  1. @ No my dear it is not just you. In all the years i have been here... the sex drive has to be one of the things that comes back with a vengeance. I know mine did. The getting hit on is a struggle... the attention and all the flirtation... is intoxicating (especially when you don't get it at home)... and can lead one to do things they once said they would NEVER do. Im learning now the hard way.... Who to trust and not... you would think at 47 i would know... But we live and learn... get knocked down and pull ourselves back up.

"Learning the hard way"........that statement.....could easily be inscribed on my tombstone one day. "Here lies a dude who learned the Hard Way". LOL.

Who to trust? Very crucial bit. Unfortunately we don't find out who we can't trust until it's too late. That's been the case with me, at least. The person that you think has your back in life.....is facing all challenges, big and small......for better or for worse......sickness and health.....then you realize your trust was misplaced. Damn.

It sorta skews things and clouds your judgement on ever trusting again.

I can now look back on my life and see the people that I've detached from.....friendships that I've not upheld.....old interests, etc.......each of these has some component to broken trust as the reasons for moving on.

I am lucky, though.....very fortunate to have recently found that I can place my trust with someone. I can share with them. It has been the key to me finding peace with my current state of affairs and moving forward. I am a better man for this.

So is this the new normal then? Does it taper down? Though if I think about it, pre-morbid obesity and pre-severe depressive episodes, this kinda WAS my normal, so maybe I just answered my own question. I'm getting plenty at home, though not as much as I need (in fairness, one man working long hours can only go so many times a day, no matter how much he wants to keep up. Lol). My problem is that I'm a natural flirt and usually don't know that I'm doing it - I just think I'm being nice. Plus I don't really notice that someone is into me until they're already trying to stick their tongue down my throat. It usually doesn't occur to me that they might be, and then when it sinks in, you're right, it's absolutely intoxicating.

    Damn......so many similarities here.

I'm the old dude in my relationship.....the old dude who is working the long hours and still has an almost insatiable appetite for bedroom cardio.

Hell.....put in a 17 hour night shift last week.....called home at 10:00am and woke her up and asked her if she wanted to go out for a date-lunch....hoping to get the fires stoked for fun later that afternoon........was up way over 24hrs while trying to make the magic happen.

I was told earlier today that, "We do it all the time......I mean....we just did it last week.....". I just raised my eyebrow and nodded my head.....waited a second or two and replied, "........And, my Dear.......that is precisely the problem.....I never took a vow of celibacy.....I have needs". I disengaged from further conversation for a while and let that sink in.

I'm not going to be able to be a once-a-week guy.

It's unreal when I consider what would-will happen if she ever meets me halfway.........

Dub, I feel your pain. My wife is a every two week gal at best. She has hormone deficiencies and as a result has a ridiculously low libido.

I'm not sure what's going to happen now.

  2. @@CowgirlJane, I am BRAND new to the forum. Joined yesterday. I will be having my surgery in May. I am on here specifically looking for long term vets and their results. So YES. You and all the other vets who are still active are very relevant to us starting and those already on the journey. I am one who is known to come across as brash but I speak the truth. Some folks can not handle the truth but that is their issue. I thank you and all the other vets for being here and telling your stories of what worked, didn't work and what is still working. You guys and girls are to be viewed as mentors for us newbies. As I am reading posts, I look to the persons name, gender and surgery date. Then at the weight. I am a guy and am looking for more veteran guys results but am finding few. So I am just balancing it all out and making the best of the advice and wisdom you all are sharing.

So thank you, thank you, thank you.

  3. In every relationship there are challenges and also different circumstances. What one may see as cheating may not be seen that way to another.

As far as the temptations are concerned, if it is there and you like the feeling of flirting and being noticed. SO be it. Who am I to judge you and your lifestyle. Personally, I am a huge flirt and my wife knows it. She gets it and has no issue with my exploring the menu as long as I do not order from it.

  4. Thank s for chiming in all !! Phil, I am with you with the no cheating part. TO me the fear of dumping is a damn good reason to stay on the straight and narrow.

defibvt, you fears are the same as mine and why I focused on the sleeve. But now thinking long term I am not so sure.

PDXMan, yours is exactly what type on info I am looking for. Your case of the "fuck it's" is my biggest fear. I do not want to have a life stressor down the road and start munching on crap and put back on weight. Those issues make me want to have the fear of dumping to contend with if I get out of line.

Pirate, you are doing all the things I want to be doing right now. I have a 5 year goal of being able to mountain climb and hike the Appalachian Trail. My Uncle did it and if he can do it I can do it. I am not going to sit by idle anymore and watch the world and life pass by.

Keep the reports coming in guys !!

    Trail.

  5. I have done all my research on the Sleeve. I have really not even thought about a full bypass until yesterday. I am looking for long term update from the guys who have had a sleeve or bypass.

I have a few lady friends who have had great long term success with the full bypass. They are 5+ years out. But I do not personally know anyone who has had the sleeve long term.

I have been doing all the insurance mandated precursors and my Bariatric Dr. has recommended me for the Sleeve. But the second thoughts have sprouted in my head as to which one.

    Thanks in advance guys.

  6. When I finally hit my fighting weight and things show signs of leveling off and maintaining......I will thoroughly enjoy going somewhere like Joseph A. Banks and buying a few suits.

I am a Joy Banks guy myself. They have awesome sales.

Their clearence section is really great too. I've found that their suite hold up much better than anything else. They do really cool Daily Deals as well. :)

I bought a couple dress shirts from the local J.Banks store yesterday. I was really impressed with the store and will be going back for certain once I'm leveled off and living at maintenance.

The young lady helping me almost had me tempted to jump on a 3-suit deal yesterday.........almost. Looking forward to future fitting sessions.

Yeah man, I've done the three suit deal twice. :)

Find a local tailor though. They get you on the tailoring.

  8. I don't know! It will be interesting to see what stores I find myself in or what catches my eye. Growing up I was always jeans and baggy sweatshirt girl. Now as an adult I am jeans and baggy t shirt woman. I don't have a style, but I want one badly, but nothing looks good on me at this size.

Same here but from a guys perspective.

  9. I have to wear suits for my job several months out of the year. I want to be able to shop in the normal men's section. I want to be able to buy cool t-shirts to wear on vacation and while fishing. I want to shop and be able to buy something that catches my eye off the rack and not have to put it back because it isn't a 5xl.

  10. The question of the day: Is it waterproof? Can you wear it swimming?

If you're looking for a waterproof tracker, check out the Garmin Vivosmart HR. I love it! It's completely waterproof so I don't even have to take it off to shower. It buzzes to remind you to move if you haven't walked a certain number of steps in an hour (great for me as I have a desk job and a tendency to get 'in the zone' and not move for three hours), you can have it push your mobile notifications to it, you can get your local weather, as well as the typical trackers like steps, stairs, and sleep! The Garmin Connect mobile app also has a super sleek interface and I love it!
I want one that is waterproof as I do a lot of kayak fishing. Does the Garmin track elevation as well? I do the stairs at work and want one that will track those steps too.

    Thanks in advance.
