  1. I've been eating a lot of mashed potatoes because it's on the list for soft foods. Maybe that's it?! ;)

For my 3rd week semi solid foods, I have I can eat between 3 to 6 Oz per food every 2 to 3 hours for a total of 4 to 6 meals a day.

Allowed foods: chopped in tiny pieces, ground for Protein. cooked vegetables without skin, chopped fruits without seeds, ham low in fat and carbs.

Not allowed: foods high in calories, rich in satrch such as rice, bread, and tortillas. Fatty foods, fried foods, nuts, almonds, whole grain foods, coconut, cereals with Fiber, raw vegetables, fruits with skin, foods with dry or hard texture. No banana or grapefruit

Have liquids every 20 to 30 min, avoid long periods of time without eating, do not mix liquids with solids, stop drinking 30 min prior to eating and start drinking 30 min after eating. Potatoe only one medium potatoe a day.

  2. Neither my surgeon or NUT really give me a diet. He says it's a lifestyle change so I need to learn to eat healthy, and not totally restrict or I'll end up failing like all other diets.

I just had a chat with my dr. He says it's normal and recommended me to weight my self only every month, since after the 3rd week you will fluctuate a bit, because your body is trying to adjust to the changes in food and food consistency. Am with you

  4. I need input on the hair loss after surgery and how it has been for all of you. I'm nervous about it. Please share your experiences, both positive and negative.

Am 3 weeks post op, my hair is falling out but just a bit, I take b supplements, because that is the one that gets absorbed faster by your stomach. It helps! But honestly so far my hair looks great.. only time will tell and not all bodies are the same, so just keep an eye on yours

  5. I'm still pre-op, scheduled for March 31st. I've come to believe that this is kind of like having a baby in the sense that you hear all the wonderful things and aren't exactly prepared for how the actually initial experience is. Part of human nature is to remember things better than they were so the stories we read don't always include every single bad detail. Also the reward in the end is so great that it's worth the sacrifices in the begin, at least that's what I'm hoping for :)

Hope you feel better soon and are able to practically forget this in six months.

Kind of having a baby, you will be eating like a baby, from liquids to puree to semi solids to solids in 5 weeks. first week specially the first 3 days are bad, because you have so much gas and it hurts, but it only gets better with time and lots of walking

  6. Sitting here in the hospital 24 hrs after surgery. Really questioning myself. The nurses are telling me I am doing great. But it hurts to drink. Hope to go home in a few hours. Is feeling down normal?

Ohhhh and try to walk as much as you can, slowly of course that helps with the gas.

  7. Hi all...I was sleeved on 2/26 and I'm experiencing difficulty with getting in my Water and Protein :( I feel fatigued all the time due to dehydration. I'm a teacher so I'm having trouble remembering to sip all day. What is a helpful schedule to go by to get all my fluids in? I have got to get some energy fast! I'm supposed to drink at least 64 oz of Water and 80 g of Protein daily. I'm barely getting in 1/3 of that requirement...

Hi, am 3 weeks post op, am trying a shake that my nutritionist recommend it's called infusion bariatric. I make it in water. That helps. I used to chunk on water now it's hard to go with 8 cups a day, remember it's either water or food at one given time. So another thing is choosing fruits that contain lots of water to compensate. Hope it helps
