I've had my band for 10 years. I'm having a revision to a sleeve. I'm in the pre-op diet stage. I have Cigna and have to do the 89 days. I go back to the surgeon on April 18 to hopefully get a date. I've heard it's a little worse because there is more manipulation of the tissue. Some people have to have repairs to the esophagus, etc. I'm just hoping for no complications. I agree with the idea to look elsewhere, I know the idea of going out of country can be daunting, but better self pay at somewhere reputable and have no surprises with bills later.

That is a ridiculous amount. I am guessing you are in the Chicago area? Even if you are paying cash, they could give you the insurance rates.
My surgery cost around 38K, at least that is what they billed, but the insurance rate that BCBSIL paid was just under 12K.
If United was paying for your surgery, I doubt the negotiated rate would be 26K.
I would not pay 26K out of pocket. Why not try Blossom Bariatrics in Vegas? There are places in STL that are more affordable. I think that cash pay is around 12K in STL at http://mynewselfbariatrics.com/

Also is Dr Mikhail the Dr that had the big lawsuit last year over a gastric bypass gone wrong?

Hi All,
I'm on day 13 of my two week pre-op liquid diet. This is truly mind over matter. I thought ny first week would be more difficult but my second week was harder. My liquid diet consisted of 4-5 Protein shakes, one cup of beoth, and unlimited sugar free Jello and Popsicles. I made the mistake of working out so make sure you have enough energy before trying. Keep your focus on the end surprise. Don't cheat this helps you post-op! Sunday will be night before I'm not to have anything but Water after 6pm and nothing after 10pm. Surgery set for 845am. Good luck to us all and kudos for all post-op and speedy recoveries!

In most cases, the pre-op diet is used mainly to 'shrink the liver'...
In my case, if the liver hadn't shrunk enough, the surgery wouldn't have gone ahead...
So if you're 'serious' about having the surgery, then yeah, the pre-op diet is probably something you should pay some heed to...

Tomorrow will be day 4 of my pre-opt diet...my sugery date is 3/29...I'm scared and excited!

I hope no complications either. I'm a pharmacy tech and am going back to work after a week. I know when I had my band I did that just fine but I'm worried about this time bc there is so much involved. But I dnt have anyone to cover for me after a week so I dnt know how that's going to go!

Im a revision gal. I lost my band 2 years ago. I am scheduled for 4/4. I am excited and since the band Ive gained 60lbs. I am ready more than ever for this sleeve!!!
