  1. You could just have described me! I am almost 2 weeks post op and other than the acid reflux (doc said to take Prilosec for 3 months to keep acid down and the stomach heals).

I lost 7#'s the first week after surgery. I am getting in at least 60g of Protein. I'm drinking 60+ oz of Water. I eat Soup (tomato mainly) - and I can eat the entire can - I didn't think I would be able to.

I haven't lost any #'s the last week. I feel like I didn't even have surgery!

I'm hoping when I get to the pureed stage that I will fill up with small amounts.

I'm not depressed - I'm just concerned that I'm not doing enough of something or too much of another; I know about the 3 week stall but I haven't heard of a less than 2 week stall! :/

I'm also 3-wks post op and not loving life. I have very little discomfort unless I take too big a swallow of something (my own fault). My biggest frustration is that I'm not losing weight. I lost 10 lbs the first 7 days and since then nothing. Here I am 3wks post op and I've only lost 10 lbs. I hear other people at 3wks lost 20+ lbs. I try not to compare myself but jeeze I'm bumbed. I'm logging every bite (range between 800 - 900 calories/day) and every sip of Water (40-60 oz/day) and every bit of exercise (walking about 2 miles every other day). Oh, another crazy thing is the lovely acid reflux I have every time I eat (never had that before - yummy!). And, when I drink water, soup, or any liquid, my internal plumbing likes to grunt, groan, and gurgle until air bubbles come up as burps. I can stifle the burps but I can't control the other noises and my co-workers are noticing and giving looks. Yup, so I'm there with ya on the frustration platform.

  3. Congrats on your surgery. I am days post op and agree with the other posters. Take care of you. The oz. you need are goals not absolutes, especially in the beginning. I feel like I am drinking a lot but realize I'm only about 30-40oz. My biggest issue has been reminding myself to sip! I find I'll take a mouthful like I used to do - and then have to let it trickle down so I don't hurt my stomach.

Good luck! Hang in there. Wishing you a healthy and speedy recovery!

  4. Monie, Breezy, and Momwith3 - I am also having surgery this week: on Weds. I was very nervous all last week. Now I just want to get on with it. Since I am going to MX - my anxiousness is more about wanting to get back home.

Hoping to keep connected with a few who are going through it at the same time; so please update when you can! I will try to do the same :)

Good luck to each of you!

  5. How did it go?? My surgery is 4/6. I'm getting nervous - was not nervous prior to this. Not sure why I'm nervous now! Hoping you've had a good experience :)

I'm having my surgery with Dr. Ariel Ortiz on March 24th. I have researched, asked questions, and researched some more and I feel very comfortable with my decision to go with Obesity Control Center. I hope your loan comes through! Such an exciting step. I would be happy to tell you all about my experience once I have the surgery!. :) Jamielogic had surgery with OCC and she was very helpful in giving me info. Us sleevers gotta stick together!

Hi! First-time poster here. I have an appointment with the bank tomorrow. If my loan gets approved, I'm getting a VSG with Dr. Ariel Ortiz, from the Obesity Control Center. Spoke with him on the phone yesterday, seems like a great guy; his credentials are very impressive too.

I really hope I get approved. I'm terrified!

  6. Well, I suck. Here is my confession: I was on vacay this week- with friends/family - in florida. Not easy to stay on plan.........

I should have started my pre-op diet this past Weds. 3-4 Protein shakes, unlimited leafy greens, sugar-free popsicles, sugar-free Jello, Water, Water, and more water.

I did two shakes/day with Protein and veggies at night. I did eat a little ice cream and some pringles (because I am purging myself of my guilt right now - I'm being honest even if it is embarrassing).

Today - and until surgery on the 6th - I am committed to the pre-op plan as written. I'm hoping because I wasn't totally crazy with food, that I can shrink the liver as needed for an easy surgery.

Prior to this week, I've been following the Atkins diet, again, not perfect but pretty well.

Let's face it, if I was disciplined, I wouldn't be in need of the surgery to begin with.

So, I'm human and made mistakes. I know I will follow the pre-op plan from here forward because I am self-pay and I'm not taking any more chances of not having the surgery.

Surgery is April 6th - Mexico
