  1. Few days ago I had another appointment with my Endo. Last time I saw her was in May. She looked around the waiting room, then said ? Margo ? She said she didn't recognise me, and that I looked great, and congratulated me She also reduced my med to 1/2 of the original dose.
  2. @@Sweettee23 Wow, what an amazing transformation! Congratulations, you look fabulous! Well done! And thank you for saying not beat ourselves up, that we are human, and make mistakes. I fell off the wagon few times, but always get back on it again
  3. Ask your surgeon. Are you on any acid reducers/PPIs ? I was given Rabeprazole post op, and it did not work well for me. My reflux was getting worse and worse. I asked for Nexium script, and this worked wonders for me. 6 months later I am free of reflux, and weaning myself slowly of Nexium. It is important to sip slowly, eat slowly, chew really well and to stay away from acidic foods/drinks. I had to stop tomato/V8 juice, but coffee was OK with me. I also did not tolerate beef. Good luck!
  4. @@LisaMergs Thank you! All the hard work is paying off! My Endo did not recognise me few days ago, LOL. Very thankful to WLS for having a slimmer body and a younger face
  5. You look great! Years younger! Congratulations! I am 6 months post op, and posted my pics. Weight loss is a natural face lift and a spirit lift
  6. @@proudgrammy I love your responses
  7. @@Christy5913 Awesome Result! Wow, look at you, what a beautiful transformation. So now it is my time to congratulate you. You look gorgeous, and yes, the weight loss took years of your face Well done!
  8. @@Christy5913 Thank you! Yes, it is amazing what obesity does to the face. I really felt deformed and looked so much older. I had to see my Endo yesterday, and she did not recognise me! Last time she saw me was in May, and I have lost significant amount since then. She told me I looked great You're doing great too, and so we just keep going on this journey, one day at a time. And with time the results get better and better. I still have to lose more, and I am finding that at 6 months my weight loss is slowing down a bit, but it still happens. So, we are both work in progress, and I wish both of us gold medals at the finish line!
  9. @ All those fears and feelings are normal. It is a big decision, and a major operation, so feeling anxious is a natural response. I was so excited at first, when I was approved, as I was lower BMI. Then got frustrated as I was diagnosed with an auto-immune thyroid disease, and was told by my surgeon to come back once my thyroid got stabilised. Well, 9 months later I was finally scheduled for surgery. My excitement turned into major anxiety and fears. I even worried that I had to be in the hospital for3 days, and how I would cope with that. I worried that something could go wrong, I worried that this was irreversible and I worried how I will survive on 2 weeks liquids post op. I had few surgeries in the past, and I never worried prior to them. So I was surprised that I got so anxious with the sleeve op. All those worries did not materialise. I was fine! Yes, some pain post op, but was given good pain killers. I survived the 2 weeks on liquids only. I had pretty bad acid reflux post op, switched to Nexium and now 6 months later my reflux is gone. My stomach is getting quieter, doesn't gurgle so much, I eat healthy food and keep losing weight. So, best of luck to you and remember that all those pre-op anxieties and fears are just part of a process, and they go away.
  10. @@Jane1979 Hey, no worries. I nursed in the past, so I am used to the terminology
  11. @@Jane1979 No, the swallow test is usually Barium Meal, to ensure there are no leaks post op. Gastroscopy is done under anaesthetic, where they put an endoscope through your oesophagus and right down your stomach to check if everything is OK, or whether there is a hernia, and just to have a good look at your stomach before surgery. It is a day procedure, and it doesn't hurt.
  12. Good luck! Just one more sleep ..... Yes, great idea to have a list of questions written down, so nothing gets forgotten. After my first appointment, I had to have a full blood panel done, make apt with NUT, bariatric psychologist and Endo. Plus I was scheduled for Gastroscopy. Few hoops to jump through, but they were all worth it.
  13. Just awesome result! Well done! Good luck with the upcoming surgery. You did so well with this long pre-op diet, you will do great post op! All the best
  14. Thanks for the info, I am due for one soon, so I will tell re weight loss, although 3 years ago I was normal weight. After my 2 year obesity problem, then losing lot of weight, my boobs are definitely flatter. I hate that waffle Iron too! They squeeze so much, and when I think my boobs can't be squeezed anymore, yep, they get squeezed more. So painful!
  15. Ha ha! Just saw it. Was asleep when you posted it ..... LOL, too funny
  16. Ha ha! Too funny You're a loon, just like me ..... LOL Love it!
  17. There was someone 6 months ago who ate pizza toppings 2-3 days post op! Sometimes I just shake my head .....
  18. It was early July 2016, a person was 1 week post op. Can't remember which forum, but I think it was in the post op Gastric Sleeve forum.
  19. I am also ENFP. I love these tests, so accurate. I won't copy it again, just quote Lisa's post. Also, the language has changed a little. I am sure that ENFPs were called Champions in the past.
  20. No, I did not have to crush it post op. They are very small and slippery tablets, so I had no issues with it post op. Took it with bit of Water. Yes, this med is weight sensitive. We deal with kilos here, so my Endo said that to calculate the amount, usually it is 1mcg per each kg. Since I keep losing weight, the dose needs to be reduced for me, as I get bad side-effects, and feel I have Graves Disease and being hyper all over again. So, this is my second reduction. I started on 100mcg daily, 3 months later I was skipping one dose each Sunday morning. And in the past few weeks I have been feeling progressively worse, so my dose got lowered again. I actually got so desperate with not sleeping, that I took my old anti-thyroid med, Carbimazole for 3 days, and I finally slept. @@kmorri yes, definitely by losing weight, the body mass reduces, and so the original dose becomes too strong, and needs to be adjusted and regularly monitored, until reach and maintain goal weight.
  21. Strange though, I noticed that the troublemakers are gone also. Don't see any posts with name calling and silly arguments, anymore. The Vets that left, please COME BACK! Ooooops, Looks like I spoke too soon ...... Shouting from a post, with all capitals ...... Shame really.
  22. All the best for next week. Hope all goes well Always happy to share my experiences and any help. Best wishes to you!
  23. Hi everyone and G'day ! I used to live in Sydney, Bondi Beach, moved to Queensland few years ago, and I now live on the Gold Coast. I was sleeved 8th March 2016, and lost 29kg in 6 months. @@Ebony Rose It is normal to have fears and anxieties pre-op. I had many other surgeries in the past, and they never worried me. The sleeve surgery, I was almost terrified. Very excited at first when I was approved, and then a nervous wreck a week before ..... And then I went to the hospital. I was given nice relaxing drugs, and next thing I was being wheeled into my room. Everything went well, and I didn't feel too bad. The first 2 weeks I found the toughest in my recovery, and then it was progressively getting easier and better. This is a great forum, loads of wisdom and experience here. All the best with your upcoming surgery.
  24. OK, so I saw my Endo today. She did not recognise me! LOL Last time I saw her was 3 months ago, and I have lost lot of weight since. She noticed my shakes, saw I had higher blood pressure and racing pulse again, and I told her how I can't fall asleep and my sweats are back, and those awful headaches. My blood test results showed Hyper-thyroid again, as I thought. So, I am to stop my 100mcg Thyroxine(Synthroid) for a week. Yay! Then, a week later take 50mcg of Thyroxine daily, so my dose has halved. I hope this will make me feel better. I also have to go back on daily Beta Blockers again, to slow down my heart and lower my blood pressure. I have to keep having 6 weekly blood tests, and see how I go. I still have more weight to lose, so need to be monitored closely. I am looking forward to sleeping again.
  25. I know! Next time you go to Vatican, maybe you can make the Swiss Guard happy ..... LOL
