I have been telling everyone that I am afraid of the Pre-op diet more than surgery and post op. I am scared with out the tool of the surgery and how that is going to help me stay focused, that I am going to cheat on PO diet. I am addicted to my routine which involves a glass of wine/beer at around 8pm and a snack before bed. HORRIBLE I know, but it has been mine and my husbands routine for last 5+ years...I feel like that will be so hard to break! I am going to do it, believe me...but it's going to suck

You will do fine! The first 2-3 days were the hardest for me. I had headaches and bodyaches which made it seem like my body was detoxing (which in a way I guess it was.) But once I got past day 3 I was fine. I have learned to drink Water every time I felt like nibbling something, and now I am at the point in which being around doesn't make me want to bite into it. As of yesterday I was down 5.9 pounds since the day I started and that alone was enough to keep me motivated to want to do more.

Use the time you would snack with your husband before bed to do something else. I promise you it doesn't stay horrible forever!

  2. Starting my liquid 2 week diet before my bypass surgery this Wednesday [emoji1374]. I hope I am strong enough to get through the next 2 weeks. I have no willpower or get up and go. I keep saying to myself, once I have the operation it will be fine and just a few weeks/months struggle.
Excited, nervous but also can't wait for my new life and journey to begin [emoji1374]

I'm currently on day 6 of my liquid diet. I'm super excited. The first few days are REALLY hard. But once I got past day 3. I was fine.

  3. You're on the liver shrinking diet? My dr told me to have 4 oz of lean meat so I've been eating  chicken

Everybody's surgeon is different when it comes to the preop.

I'm ending day 5 and will be on day 6 of my 21 day (3 week) liquid diet. Which only consists of, 3-4 Protein shakes a day, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, Water (with crystal light as well, broth, Gatorade G2 or Powerade zero.

  4. So as long for me but I keep sucking My stomach and I'm like in a couple of more weeks it's going to be a major change .I am so excited and have been but then I just got nervous this feelings is probably normal but at this time I only want happy thoughts .

Of course I will. I'm all here for being here for each other. We got this! And if you're experience has been anything like mine, it's been a long time coming. This has been a little under a year process for me and I'm just ready to be on the right track to weight loss.

  6. So I don't know why I did this to myself .I just looked at some of these horrible stories of near death experiences and people being really sick after a bypass and now I scared myself to thinking of having just the sleeve and now a little bummed .

Those stories are anywhere. They happen. But heck I've had a csection in which I was completely sedated and I had to sign papers saying that I understand the risk. Anytime you have a surgery, no matter how minor, there are risk... especially when it involves meds for sedation.

You'll be okay! Look up statistics.

That's when I started mine. My surgery is also on the first. Lol. It's been kind've difficult but as long as I'm moving and not having to sit and think about eating I'm fine.

  8. I think it really depends on your surgeon. My doctor gave me a binder with LOTS of information, including the various pre-op diet regimens, at my 1st appt with him, and I met my nutritionist the same day. I was told that EVERYONE there has at least 2 weeks of the liquid diet pre-op. The assumption is that if you are overweight, then so is your liver, which needs to shrink before surgery. My BMI is 40, and it will be the 2-weeks for me! Starting it on the 21st. I am stocked up on Premier Protein shakes-4 flavors, sugar free Jello, popsicles, etc. I am ready...now I just hope my body is LOL. I have been eating a highprotein, very low carb diet for a couple of weeks to prepare, and so far have lost 13 lbs an feel great. I am also off of one of my two diabetes pills because my blood sugars were getting too low! Yeah!

I got a binder as well! I am on day 3 of 21 and today hasn't been that bad. (Knock on wood).
