    Mthfr folate and b12

Hi I have the MTHFR and this was one of my primary concerns as i react pretty badly to most Vitamins. The NUT suggested that i take Floradix and try and get most of my folate from my food. I find that i can tolerate the floradix as it is natural and mainly herbs and juices. Once i am further out, i will be getting the B12 shot every 3 months.
  2. Are you sure this is an endoscopy?... it seems like this is a manometry test. I had this done when i decided to get my sleeve... They numb your throat and nose and stick a fine tube through your nose into your stomach.... and they then give you Water to sip whilst they test your esophageal pressure. I have never heard of an endoscopy being done without anesthesia.

Hospital stay... To bra or not to bra?

They normally don't let you wear a bra when you are going into surgery and its difficult to put one on because of your IV.... I took a crop top bra with me and wore that (with assistance from the nurse to move the IV) To be honest, I didn't actually care.. but i thought i should wear something so i do not scare the little children lol

    Scale Won't Budge!

Its more like.... may it rest in pieces lol Im close to doing the same thing. .. stupid scales!!
  5. Thats amazing rate of weight loss.... Whats your secret? I wish i could lose that fast... but i know that ill be a slow loser.... 1. I had the band and 2. I had a really clean diet prior to wls.. so i know this slows it down
  6. Lucky you!! How much weight have you lost, if you don't mind me asking? I know we aren't suppose to focus on the scale number but I'm averaging about a pound a day. I feel it's all in my face and not my body lol. I guess I need to just be patient it'll be easier when I notice differences in my size clothing though. I forgot to weigh myself the day of my surgery so the closet starting weight I have is that week before I was 221. Now I'm down to 207. When I first started the program 4 months ago I was at 237 but lost the first 16lbs on my own just by limiting my carbs and sugar. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App I've lost 17 pounds.... i thought it would be much more than that.... but i remind myself that i tried losing that by diet and exercise and lost barely anything. I know from when i had the band, i didn't lose much the first month, most of my weight loss occured month 3... so i have to be patient
  7. Omg!! Best news ever.... I just had my 2 week follow up appointment and ive been cleared for soft foods!!!! Hallelujah!!!!!!!! I was so sick of eating things that resembles cat food!!
  8. Thats good to hear..... I had mine on the 20th... its amazing how much easier its become to get my protein and liquids in... I'm lucky i guess, we started pureed the day we got discharged... I've tried all meats (pureed) and am not having any issues with them. Its actually a lot easier than expected... i hear how most people are struggling, but i havent got any of the issues that anyone talk of. The only thing, i expected to lose much more, but i guess because im a "lightweight" it'll be alot slower for me
  9. Condolences to you and your family. Be strong, you will be fine, allow yourself time to grieve. We are here to support you... if you feel the need to talk...

  11. Hey all... I am 10 days post op... have had a wonderful recovery... no complications.. i am able to meet my Fluid and Protein requirements.. However, i have developed the worst heartburn ever!! I feel like im a fire breathing dragon!! I am on a PPI once a day... and am taking gaviscon... it helps for like 10 minutes.. but then it comes back... I am not overeating and can't seem to figure out a pattern. Did anyone have bad heartburn this early out?? Did it improve with time? Any advice, remedies would be great. I see my surgeon in a few days... but this is ruining my day

    My thoughts

Yeah it is difficult when you do not have the support... but unfortunately in life there will always be naysayers and people who do not understand. You are only 22.. you are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Ask yourself this... do you want to spend the next 20 years battling your weight, diabetes, blood pressure, aching joints etc that come from being obese? Or would you rather do something about it (with or without) support and do whats right for you..... it wont be easy... but in hindsight you will look back and your body, self esteem and health will thank you for it. One thing i have learned... support of your friends and family is wonderful.... but it does not change your journey if you are motivated to change your life.. it only enhaces it.... we can not rely on other people for our happiness.... it comes from within. Feel free to come chat with us anytime... we are all in the same boat... going through all the struggles and victories together (hugs)

    My thoughts

Unfortunately, a lot of us have had the same thing said to us.... me included.... Hell, i even said it to myself.... i even tried, like really tried but can admit i failed, hence why i decided to go ahead with it. I was sick of my weight holding me back, sick of yoyo dieting, sick of my life revolving around my weight, food and clothes. What made the decision for me was that i had lost weight... (with the band) and pretty much gained most of it back once i had it removed... i realised then i cant do it on my own, that i needed help. Initially i was dead against it, thinking its extreme to cut out your stomach for my weight... that i must be so vain to do it when i am only 220 pounds.... but you know what..... i needed it.... My weight holds me back, emotionally and mentally and even socially.... ive been on both ends of the scale (literally)... and my body and health is much happier on the lower end. Do whats right for you... it is your life... your choice... your journey.. your body.... if you are not happy with it.... then it's up to you... no one can tell you what to do... if it feels right... go for it.

  25. Hey all, I am 7 days post op and have not lost a single bit of weight.. down to the gram! I know that i would have Water weight due to the IV etc.... but come on.... no weight loss at all??!!!!!.. nada.. zilch... zip.. ???? Can someone please ease my mind and let me know if anyone else experienced this... all i seem to read is people dropping significant amount of weight during their first week.
