I agree with the others. The main thing they are looking for is that you are doing this for the right reasons and that you understand that this is just a tool, not a magic bullet, and not to get a skinny as possible, and look great (even though you might). It's about your health, saving your life, etc. Best of luck!

Hang in there. I'm blessed my insurance company hasn't asked for all that. So far I've had met with a Psychologist, nutritionist, done blood work. Monday I'll be have a chest x-ray, EKG & 2D Echo.

Mine was a face to face conversation with lots of questions, then 2 tests that took 2 hours!! I have an addiction, anxiety, and depression background, and I passed. (All under control now)

What was their reason to deny the first time around?

Good luck. I'm just beginning my journey. I wish insurance would just look at our BMIs and/or health issues and approve.

Hi yes I'm in Indianapolis. I had RNY on March 8. I can relate to your situation I don't have much of a support system myself. Most of my family is deceased except my grown son and a cousin. Right after my surgery my cousin asked my surgeon "how soon will she gain all the weight back that she loses?" she often makes other remarks. My grown son doesn't say anything at all about my surgery. My point is I think that those close to us sometimes feel threatened about the big changes that we go through after surgery. Our focus is very much on using our tool and dealing with our new lifestlye. Maybe they feel left out. I think that all of us have went through this to some extent with our loved ones. Hang in there and do what you need to do for you and your health and wellbeing.

H​ello Everyone! I just wanted to share my before and now progress photos and a little bit about my journey so far! I am about 9 weeks post-op. I am 5'3 and my starting weight was 243. I currently weigh 203. I am feeling a lot better already! I no longer have high blood pressure and I'm no longer pre-diabetic. I also have not had any issues with my Acid Reflux since surgery. Everything is much easier to do already! I felt like I was losing weight slowly. Maybe it was because I had a 3 week stall but, I'm averaging more than 4 lbs. a week loss even with that! That's not too shabby! It's true what they say. You can lose inches without losing weight! I have lost over 4 feet of inches from all over my body! I cannot wait to see what the future brings! Now that food is not controlling my life, I feel this can be done and I can actually go all the way! The surgery was not easy but the surgery has made it do-able for me! What goes up, Must come down! Ha,Ha! Finally!

All of my info is being submitted today for insurance approval!! I'm so anxious... Good vibes, crossed fingers etc would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you for your reply I am have already had the chest X-rays and those came back clear I was just sick around January whenever they perform a pulmonary function test and they thought that I had pneumonia at the time so I believe that is why my pulmonary function test came back so bad the doctor is writing up a letter when she sent this in to let them know what was going on with me at the time and to let them know that I'm not having any breathing troubles now but insurance will not pay for me to redo my pulmonary function test so we were going to try to send in the bad score for now but I didn't know if maybe they will make me get a clearance from a pulmonologist at this point because the score was so low Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App

This really has not been bad at all! My pain has never been above a 4/10 since I woke up! I have been very hydrated here and I can tell because I am getting puffy, but all in all I am doing great!

They may want you to see a pulmonologist to sign off.
