  1. Thank you for your responses everyone! The seminar went great. My first appointment with the surgeon is April 15th, next Friday. My insurance requires the six month "diet" so I'm just ready to start getting everything together.

I'm just a month ahead of you. My first appointment with the surgeon was March 18 and my next appointment is April 15. I actually didn't even know my insurance covered weight loss surgery. My husband's employer changed the policy. I went to my PCP in February just looking for some help with weight loss. BY that time I had lost 7lbs on my own. At my first visit with the surgeon I lost another 9lbs. So far this month I'm down another 11lbs for a total of 27lbs since the beginning of the year and 4.5 inches off my waist. I kind of had a divorce with food with food. Hubby and I went to couples counsel and he is no longer sabotaging my success. I can't wait to see you succeed. Congrats on the start of your journey.

  2. On New Year's, I promised myself I would do better. I started by walking 4 blocks to my kids school and walking back. Not much, but with arthritis it's been a struggle. I work from home in the guest bedroom upstairs. I keep all food down stairs and make myself have to go up and down the stairs for food. But I keep a pitcher of Water at my desk. I then started eating like my kids. My kids are extremely lean and muscular and only eat seafood, fruits and veggies. I stopped skipping breakfast and at least do a Protein shake in the morning. My NUT is training me to eat Protein first. Take my time eating. I drink a ton of Water. I'm going to start swimming soon. Since 1/1/16. I have lost 27lbs and 4.5 inches off my waist. I was getting discouraged because I stalled for 2 weeks and I almost turned to food because I was upset. But then my hubby had me take a progress pic and I really got motivated. A few days later the scale moved down another pound. Start with spost-288344-14601648817213_thumb.jpgmall goals.

  3. I call prednisone the devil. I currently do weekly shots of enbrel. I have systemic lupus, sjorgrens syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis. I love drs, they work as a cohesive team and copy each other on all labs regardless of not being in the same practice. I've been weaned off of prednisone and down to my allergy meds, hbp med and enbrel injection. Occasionally med for acid reflux. My insurance requires a 6 month diet and I am ok with that. I'm mentally preparing for the lifestyle changes. I haven't been able to workout yet, but in month 2 and already dow 20lbs since 02/19. I hope to be under 300lbs before surgery in the fall. I hope shedding pounds will improve my mobility and limit my flare ups. I 've already taken a $10k pay cut to take a job working from home. Working in an office was horrible, I was sick all the time it got so bad that I wore face masks to work to avoid germs. My immune system sucks.

  4. I have UnitedHealth through my husband's employer. My deductible is $250, they will cover 90%, and my max out of pocket for the year is $2000. So the most I would have to pay is $2250. My deductible has already been met. I just have to do the 6 month supervised diet. In month 2 and already down 20lbs.

I told my hubby he could never leave his job. They have awesome insurance. His open heart surgery cost us $1500 which included 2 hospital stays and a home nurse. I had fertility treatment and got pregnant through fertility meds and insemination. Only cost $350, and that includes the co-pay to have my baby.

It really depends on the group policy.
