  1. Whoops! I never told you all my name lol. It's Jeanie! :)

Thanks Fran! I'm just reading as much as I can about this. Soaking up the idea of change and looking forward to positive progress. :)

Good morning Jeanie!! Welcome to the group!! :-) Good luck to you as you go through this journey. My best advice to you is to start forming habits now (no drinking after/with meals, small bites, slow down eating, exercise, etc), do lots of research but remember everyone's journey is different and keep in mind this is a tool. It takes a lot of discipline and hard work. Going in, I was scared due to all the scary stuff I'd read online. I haven't experienced any of that scary stuff (gas pain, surgery pain, nausea, dumping, vomiting, etc). It's great to know those things are possible, but don't get too wrapped up in fear because you may not experience those things. We're here for you. It's an exciting journey. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Wish I'd done it 10 years ago.

  2. Ok I'm totally freaking out now about my pre op liquid diet. I start this on December 1st.

How long is your preop liquid diet? I did a 1,200 calorie diet and only had to do two days of liquid diet right before surgery. Try to stay focused on your goals. Liquid diets aren't fun but it's important so surgery goes well. You can do this!! Remember, that liquid diet is only temporary and it's a step closer to your goals.

  3. Lucky do they give you a journal to keep track of your intake or do they recommend one? I wonder how the BariatricPal is?

Nana, you can get one from your dietician. I have a hard time remembering to journal. I've done some on myfitnesspal on my phone and I bought one too. Try to figure out what works best for you and start the habit now. I don't even write in the calories, Protein, etc. I'm just doing the food and amount I ate. And keeping track of Water too.

  4. Hi Tdia and Abbie!! Are you both in Des Moines? I'm in Des Moines. Had surgery September 29th. I haven't had any complications. I'm dealing with the mental stuff mostly. Figuring out how to eat again, how to cook healthy, shop healthy, etc. It's getting easier though. My team at unity point is top notch. I had Dr Lamasters. I've lost 23lbs so far....six weeks out. Slow loss so far. Hoping to join the YMCA soon. If either of you have questions, let us know. We're in this together! :-)

  5. How are you doing Lucky? Have a good week I hope? I called Drs office yesterday and they never received last psych assessment so I called that office and asked them to hurry get it over to surgeon lol. I'll check again on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Nana!! I had a rough start to the week. Battled some depression and stress but I came through it once again. Yesterday and today have been better. I had my 6 week appt yesterday. I was bummed because I'd only lost 21lbs. They gave me some advice so hoping I can start losing better soon. Woke up with a 2 pound loss this morning. I hope I'm past this stall. I need to drink more Water, exercise more and log my food. I do well until my depression hits. I usually bounce back fairly quickly though. I hope they get your paperwork settled soon so you get a date set!! I'm excited for you to start this journey too. Enjoy your weekend!! I'll be stitching all weekend. I need to finish an apron I'm crossing stitching for my mother-in-law before Christmas. I'm such a procrastinator!

  7. I'm hoping they submitted my file for team approval today. I want to call but don't want to be a pain. She said last week it can take a week or two to find out. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you too!! I hope you hear from them soon. Maybe call on Wednesday to see if it's been sent. :-)

I got great news today! My son called and informed me that they're having a boy!! They sent me ultrasound pictures. He has chubby cheeks. lol It's a high risk pregnancy so I'll be praying for them. She's in the hospital now, since Friday, trying to get her blood sugar levels under control.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

  8. How's everyone doing? I'm feeling frustrated because I'm still on a stall. Looking forward to the support group tomorrow morning. Maybe it'll readjust my head a bit. Hope you all have a great weekend. Looks like gorgeous weather! I'm going to take advantage of it and spend some time outside.
