Yes my fitness pal is what I use and most people I know. The dr can get them all printed out from that app.I also have HIP Plus but it's not MHS. It's Anthem BCBS. I've been trying to find someone who has the same insurance that's already been thru the approval process.
And is keeping my food journal on myfitnesspal ok? Or should I start writing it down?

I heard anthem is much easier to get approved with

Yes I started last aug, and I've submitted 3 times. It's like pulling teeth with mhs to know exactly what they want. Everytime they've come back with more and more tests. And I submitted the logs 2 months ago, and they're just saying not enough. It's aggravating!!@@BonnieGail Sorry to hear this. I was told I have to have the entire time of food and exercise logs, so that's December 1 through May 31 for me. They told me to keep doing them because they can ask for them at any time to prove you're still compliant. My final nut. visit is May 31 and we are submitting to insurance on 6/1. All of my other tests were great except I'm on a CPAP now, but I'm compliant with that as well..... it's such a process!

I was denied today bc they asked after my 1st approval for the food and exercise logs but they wouldn't say how many they wanted. So we turned in 3 months worth. They also denied bc I had a low PFT, bc I was sick. So peer to peer is going to happen now. I'm 10 months in, and still fighting MHSUpdate: Found out from the insurance co-ordinator at my surgeon's office that for HIP Plus through MHS they require 6 months of medically supervised weight loss along with a daily food and exercise log for the entire time. You must show at least 80% compliance on the logs (with daily exercise, etc.). Also, once they have the 6 months and submit they make you keep doing the food and exercise diary all the way until day of surgery. In addition they require (aside from the psych visit) a cardiologist appointment, ekg, echo on the heart, pulmonologist (sp?) visit, and sleep study. They said that HIP Plus (through all providers) is the HARDEST insurance they have to get approval on. Much different than what MHS told me when I initially contacted them.

Yeah I never tried on the meds. I was on all mine for 3 yrs, and I struggle some days now. But for the main part from all I've heard and went thro, the psychiatrist wants to make sure you are in a good place now and understand what ur getting into. That u realize it isn't isn't a quick fix and u have to put in the workThanks for answering my question. I'll see what my PCP thinks. I've been off my meds previously, and it's not pretty. I don't have my consult until July 1st with the bariatric surgeon. I went through the beginning of the process in 2014, and I barely remember if my meds were an issue.

I have Indiana MHS, and am working on turning in more tests for the 3rd time. Was wondering if anyone else has Mhs, and if so can you tell me how it went or is going for you with the approval. I go for my 9 month app tomorrow, and only required 6months originally by insurance

Yeah being approved doesn't seem to be an issue. It's just the back and forth with insurance. Them saying do these tests after 6 months, then 2 months later they need more is what's frustrating. They need to decide what they want the 1st time, instead of adding more each submission. I know I will get approved in the end, the wait just sucks.I live in Mitchell, but I'm having mine done at IU health north, in Carmel. It's about a two hour drive for me, but I'm hoping all these trips will be worth it, and I'll get approved.

Deaconess. I'm in evansville. Where are you locatedWell, then that is probably something that I'll have to do also.
What hospital are you having your surgery at?

Absolutely not. I know I am blessed to have the insurance that I have. As I've said I am optomistic, it is just disheartening when you keep expecting something to happen and it doesnt. That's a normal reaction.what insurance do you have? I's so sorry they are giving you a hard time. Insurance companies suck!
Would you rather not have any insurance? Imagine paying for every dime of your healthcare without it.

I do not have any history. I was sick after xmas and they thought it was pneumonia, but wasn't so put me on an inhaler for the time being. But previous to this, I've had no health problems besides high blood pressure.Ugh. I wonder if it is the same for all HIP carriers. Did you have any pre-existing conditions that would make them request the extra tests, or a history of heart or pulmonary issues, or do you think its just a standard requirement?

I have MHS. They have several requirements to do for your 6 months. Then after they keep adding more when I submit. Waiting now for the heart hospital to call with an appointment for my clearance and drug test. Then Resubmitted
I have HIP plus also. MDWise. What carrier do you have? I've been hoping to find someone that is farther along than me in the process with the same insurance so I can get an idea of what I have to look forward to. It's not looking like I'll have an easy road ahead of me...
I have HIP plus through Indiana. They have the norm 6months requirements with tests, nut, psychologist evaluation, and went through everything needed quickly. So at my 6 month visit submitted and 2 months later still waiting. Just dishearteningwhat insurance do you have? I's so sorry they are giving you a hard time. Insurance companies suck!

Thanks. I've done all that as well. I just hate that insurance requires certain things, then when you are done with that and ready, they keep adding more. But I'm staying optomisticHang in there. I'm blessed my insurance company hasn't asked for all that. So far I've had met with a Psychologist, nutritionist, done blood work. Monday I'll be have a chest x-ray, EKG & 2D Echo.

Was denied last month saying the wanted an echo test, food journals, and pulmonary function test. Resubmitted, and 3 days later they want more stuff. Now a cardiac clearance and drug test. 8 months into this, and frustrated. Trying to stay positive. :/

That is a very weird place :/ lol@@BonnieGail Wow, 2 tests that took 2 hours??!! Mine was a 5 minute conversation. That's it. Actually, I had to do this twice because the first time was at one hospital and it was with a social worker and it was a 5 minute conversation. This is the one where I was joking around, which I do when I'm nervous or in an exceptionally good mood. She didn't have a sense of humor for sure and she flunked me. Barely even looked at me--eye contact maybe once. Made me very mad which is why I switched to a different surgeon/hospital and had to see the psychiatrist but again,it was just for 5 minutes and was only a face to face conversation. I passed with flying colors though I could have made a lot of jokes at this place. This psychiatrist was in the old wing of this hospital and to get there you have to go up one flloor, through some crazy hallways, then down 2 floors, round and round, and then back up in an old elevator to the 4th floor. All these hallways seemed old, dingy, and deserted. It felt like I was in a very strange dream. And then the waiting room was hilarious. There were a few chairs and a coffee table, some bookshelfs and end tables. Everything was empty. Kleenex boxes were empty, bookshelves were empty, candy bowls empty, and I can't remember the other odd stuff there but it just seemed odd. THen when I got into the psychiatrist office, again, all his bookshelves were empty, his desk had nothing on it, there was nothing anywhere. I started to think I was getting punk'd! And I wanted to comment on it but have learned my lesson. Just really weird. You had to see it to understand how off it was.
Yes 2 hours of testing. Was insane. Then went back for a read on how I answered and my personality chart she got off it. Pretty spot on!!

Mine was a face to face conversation with lots of questions, then 2 tests that took 2 hours!! I have an addiction, anxiety, and depression background, and I passed. (All under control now)

Best of luck to you as well. Hopefully I get approved this time!!Good luck. I'm just beginning my journey. I wish insurance would just look at our BMIs and/or health issues and approve.

My Dr recommends Optisorce. Is around 39$ at walgreens for a month supply. I don't have a surgery date, waiting on approval, so haven't started taking. Right now taking a multi Vitamin and the Biotin.

They wanted more info. food journals and exercise journals, fulmonary function test, a stool test and echo.Best of luck to u!
What was their reason to deny the first time around?
I did all the previous requirements such as 6months w dr nut and personal trainer, did the 5% weight loss, psychologist evaluation, and whatnots. So hopefully this time it goes. I'm not at 8 months into this.
