  1. What I'm a little scared about is after 4 yrs I still have port pain. Fills are excruciating. I can only imagine what a baby pushing on it is gn to feel like. My doc is an idiot and the answer I got for why? Is " uhhhhhh I don't know why it hurts..."

I'm gng to switch to ppo tomorrow so I can go where I want and not have to see military docs.

I've been recently having reflux more often than ever and its concerning me.

I want more answers and the doc I'm seeing is not doing it.

  2. Im almost 4 yrs out and my port site has ALWAYS been sore, fill are excruciating . Once they numb me it's not so bad, but the pain goes deep and the lidocaine doesn't go that deep. When hubby returns from deployment we will be tryin for baby 3, I havent been pregnant yet with the band, and I can only imagine what it will feel like at the end of a pregnancy with a baby pushing on my port. I see my doc in dec and plan on talking about my options, I don't know what this could be? Why would it hurt this long? Sometimes when I bend over to clean or pick things up, it feels like the port gets stuck , and it feels like the worst ab cramp and I almost need to push it back? Idk, it's hard to explain. Anyone else have port pain this long?

  3. So I've had some weight gain and struggles, so I've been playing around with a few sites like sparkpeople. I need to lose about 15 lbs by March 20th I"m in my bros wedding and my dress is too tight!

For the amount im working out now, SP says I should be eating about 1300-1600cal a day. But my trainer says 1200-1300. I've had a complete unfill bc of constantly pbing. I plan to have some put back in soon. it's only been 2 weeks. I know it's all about calories in and calories out. I wasn't losing crap bc I couldn't get in solid Protein, and I WAS making poorer food choices bc of this problem. Everything I ate, my body hung on to.

SO who's right SP, or my trainer? Since I REALLY gotta get some weight off quick bc of my bros wedding, I thought about doing the 17day diet? Any thoughts?

  4. Not lost any weight Chest Pain galore, burping and vomiting. Any good healthy food comes back up. sugar and garbage stays down. Banded 9-9-10 . Anyone else care to share

Sounds like you are way too tight. I just had all the Fluid removed because I had EXACTLY the same problem. I WISH i could have barfed! It never up, just slimed like it was my job! I couldn't live like that anymore. I have two little ones and I was done. How much Fluid do you have in? When was your last fill?

  5. I've def started adding carbs back in. But not white bread. For instance I wouldn't have been able to eat those 100 cal sandwich thins from sara lee. and now I can, i put reduced fat cheese, 4 pieces of turkey, Tomato, light mayo, and mustard and a tad of red wine vinegar. Look, I believe in the band for some people. Obviously it's work for some. But not being able to eat a variety of healthy foods like whole grain bread EVER, is kinda stupid to me now. Like, WHY? I remember when I was first out from surgery and I has a bit of restriction, I lost way more. I was able to still eat but not OVER eat. Then I got greedy and wanted more Fluid, and thats wen the problems started

  6. So we moved to CA a few months ago, and before we left I had my doc do another small fill. Solid Proteins got stuck A LOT. My weighloss was at a standstill. I have two small kids and a crazy life being a military spouse. What i was starting to do, was make poorer food choices, choices I knew wouldn't gimme problems, bc I just dont have time to be sliming for 20 minutes at the grocery store. So this has been since May.

Fast forward to now, I hired a trainer bc the weight needs to come off. As I told her what I could eat, she's like "NO" I'm not training you like this and you can't even eat healthy stuff I'm telling you to eat. It;s pointless. So i went and had all the Fluid taken out bc I needed a break. (I do plan on getting some put back in, it's only been a week) I can now make healthy food choices. I can go to Subway and eat turkey on wheat. I'm writing everything down and it's been really good. SO WHY IN THE HELL am I GAINING weight? Some say that bc my body has been in starvation mode, it's hanging on to all this food. REALLY? STILL? What do you guys think? I'm so damn frustrated I could scream! My bros wedding is end of March, and my dress is too tight. At this rate I wont be able to be in the wedding! My trainer says to be patient, I'm done being patient!!!! HELP!

  7. Hey all! 2 1/2 years out, NO problems what so ever, had my last fill beginning of May, I rarely get food stuck, but it has happened. I'm one of those people who has never PB'ed. At times I wish I could have, but it just doesn't happen, I've only vomitted once due to the flu.

So Tuesday night after a long day at Disney with the kids, about 3am, I am awakened by this squeezing right in between my breasts, kinda radiating around what would be my bra line if I had one on, it would squeeze real tight for like 10sec, then let up, then do it again like 20sec later. It KINDA resembles the sensation when food is stuck, BUT at no time did I start sliming, liquid goes down fine and food seems to be fine too. Its so weird bc it's like I can feel the band. It kinda feels like right when I was postop and felt like I had to burp, but nothing would come up and it was horrible for like a week.

We just moved to San Diego, so have have no docs yet, and my husband is deployed and I have two little ones and know no one. I wanna go to the ER just to see, but they are going to think I'm nuts.

Can anyone relate to this? It's now Thursday morning and I woke up with it still, and once I'm up and about the pain subsides a bit but its still there. Anyhelp from you guys would be great! This is so rough with hubby gone, after two years and no problems, its gotta happen when he's gone! UGH!!!

  8. My weight has been at a stand still for months well, more like teetering back and forth, had my last fill Jan 15, DEF felt restriction. Since I quit working, April 7th, I have ZERO activity, (We are moving to AZ May 11) SO Im just so busy. Tonight I had a turkey burger, (no bun) and at about almost all of it down, (i prob should have stopped sooner) a piece got stuck. I don't know of I am not chewing enough or if Im eating too much? I was contemplating going back for one more fill before we go, bc I will be seeing a new doc out there. But after eating solid Protein and having a piece get stuck I'm just not sure.

I have been off track and I'm working my way back here but I just wanted to know what some of you thought.

  9. Thanks for your reply, sometimes Im so depressed about all this I refuse to eat. And I know this is also a horrible thing to do. A certain medication I'm taking kinda makes me NOT hungry. I just don't wanna eat, and still I see no weight loss. So docs even prescribe this med for weight loss and well its not helping me! LOL!

We were at TGI Fridays tonight and this is what I was able to eat, 4 french fries of my daughters, 2 boneless chicken wings, and a half of a chicken breast, and i was done. I'm wasn't stuffed, but I knew when it was time to stop, however, this will not keep me full for very long, so is this how I know I might need a SLIGHT fill?

  10. Been MIA for a while, I"ll try not to make this too long. Had my surgery April 2008, so coming up on two years this april. I started out at 278, got down to 248, and I am currently at 264, I've had 3 fills, def. noticed a difference after the third fill which was beginning of November, I'm going back Jan. 14, because I feel restriction, but it's more like onlt if I eat too fast or don't chew enough, I don't know if I'm feeling "full" if that make sense? For those of you that have lost a good amount of weight, and feel like you have good restriction, could you eat a 6" turkey sub from subway? Because I can, so do I have good restriction? This is where I am so confused bc my doc says thats ok and thats an ok food choice. He's says he's nt gng to fill me to where I can only eat a few bites aalso have to make better food choices. I GET THAT! But I might of as well of joined weight watchers then! I did the band so that I could still eat what I wanted in moderation, even in bite size portions, am I totally off base here? Because if I am, someone put me in my place. I know I have to make good food choices, but i wanna be able to indulge a little bit, thats why i didn't do bypass. I feel like someone who has had great success with the band and who has good restriction, would tell me no way in hell could they eat a 6" subway sub. I'm getting so frustrated I've about given up. I have a very physically demanding job 40 hours a week and that doesn't even make a difference, i don't get it. Please someone help me I'm desperate here. Thanks guys....

  12. Let me just give you a brief intro, was banded 4-23-08, one fill, still have restriction, but I think I'm eating too fast, I take big bites, barely chew, (Believe me I know this is bad) (In the beginning I was terrified to get anything stuck but now that I have "tested" my band, I know what I can get away with. After a few bites, I get pressure, which i do stop, and then an enormous need to belch, which i do eventually. Once I belch, I could eat some more, question is should I? I know I have fallen back into bad habits, thanks to the holidays. I think I want another fill, but doc says that if i still have restriction, if he puts anymore in, I'll be PBing a lot. He says you should only come see me when you can eat a lot more and feel less/no restriction. WHat do u guys think? Does belching mean I'm eating too fast or too much? I feel like if I was at a "sweet spot" I would HAVE to eat slow and chew really well. People that I know that are banded are surprised that I have only had one fill.

  14. thank you all for your kind words of encouragement, I really needed that! I'm going to get back to the gym tomorrow morning, and just start slow, some moving is better than no moving! I just wish I knew more people in my area that are going through this, I know they are out there, just gotta find them!

  15. Well I had my six month anniversary Oct. 23, saw the surgeon and he says I'm right on track. I started at 278 and am currently at 247. He told me from the get go 1/2 lb a week is normal. I've only had one fill, and I think I have restriction. In my visit I was thinking I would get another fill, but he wouldn't do it. He asked if I still felt rest. when I ate and I do, so he said if he puts more in, I'll def. be puking. (I haven't yet). I can't eat more than a cup of solid food, and Pasta bugs me, so is that still good restriction?

Also I have been really slacking in the excercise dept. I started a class that was everyday in the mornings and then i worked at night, so there wasn't much time. NOW< class is over and I have put ON 6lbs. over the holidays. I'm so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't gained until now. I know that when I don't excercise, i make poor food choices, but I haven't in so long that I'm scared at how out of shape I'm going to be again, starting all over!

All of the cakes and Cookies I've been baking and making, I feel like I can't stop! I can't believe the crap, and junk I'm eating, for the first time since being banded I feel hopeless! AND GAINING! I really need support, Is there local support groups? I feel like I need more accountability. Although this forum is wonderful, sometimes I need physical accountability kwim? This has turned into a vent, but man do I feel bummed! Any help to get me back on track? Also is my band really tight enough? I can't believe I still have restriction after all this time?

    Thanks everyone! Happy New year!

  16. So i was banded 4-23, and have had zero compl. I had a fill June 19, and that also went off without a hitch. Felt pretty good restriction, and have had no problems, the only thing I've not been doing is chewing well, but haven't had anything get stuck.

Well, I went back Thurs. for a second fill, and he ended up saying no, b/c i had lost 4lbs. since June 19, and thought I was doing great, and didn't wanna overfill. Ok no biggie, I'll wait.

So Friday night I wake up to aweful reflux, and this is like stabbing pain reflux, which i have had before banding, but I haven't had it at all since being banded. It lasted a few hours, which it never has before...so I'm getting a little worried, I finally took a Pepcid and within an hour it subsided.

THEN, all day yesterday everything i ate felt like it would get stuck, I never PB'd but it was like a throbbing heaviness right below my sternum and it would happen after a few bites, and then slowly subside after about 1/2 hour.

Is what I"m exp. random tightning? B/c I didnt get a fill, I'm confused. I know fellow female bandsters have said that certain times of the month their band can all of a sudden tighten for a few days. I'm worried b/c of that lack of good chewing, I've made my band slip, I'm not sure of the symptoms of a slip but the reflux bout really scared my since I haven't had it since being banded.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I"m thinking of calling my doc and see what he thinks, in fact I just left them a message to call me back, b/c this is weird, esp. since we didn't do a fill thursday. I don't get it????

  17. I'm 3 months post op, had one fill, 2cc's, and due to get my second fill Thursday. After the 1st fill I never felt "great" restriction but I could tell a diff. Well I feel/know I"m eating too much, thats why I called for a second fill. I can eat a six inch subway turkey sand. If you had good rest. you wouldn't be able to eat this right????? I AM still losing though, but I'm worried that am I stretching my pouch by eating this much? (I don't eat this much all the time, just sometimes) I plan on asking my surgeon Thursday.

The bad habits are pop! I didn't drink pop for 2 months, and ever since I took a sip, I love it once again. Again, it's not everyday, but I can def. tell that i can't eat as much when I'm drinking pop, and I know the food is the most important. Do anyone indulge in a pop once in a while? I really wanna cut it out again alltogether b/c pop is shit for your inards, I know this.

    Any help would be great!

  18. Two things, one, it said that based on my height and weight and that I want to lose 1.5lbs a week, that I should consume 2700 calories a day??????????? WTF? Isn't that a lot? Or no?

Also it's a little confusing to use, you just search what you ate and add to list?

Anyone else use this? Any tips?
