs. Third most important is DO NOT deprive yourself totally. If you want an occasional treat, have it, just dont over indulge.

Stay away from processed cold cuts, sodas, sucralose and anything with the words Frutcose or corn Syrup in it...Also I hate the fact that a lot of these nutritionists push cheeses as a source of Protein on their clients. cheese is high in saturated fat and not worth it as a source of protein in your diet.

Didnt know that cold cuts were bad! Will def stay away from them. And wont have trouble staying away from crap. Thanks for the advice!

Great Job Killian. Do you have a nuts who specializes in bariatrics in place to help when you are able to eat more? Never too soon to begin learning what your best food choices are to make your journey as successful as you want it to be. Hunger will return and you will need to rely on your new eating habits to keep you on track. You can do this.

Yes, my Bariatrics office has 2 in house full time Nutritionists. They see you for a year (or more if you like) post surgery. They teach you what to eat, how to eat, have recipies / suggestions..very happy with them.

You know, I use to say that about my lap band. However, having gained 1/2 my loss back I now know that it's a lot more of yourself than you think! Give yourself credit! You can drink lots of calories and eat lots of things that will "slide" right on through! YOU have to make the choice not to do those things in order to be successful. I know it's just the beginning but you are already do that and you deserve some kudos! :D

All excellent points. Ok, I'll take some credit! Lol
