Have you had the soy before. I never could drink the soy. It maybe just a bum shake. Is it possble you drank to much? I would drink some water and hopefully push it all through your system. Hope tomorrow is better.

    lap band in your 60's

Check the group forums for age 60's, you can ask them and get alot of replies.
  4. You two are doing great. I have had my first fill and did okay with it but I am noticing my food choices aren't the best. I have been lucky no slimin or PB'in so I am reluctant to fill again. I've lost 4 pounds in 5 weeks since the fill. I've got 4.6 in the band. Most of the time if I eat real slow I notice the difference. I just started back swiming and am trying to do it everyday. I've been a slug after work lately. Good luck on your jouneys, you both are doing great!!!!It needed to be said again we tend to be hard on ourselves.

    Seriously angry and depressed

I was at a seminar when somebody asked that question of the doctor. He said that the only weight they put down is the one you started with. He said that why should anyone be punished for following requirements or requests of the doctor or health plan. Now that makes sense. I had a BMI of 36 with high blood pressure and a cardiologist who wrote that surgery would probably solve my problem. I agree appeal the denial.
  6. I just see the RN in the office, she does all the fills.
  7. I ususal down the entire bottle of water after about a hour. Can't figure out why but I do. I will after about an hour down another bottle. I don't drink much in the morning but afternoon and evening I down quite a bit. Have you tried Kelloggs Protein water? I found that it kind of gives you a full feeling. My RN I see for fills said that water anytime before you eat is okay because the water should flow through the band and should not hold in the pouch.
  8. I would try another doctor. You are risking your health. Your doctor would not want that and must have given his patients another one to consult with. I would unfill a bit maybe .3 to .5cc. Nothing is worth risking your overall health.
  9. While I didn't use Dr. Simpson (they didn't take my insurance) I did meet with him for a consult and was very very impressed. He took a lot of time and answered many questions for me. His dinner with the doc seems like such a wonderful idea. Their support is top notch. I did but his book on lapband and found recipes very good. Good Luck
  10. That is me exactly. I don't know why I have slipped into old habits. The weight had been coming off slowly, but I was fine with that. One pound a week and I didn't feel like I was dieting. Now is another story. This is the first week I have shown a gain instead of loss. I have to get back to basics and prepare in advance my lunches and dinners. Seem like the only way for me:ohmy:
  11. There is a lot of information on the site. The best part is that you are not along in your journey. If you have a problem you can probably find somebody who had the same problem and what they did. Always consider your doctors orders first and foremost but this group has alot of experience going for it. Good luck.

    Getting Cold Feet

JB, I'm glad you posted. I always wonder after a while how some people are doing. You were before me in May and you have done wonderfully. Size 12 I can only dream.....
  13. It really goes to show how different doctors and their staffs will differ on amounts. My office says 1/2 cup of protein and 1/2 cup of veggies. Even a little more if still hungry after 30 minutes. But they want me away from liquid calories. Even protein drinks they really push regular foods. As I read alot of posts ,this band works with a variety of eating styles. Thank heavens for that.

4 months since lap band surgery

It being summer do you have access to pool. That is a wonderful way to exercise and keep the weight off the joints. I wish I would do it more often. I'm just lazy lately.
  17. You can try neosporin or antibactieral (sp) cream. I used that on the incisions once the tape fell off and healed really well my doctor was inpressed how quickly I healed.

Any May Realize bandits out there?

Hell I work off the 101 in Peoria. Will look into it. Again time to get my ass in gear. Differrent doctors cause mine only required liquids (not clear) for 24 hours after a fill. Saw my reg doctor 4 weeks ago and just yesterday down 4 pounds. I wished for more but....I haven't been exercising. He wasn't a fan of WLS but I'm giving him a different look at the lapband. Maybe make it easiler for another patient of his.
  19. I found that after my first fill (4.6) I experienced the same thing you did. I figured out that I ate to fast and did not chew very well. It's something you learn as you go. I now stop eating sooner and let my stomach tell my brain That Was Enough Food. And it usually was.
  20. Okay I posted before but I'll tell you what my difference is in eating and feeling fuller sooner. First fill of 4.6cc 7/11. Before fill could eat small salad with a little bread 6oz steak & small baked potato. I know that is more than one should eat. Now I would eat like at Applebee's fried chicken salad (bad me the fried part) and 2 mini chicken sandwiches. Eating only the bottom half of the bread not the top. I was FULL. And it lasted at long time. Before the fill, that would have been just a teaser. In the past 4 weeks on the doctors scale I'm down 4 pounds and that's okay with me. I'm a slow loser but I'm going in the right direction.
  21. I ended up waiting 6 weeks before my first fill. I found the last 2 weeks before the fill I could eat pretty much anything. After the fill I felt it immediately. I was scared of PB or getting stuck so I was really careful the first week after. Now I can stay fuller longer. Head hunger can still be my major problem. It's been about 4 weeks since the fill.

I'm bad here, I can and should exercise and I'm not. I can't even muster up the energy to go to the pool. Now that's lazy, send me some of your get up and go PLEASE !!!!!

Any May Realize bandits out there?

WOW, another fill I am somewhat chicken of another fill. I had mine 7/11 4.6cc. I'm afraid of PB'ing. I haven't yet. That why I think I'll stay at this fill for as long as I can. I thought I would be more agressive with fills but found out I'm not. The first few days after the fill I was unsure of how I felt. Wondering if I would be able to keep things down. Always did probably cause I was real careful. Now not so much. Good luck on you next fill.

Kalalilly, Enjoy your new found sense of full. I really have to eat slowly to let my stomach catch up with my head. I still cannot "eye" my portions when I go out to eat. I haven't PB so I feel I'm doing okay.

Kalalilly, I am surprised that they didn't let you schedule a fill yet. But if you were losing I could understand, even with 1 pound a week I bet they wouldn't fill. I'm almost 3 weeks out from my first fill 4.6 and while it doesn't seem like much I am losing the 1 pound per week. Bad me without exercising like I should. My job is pretty physcial with lifting and walking so that must help. I get full easy with alot less than I used to eat. I'm lucky I drink protein water or fiber water and that does hold me longer I think. Good luck on your fill.
