First, I brought it up with my PCP. I went to a weightloss seminar at the place that id like to have my surgery. I ended up having to switch my insurance because my original one did not cover it. I had my heart set on the sleeve until I talked to my surgeon. He was very honest, my BMI is super high, and to get the results I would want (and need to be honest) the bypass would be the best for me. I also have GERD and the sleeve can make that worse. I haven't yet had my surgery, but this is the route I'm going on, and my mind is pretty okay with that. One thing I've learned from researching and reading like crazy, is you cannot base your decision on everybody else's. What works great for you, may not work for somebody else. Just keep researching. My immediate family knows, and some close friends. But the way I look at it is this; why should I have to explain myself to anybody? If they ask I'll tell. But I'd still be hesitant depending on the person. I figure I'd say something along the lines of "I changed my diet and exercised more," both in which aren't lies. Like all of us, you're doing this to better yourself and live a fuller life. That's all that should matter. If they have something to say so be it. These 6 months feel like they're going to take forever. Everyone seems to be getting their surgery in the near future... And then there's me... Pushing November. I'm sad!!! Anybody getting theirs around the end of the year at some point? Here's to hoping these 6 months fly by and are full of growth and change to prepare for the rest of my new life! I am pre-op (hurry up surgery ready to begin anew!!!) but honestly, my girls, I have twins, will be replacing food. I feel so bad when I chose to eat before them. I feel horrible sitting next to them while they sleep at night and finishing a bag of chips. I hate it. I want to be able to get up and run and play with my girls. I want them to be proud of their mommy. Take them to the zoo and not be tired and trying to figure out when I'm going to sit down. I guess all in all, being able to be active with my girls. From researching and researching... And researching some more, I've learned that I'll learn to love healthy, clean eating, more and more. You'll learn to enjoy the few bites you will take and that makes me happy. It's a new relationship. To me it's beneficial. I'll be able to enjoy and live life to the fullest. I'm only 22 and I've been overweight for 15 of my 22 years. Not only that obese+ for at least 10. It sucks. I want to feel normal. And know that I will, I just need help. I actually got called yesterday from UHC and had them say "we just wanted you to know that you're approved," but I have at least 5 more months of supervision. I was like "What?!" And emailed my caseworker lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
