From what I was told, blood work will be drawn 2 weeks before surgery.

I have united healthcare, and have been going since April. My 6 months was just up on October 5th. That's normal... you have a while to go.

The closer I get to being done... the more everything gets pushed back. My insurance doesn't cover a home sleep study. So they cancelled my appointment for it tomorrow, and appealed for it to be done in a lab. That can take up to 14 days to be approved. I give up on having the surgery before my birthday which is the original plan. I'm bummed and upset. Just feel like I'm doing all of this for nothing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

At nut visits you are weighed and they discuss how things will change and how you're eating. Towards about the 4th month my visits were literally me just getting weighed, and then leaving. Unless a miracle happens... My ex caseworker didn't tell me anything, could've had my sleep testing/study done. Nope. He constantly had an attitude, and would literally take DAYS to respond... Now I have to wait until the 19th to have it done, since that is the only day they have available for me. -The positive: I get to bring it home and just sleep with it for two nights here. -The negative: I CANNOT DO IT UNTIL THE 19th!!! Which pushes everything back... I was supposed to be submitting Thursday. Can't until I have taken the test and have used treatment if needed. Ugh. I'm bummed. Knew this was moving a little to smoothly. I guess if I do have sleep apnea, that'll be another point in my favor for this surgery... (is that even a positive?) I do have a question/questions: - for those of you who did the sleep study at home how was it? Were you able to sleep comfortably? - for those of you who have had sleep apnea and needed to do some sort of treatment, how long it take for them to give clearance for surgery? Yes, I know this is shallow... but it broke my heart and now I am completely upset. One of my two year olds (I have twins) took a picture of me while messing with my phone. It was completely off guard and a picture of me standing sideways... I LOOK HORRIBLE. Absolutely horrible. I'm 22. I have been overweight and this isn't new, but I didn't think I looked that bad. Now all I can do is wonder if this is what the world sees of me? A sloppy extremely fat black girl... To make matters worse, my family laughed. My mom said "that'll be a great comparison picture," but she laughed first. I know they're all extremely supportive. But that completely made me wonder what they've been thinking, and saying behind my back... My very last thing before submission, my class, is Wednesday. I have my sleep consultation on the 12th. But was told that it wouldn't put a pause on submission and rather or not I'd be approved (I have a BMI of well over 40...). I am longing for this surgery. Longing for the days I'm able to have these random "off guard" pictures of me taken, and be able to laugh and say "wow!!" I am longing for the days where I won't be the biggest person in the room, heck or the biggest person in the gym. I am completely 110% ready for this surgery and today has confirmed it. There are moments in which I doubt, and try to scare myself into thinking this isn't for me, but it is. I am suffering from addiction. Addictions make you feel good even when they're horrible for you. I'm not a sweets person, my whole thing was chips... but now I'm ready. I cannot wait for the next part or this journey. Dumping is not just a bypass thing, and even then I want to say only 30% of bypass patients actually dump. (Don't quote me on that but it is something around there) With both surgeries substantial weight loss will happen. How much weight do you need to lose? Bypass patients tend to lose a little more quicker. But even then you are in charge of how and what you do to lose said weight. If you have GERD issues, sleeve has the chance of making that worse due to the surgery taking place. Research, research, research!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you all so much. I plan on taking a ton of pictures, and have been, but having your two year old do it followed by the "woah" she decided was appropriate... was definitely a slap in the face. Lol But I'm so eager and ready to go! Everything is checked off! I've literally completed everything. I do have a question though... If my sleep study isn't done until after the 12th (figuring I'll even need one?) would it put a pause on my approval process? My BMI as stated is way beyond 40 and besides that I have nothing else wrong? I'm just worried. I've waited too long and am eager to finally get this done. My Bariatric center was actually where I went to have my 6 month check ups. All my PCP did was write a letter saying that she thinks surgery would be a good choice for me. My surgeon and his team have done everything else. Nut, psych, everything. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
