    Gastric Bypass vs. Gastric Sleeve

I know people who have had the sleeve and have dumped. For me, it was a matter of what would help me get closer to my goals. That just happened to be the bypass. I will be using dumping as a tool, if I dump, chances are I didn't need that thing anyway. I say "If" because dumping doesn't necessarily happen. Talk to your surgeon because most of the time they will tell you what they think would work best for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Get a binder...

@@Mysticpink74 @sisanmarie I was talking about the book. Lol it basically has everything you need to know about your surgeons requirements and what preop and postop will look like! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Newbie

It depends on your insurance as well. For example, I had (and am currently in the middle of) my 6 month supervised "diet" that needs to be done before I am completely approved. I am then under the impression that the surgeons (at my center) are usually booked 4 weeks out. Some insurances require different lengths. Some don't. Some doctors require a specific time. Some don't. Some require weight loss. Some don't. Lol. It varies Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. Unfortunately, people can die from any surgery if you want to be technical. Please don't dwell on the negatives. Remember why you're starting this process and why you're bettering your life! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Never signed anything like that and I read everything Before I sign lol. I was told that it COULD happen for insurance purposes. But nothing from the surgeon Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve to Bypass

You're thinking weight loss surgery for a reason. To get healthier. Giving up shouldn't be a thought! Here's the deal, they're both tools and should help better your life. Look up things, and figure out if this what you really want! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. Thank you so much for that! I think that's exactly what she was trying to do. I'm not worried. I will be happy and smile! It's my time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I guess I'm just going to stop stressing it. My surgeon had said nothing bout it, and from what I've looking up united still accepts. I'm hoping this is the case. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. My doctor isn't the issue. It was my nut and she says they could. I have united healthcare if anybody could relate Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. @ I mainly just walk and run around with my girls. I average about 9000 steps a day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. @@KristenLe that's the issue I guess. I never know when my weight will decide to go up, even when not changing my diet/continuing to do the same thing. I'm bummed and don't want to be told no after literally going up 1 month. It depresses me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Thank you very much! I don't eat carbs. And if I do it's a bite. I drink Protein Shakes, one a day, and do weigh daily. That is what scares me. I'll go up and down a pound or two every night. Thank you for all of the solutions! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I do use my fitness pal. I have for about a year now. And protein shakes actually aren't recommended much in my program. Powder yes. But shakes no. I also get started on clear purees the day of, and regular purees by day three. It's weird. But the best, nationally known Bariatric hospital around me. I have confidence in it. 19. Maybe I'll try that. When I told her that I drank Protein Shakes she freaked, and told me that they're full of sugar. Any brands you recommend? I'm just hoping that this won't stop me from having the surgery. The last thing I need is to be too fat to get help... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. No I do not. And that's what made me nervous about what was said. I was nerve told a weight that I had to be, and hearing that threw me for a complelte loop. Of course I dont want to gain to make it easier with surgery, but geez... And When I do decide to eat carbs it's very VERY little (if at all). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No one really gets it

I'm 22 and going to have my surgery soon (hopefully, I am into month 3 of my 6 month supervised diet...) As far as I'm concerned, the complications with me continuing to gain weight is far worse, than me trying to have this surgery and better myself. Any surgery could have complications. Every single time you have something minor they make you sign the same type of forms. It's your life not other people's. Take everything they say with a grain of salt and keep on moving on. I suggest continuing to research and research until you can't anymore. It will put your mind at ease. Remember why you're doing this. A better, healthier, happier you! The straw that broke the camel's back

I'm 22 years old and for the last 15 years of my life I've been overweight. I've always been the bigger girl. I have two year twin girls, who mean the world to me. I don't want to continue to shorten my life. My girls deserve a healthy mommy. I deserve a healthy life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    PCP Appointment Advice?

I actually brought it up to my pcp... She immediately agreed and wrote that she thinks I should have the surgery. also, your surgeon AND/OR your insurance (if that's how you're paying) may require 6 months supervised visits regardless of dieting history.
