  1. Hi Vickie,

Doing well, altho I have not been on LBT much since summer. I was away for a while and never got caught up again. I thought I would check in today to see if I still recognized anyone!

Sorry to hear about your knee surgery. I had my left knee done 7 yrs ago this mth, and may have the right one done sometime this year. It feels so much better these days, I'm hoping to go with it as is till it hurts again.

My bandiversary was Dec 4. I've lost 67 pounds this year and so happy with this result. I find it interesting to have lost 67 pounds in my 67th year! I am a slow loser, 4-5 lbs most months, but it adds up.

You didn't say when your knee surgery was, but I know it takes months before you are not thinking about them daily. My doc told me 6 mths, and it was 6 mths to the day! Do the phys therapy - hurts, but it makes all the difference.

  2. Hi Maureen - I'm glad you are doing well. It's good that you feel some restriction - lots of folks don't feel any until after the fills start. I found I filled up fast and just could not eat much anyway before the first fill. My DD fixed chicken chili for me a few weeks ago and I loved it. It's a great choice.

    Amen to getting healthy!

    Joann

  3. Hi Ladybug,

I agree many of these folks are younger. But it's never too late as far as I'm concerned. We older chicks could be better candidates 'cause we are ready for the real solution, ready to do the work and be our best. I subscribe to several threads and recommend them. On the fifties forum - there is a longstanding thread ("Hey, 50 and over gang..."). Great thread, many bandsters in all stages of the process. I also go to the mentoring thread (I know I will need a kick in the pants some days). It's called "I'm here to help..." thread starter is IndioGirl. She reached goal in a year and is a strong mentor. It's a great thread. Give these a try. Read back a few pages to get acquainted with the folks and continue on. You will catch up with everybody soon.

My date is Dec 4th - 16 days to go and 15 for you! We are beginning an incredible journey - how exciting it is to become a butterfly after all these years!

  4. Hi Maggiehpp,

Sorry to be so slow answering - I've not explored LBT as much as I should and did not see your note. I have not been banded as yet. Turns out there are often issues with Medicare - too long to go into detail, but one of the Centers of Excellence has had billing issues with them and has a long backlog of Medicare patients to go through. Looks like my name will not come up for as much as a year. I'm applying through another COE now, they tell me it should be 3-6 months. Another group in KC area should have final okay to bill Medicare soon, and I'm going to keep after them, too, hoping they may be faster than 3-6 months. I'm willing to bet it will be that long, though. I don't know why everyone wants government-run health care. No one will get the care they need...
