If you're feeling such restriction that getting your fluids in is a challenge, then the hunger you've got is "head hunger".
Believe me when I tell you, your sleeve wouldn't let you eat enough to harm yourself at this point. You might take a bite or two, and likely it would could come right back up again.

I can't answer your question about why men are so clueless. Fortunately, since I am single I didn't have to deal with this during my recovery.
Other than politely asking him not to eat junk in front of you again, I would suggest that you control what you can (yourself) and just leave the room until he has finished eating. If he wants your company during meals he MIGHT get a clue.

Keep in mind that no one know how much everyone who has ever had surgery has done over time. There is no master database of all of that information in addition to the fact that the number would be forever changing. What doctors go by is data derived from a specific set of people over a specific amount of time.
As others have mentioned if you focus on what you are in charge of: your Protein, Water, exercise, Vitamins, food choices, and attitude, you will do great.

Changed2016 reacted to DeletedMember in For those of you with kids.
I've kept my kids completely in the loop. My 11 year old was a bit nervous about how I would change. She just doesn't want her dad to change at all. And even told my wife "I just don't understand why dad is doing this. I mean, he's not even fat." The best part about that, is she honestly believes that. That's how she sees me. We had a lot of talks pre-op about how I will be the same, and that at 11, she might change more over the next 6 months than I will!
Since the surgery (10 days ago) she has been great. She asks a lot of questions and takes a genuine interest in the process and my progress.
We are generally very open with our kids, and it has never backfired yet.

The predicted weight loss is based on results from a few specific studies. They are estimates and not predictions.
Is it possible to lose all of your excess weight? Yes.
Is it possible to lose very little of your excess weight? Yes.
Is it possible to lose part of your excess weight? Also, yes.
As far as I can tell is that the only real limit is how much effort you choose to put into following your program. If you do what you are supposed to and don't give up when you stall or experience difficulties, then you can lose all or most of your excess weight.

I've lost 2 more pounds of Water weight. It's definitely slowed down, but happy to see it still coming off.
Unfortunately, I feel like death today. Everything hurts (i.e. Head, legs, stomach, kidney, ankles, etc). I'm also really nauseous and lightheaded. I'm guessing my body is just tired from all it's been through over the last week.
Think I'm just going to rest today and catch up on sleep.
Thanks as always to all of you for looking after me.

I urinated 7 times overnight and when I weighed this morning I had already lost 10 pounds of Water weight.
I have since urinated about 5 more times today and have lost another 5 pounds of Water weight.
So, thankfully, the diuretic is working as I have lost 15 pounds of water weight in only 18 hours. Yay!!!!

You know you have lost weight when:
Your husband tells you that you've lost massive amounts of weight off your a$$. I've been married 35 years and I'm excited that he's still looking at my behind.

Changed2016 reacted to JamieLogical in What my doctor said. Ur sleeve stretches after three years
I was told the sleeve doesn't stretch and I have yet to see any real scientific evidence of it. It does "relax" some as you become fully healed around 12 months. At 19 months out, I can't eat any more now than I could eat at 9 or 12 months post-op. My restriction is still very strong. What does happen the further out you are from surgery is real life. You become less focused on your surgery and eating right and meeting Protein goals, and more focused on other things going on in your life. At that point, it's easy to nibble on more carbs and convenience foods. It's easy to maybe start drinking 10-15 minutes after eating instead of waiting the full 20-40 minutes. It's easy to get out of your exercise routine or at least became a little more lax about regular exercise. All of those things can add up to some weight regain unless you keep things in check.

Changed2016 reacted to JamieLogical in What are you looking forward to after WLS and the weight comes off?
I'm already at goal now, but the main things I was looking forward to once I was a normal weight were riding amusement park rides and starting running again. I have done both since getting to goal and could not be happier. In fact, I'm spending a week at Dollywood the week after next and I'm running in my first half marathon on April 24th!

I am excited to finally take family pictures! My eldest is 13 and although all the kids (3) have taken portraits together, and alone we don't have one with me and their father in it.
This popped in my head today and I've been smiling another thing to jot down on my list of reasons why to do this and stay committed!

When you are no longer afraid (neurotically, painfully afraid) of running into someone from high school or college who knew you BEFORE you got fat.
A couple of weeks ago I was in my hometown having lunch at a restaurant with my brother, and mid-way through I realized I had not scoped out every diner in the place to see if there was someone I needed to hide from, nor had I entered the place with the slightest bit of apprehension. It was a wonderful realization.

@@Changed2016 I'm in Atlantic Beach, I live on the intracoastal off of Mayport Rd, not too far from Dutton Island
Dr. Lynch (bariatrician) gives you the run down on surgeries, talks about if surgery is right for you and which is right for you, answers any questions early on in the game. For me, it was a bit different.. again, because I went through the program not wanting surgery, then decided halfway in that I was in (at mayo, they put you through the bariatric program for weight loss, too, until very recently. They stopped medically-supervised replacement shake diets because they don't really work long term). So, I met with Dr. Lynch twice.. the first time, he told me how surgery could benefit me. I imagine it's a little different with patients seeking surgery.
I thought I could speed things along, too (being an employee), but unfortunately there aren't many times that they do the classes. You're at the mercy of their scheduling. You won't have to wait for insurance approval, though, so that may speed things up considerably! I would talk to Karen as soon as you're done with your last class, and ask that they book the consult with the surgeon ASAP. That will move things along for you. I'm also told there is very little wait once you're good to go, because they have surgery spots open all the time. It may be sooner than June depending on when your classes let out and how long you need to do the pre-op diet.
