Any New Zealand or Aussie members?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to els's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yay! Finally another sydney sleever! All the other aussies are in other states... welcome to the board -
Gina, is it possible to bring your own Soup? Maybe you can bring your own and explain to the restaurant manager prior to your arrival, and ask them nicely to provide you with a bowl and spoon so you "look" like you are having something from there. Don't be too hard on yourself.. she won't care what you are eating, she will be happy to just have you there. Can you get a menu prior, maybe they might have something suitable. I have become a pro at making it "look" like i haven't had surgery as no one knows i had it done... i usually do some light research before i go and decide prior to going so i don't have the stress of trying to figure it out on the spot

Band > Sleeve now what?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Debaria's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think a 3rd surgery for 6kg is a little drastic.... have you tried going back to basics? Are you tracking your food? Reaching Protein goals? Whats your diet like? In my opinion.... 6kg weight gain in 3 years is not bad at all... you can get rid of that with 2 weeks of following your original pre op diet... -

Aussie here! Welcome -
Absolutely, skin needs muscle to "hold" onto... the more muscle you have, the more it has something to grab onto.... yoga is good, there is a misconception that you need to carry heavy weights to build muscle, you can build muscle with any type of resistance training. I like to use resistance bands, i get a good stretch, it increases your flexibility and helps keep things toned... i use them during warm ups and cool downs... every little bit helps

Dizziness and extreme weakness 2 weeks out
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Twinmom07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay... thats excellent.. this is why its important to get your electrolytes... the potassium and sodium in the electrolytes make a world of difference... glad you figured out what it is -
Monthly Vitamin Costs
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Jellybean55's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I buy this one from iherb.. the values are great and it has the absorbable forms of Vitamins in it (methylated form)..it has all the vitamins we need, except Iron. The capsule is bigger than some, but i just cut them in half when i was early out. $22.30 for 60 days http://au.m.iherb.com/Life-Extension-One-Per-Day-Tablets-60-Tablets/67036 The only downside is the calcium content isn't high, and it has no iron so i add them separately (ps. I do not take iron and calcium together, calcium reduces the absorption of iron) I use this iron supplement http://au.m.iherb.com/thorne-research-iron-bisglycinate-60-veggie-caps/52838 $16.13 for 60 days -
Dizziness and extreme weakness 2 weeks out
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Twinmom07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is another post about the same thing... but since you are 2 weeks out... advice will be a little different. Tips Increase your Water .. sip all day.. Increase your Protein Have some electrolytes Take your Vitamins If you are struggling with water... add something to soften it... eg infuse with mint & lemon, sugar free flavouring, cucumber n mint etc... that helps me so much... -
Dizziness & Fatigue (Advice Needed)
NeedaBreak4Me replied to jessjames's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well i went through it myself when i had my band... i learned the hard way.... If you are not getting all your fluids and electrolytes it can happen.... also if you are on Protein only without fats it can also cause it. The others are correct.. it is your blood pressure... but since you have no health issues... you can resolve it. Tips Increase your Water .. sip all day.. Increase good fats Increase your protein Add a small amount of good carbs (carbs from veggies are best) Have some electrolytes on hand for when you feel icky Take your Vitamins If you can manage trial that, i would assume your fatigue will reduce greatly. -
Dizziness & Fatigue (Advice Needed)
NeedaBreak4Me replied to jessjames's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ahh well i was thinking about what you consume... you might want to add good fats to your meals.... fats will help slow down the crash after eating. How far out are you? Are you not having veggies? What you are eating does not sound like it is enough.. are you tracking your food? I am betting your macros are out of balance, and this is what is causing your fatigue... Since you guys don't have Powerade, go to your pharmacy and ask for some electrolytes... they are usually sold in near the tummy stuff for when you have diarrhea. -
Dizziness & Fatigue (Advice Needed)
NeedaBreak4Me replied to jessjames's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It sounds like a low blood pressure problem... you might be low in sodium or electrolytes.... try having some Gatorade/Powerade... see if that helps Also, 1 litre a day is not enough... you should aim for 2 -
Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Food and Nutrition
Its interesting the foods that everyone can not or will not have. We aren't restricted like that... the motto is everything in moderation once you get to goal... and adjusting the rest of your meals to balance it all out whilst in the losing phase. (Personally i think this is a healthy way of teaching good eating habits for life) Sushi is not an issue if you are going to have it once in a while, just don't go having it every week... i am 3 months post op today and i have had a prawn roll... no issues... except that it took me half a day to finish it...2 small bites and i was stuffed. -
2 years out...hair still falling out!
NeedaBreak4Me replied to MizzouFan1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel your pain... i am 3 months out today and i just had a shower... and had a clump fall out... so i can only imagine how you feel at 2 years out. What are you eating? Are you still reaching your Protein goal? Have you had your thyroid levels checked again? -
My stomach
NeedaBreak4Me replied to gettingsleeved1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nice! Well that is the 80%.. makes you realise how small the remainder is and how delicate it is post op I had asked my doc to do the same thing... but he forgot! -
Anyone else set for 4/20 or there abouts?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah... i can understand how people who have been sleeved for years say that we all have the potential for regain if we don't change our habits... i think if i grazed all day on slider foods o probably could easily reach "normal" calories -

NeedaBreak4Me replied to Andi07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oddly enough i feel like i can eat a horse around when my TOTM is due.... then i eat, and a couple of bites i am satisfied... but the cravings don't seem to ease though... but i have managed to stay away from the chocolate lol which is good -

Yeast infections on your skin
NeedaBreak4Me replied to LisaMergs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
*crosses her legs* Ouchhhhhhhh! Bad idea! I hate that nair stuff... i used it in my early 20s... never again... laser and wax for me thank you. Re: fungal infections.. i believe that foot fungus cream is useful too (canesten) or an anti dandruff shampoo with the ingredients below as a body wash is good for getting rid of yeasts and fungus on the skin. Selenium Sulfide Pyrithione Zinc ketoconazole -
Am I losing at a "normal" pace?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to khoney37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on how much weight you lost initially and how long you had your band But generally weight loss is slower the 2nd time around.. for me it is slow, but steady... also being a lower BMI slows it down a little too -
Exercise... build muscle.. try to focus on toning your skin.. get enough protein and fluids... keep your skin in good health by exfoliating and keeping it well moisturised .. all these things helped me when i had my band... no loose skin at all... except the boobs.. they did lose volume... but other than that... no loose skin.

On liquid diet and fainted
NeedaBreak4Me replied to bridgetsband's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would drink some electrolytes.... i always got close to fainting when i was on liquids and i would drink some electrolytes and feel better. Low sodium and potassium can reduce your blood pressure... so it can cause fainting/lightheadedness -
Not losing weight
NeedaBreak4Me replied to tobesleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are exercising 4-5 times a week for an hour and eating 300 calories.. Your body is starving! Increase your calories and i guarantee you will start losing ???? -
Hey peeps... Just wanted to share my NSV for today.. I went shopping today and saw this pretty top.. there was only one size left, i picked it up and looked at it and thought what a shame its too small... i walked around a little more and picked it up again.. and then thought why not, ill try it on anyway since i was going to the change room anyway to try on other tops. On the way to the change room i was trying to justify to myself to buy it and that maybe one day i would be able to fit into it.. in a few months.. So i get to the change rooms and put it on and guess what! It was way to big... so big in fact that it looked horrible! So yay to me!.. this sleeve of mine is finally working! Now my brain just needs to catch up with my body
