NeedaBreak4Me replied to TYRey12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You could say... i am on a new health kick and have quit alcohol/sugar/carbs for a while... thats what i have been saying.. usually people leave you alone after trying to convince you to at least have one... -

Biotin will not stop the hair loss.... it will only help slightly to make your hair grow back faster.... Some info onTelogen effluvium: http://www.m.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/hair-loss-women-14/hair-loss-hidden-causes

Well i had hair loss when i had my band.... its not as bad as you would expect.. i didn't end up with bald Patches... just thinner hair.... so instead a hair tie going around twice... it would go around 3 times... This time though... i am noticing it much earlier.... grrrrr i love my hair... but i also know it only lasts a couple of months.. then grows back

I am 12 weeks out from the sleeve, and my hair has started shedding too Its normal... and it does slow down eventually...

Majority of Band to Sleeve Revisions done in two surgeries?!
NeedaBreak4Me replied to SwampBillies's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Here... they are not allowed to do it in one procedure.... there is a minimum wait of 3 months from band removal before you can have a revision. Basically they say it is to allow your stomach to heal and for the area around your band to go back to its original shape. -
Those who drink diet pop post-op {Only nice comments PLEASE}

Whats wrong.. with constantly... using ellipses... i personally like them.... lol I use them frequently because it is easier to use them.... than normal punctuation on my phone when i am quickly replying. Its not a formal document....... do i need to do a spell check and proof read my posts too?.. if so... forget it... i am too busy living my life to worry about some extra full stops in a sentance to please a stranger on a forum... i try my best to use paragraphs and correct my spelling mistakes.. but i am not worrying about it being perfect.. but thats just me P.S.. just realised this post may come across as rude or mean... the tone i intend is a casual one... no meaness intended ???? -

Sorry, but i am curious.... why are you using Protein shakes at 3 years out? Can you give us an idea of what you are consuming daily? Macros? Calories? -
Slower weight loss second time around?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to PaulStephens1975's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Absolutely, as long as i am losing i am happy... frustrated at the slowness... add a metobolic issue, and it gets doubly frustrating especially after hard work and doing the right thing... but its all good... -

Slower weight loss second time around?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to PaulStephens1975's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As an ex bander i am finding weight loss is slower this time around. The reason i did my sleeve is because i officially screwed up my metabolism... so i can't go on higher calories for life without gaining. After major weight loss your body gets "used" to the dropping of major weight.. so the 2nd time around it becomes harder because the shock factor isn't there. Unfortunately as ex banders and as people who have lost large amounts of weight... it will be slower this time around for both of us. I have steadily lost weight, but i haven't lost big numbers each week.. even in the week post op... it has been slow and steady. -
I think I need a good kick in the a$$...
NeedaBreak4Me replied to CHM's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Where do you live that they don't sell ground lamb!... thats crazy.. i love lamb! But i agree with bigviffer.... strength training is more important at this stage than cardio... especially in the tone/loose skin dept.. and it will increase your appetite... There are plenty of strength training you can do using your own body weight and resistance bands... it doesn't need to be weights...YouTube has lots of those types of vids.. what about swimming? Swimming is good all round.. and im always starving after swimming -

You could use beef, Turkey or chicken mince... i don't think that it would be all that different, the spices mask the taste of the meat -
First night home and need help!
NeedaBreak4Me replied to MarieLouise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ah okay... that makes more sense to me now.... i was wondering why a surgeon would allow Protein shakes and not milk... Try the broth.. the warmer temp might be easier... and itll help keep you hydrated... keep us posted on what the doc says -

NeedaBreak4Me replied to MarieLouise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats a good idea.... ask your dr... I'm actually suprised that both of your plans do not allow milk... out of curiosity... what are you supposed to be having? Just Water?... even in hospital we were having milk & thin yoghurt.. its amazing how different plans are! The gurgling is normal... and even till now i still get gurgling... have you tried different temperatures? Do not force it to the point you are in pain... try smaller sips, different temps.. and if your plan allows it... some flavouring to break the surface area of the water. When i was first sleeved, i couldn't drink tap water, it was too harsh... so i stuck to bottled water for around 3 weeks.. and added mint and a little lemon to soften it -
It really depends on you and the hard work you are willing to put into it.... at 250 and being 19.. you have a good chance at being able to limit it... genetics do play a role, as does age.. When i met goal when i had the band.. i had no loose skin, but i followed the rules, did strength training, swimming and kept my skin moisturised and hydrated..and i started early into my wls journey... I think that really helped... some people think they need to drop a large amount of weight before starting strength training... but its better to build muscle early to enable the skin to bind to something

@@MissKay Really? I've never heard that before.... milk is even thinner than a Protein shake. Were you guys allowed to have Protein shakes during your first week? My plan was a lot more relaxed.. we were allowed purees from when we were discharged from hospital -

Drink prior to eating? Lapband patients... ?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to BeachBish's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I used to do this at almost every "daytime" meal..... i would have a small sip of Water to "lubricate" things around 10 mins before a meal. I found i was always tighter in the morning... and this helped... a warm drink helps even more. I never slimed doing this, but don't do it after... or you will slime... -
