    Hi, I had Dr Castro and apparently Dr Le jumped in to assist. How did it go for you? How did your post op go? I'm down to 20lbs and it's been smooth sailing for me. Did you join the support group? It's really great and helpful.

    Havnt had mine yet unfortunately. Just got approved on 4/11 and should know my date by the end of the week. I can't wait to get in the support group but they said I had to wait until after surgery to be added. I will have to find you on there :)

    I work from home full time....I originally planned on just taking 3 days off.....That's still my plan....sort of....But I decided to schedule the whole week off....surgery will be on a Monday.....so I'll schedule the whole week off but told my manager I may cancel some of the time if I don't need all of it. He will also be fine if something should happen that causes me to need more time.

    So I think the bottom line is you don't really know.....but probably best to plan for a little more than you think you'll need just in case.

    If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living that let's you work at home? I've searches for so. Long for a good work from home job and have never found one. Congrats on your surgery

    Maybe the best thing to do wpuld be keep a cooler with you with shakes and yogurts and stuff a long with Protein powders. I am work at a factoring company where we do the receivables for truckers. We purchase their loads once done so they get paid immediately instead of having to wait. I actually have two truckers as clients who have had WLS surgery and both keep coolers in their trucks full of shakes cottage cheese and so on. One even has a case of Beans at all times. They have done really well. Hoping that helps a little

    Yes!!! Please don't give up!! These insurance companies want people to give up so they can get away without paying for surgery! It was hard for me to be patient but at the end of the day, I'm glad I stuck it out! Good luck to you! Your day will be here before you know it!

    I don't have a date yet but my surgeons office said begining of may :) have to get my approval letter and submit it to scheduling :)

    I have wondered the same thing. I have 3 people in my life that got the surgery but as soon as they could they started back with their old habits and gained it all back. I'm deciding to learn from their mistakes and be very vigilant with this tool cuz I have fought hard for it. Just got my approval today after 2 denials! So I'm gonna fight just as hard after the surgery

    Rydersmama, I started at 330. Surgery weight was 323 lbs, I weighed in this morning at 158 lbs. I've lost 172 lbs since my very first orientation visit with my doctor.

    First of all sunshine you look amazing!! I'm 320 and hopefully having sleeve. Did you have any skin removal or did it pop back pretty well?

    It depends on the company and why you were denied. If you were denied over something trivial that can be corrected then it may not be a problem. If you were denied because you don't meet the qualifications then you probably don't stand a chance. Check with them and find out.

    I meet all qualifications. 51 bmi sever sleep apnea PCOS high bp. They keep denying me because of my past lap band fiasco in 2008. They keep requiring more and more info

    I just wanted to update my status here, I had my final weigh in this morning, down 9lbs this month, total weight lost 32 lbs. My PCP signed off on the paperwork so now I have a few more clearances to deal with and then it's time to submit my info!

    Hey everyone, I've got a quick question about appeals. I've been denied by my insurance twice and I've already resubmitted for a 3rd time and am waiting. I meet all criteria so I'm hoping this 3rd time will be the charm. I keep thinking though eat if they deny me again? How many opportunities do I have to appeal them? I'm so heart broken by this whole process. Any info would be greatly appreciated

    I work for cigna and had the sleeve on March 21. There is a reason. Call their 800 customer service # and ask the rep to call ore auth. They will tell u the exact reasons... yes they will send u a letter but they can find out fast. I'm sorry ur going thru this. The things that are required are specific and suck. But u have to follow them and the they will aoprove. I see it everyday it sucks. I. Sorry ur going thru this :*(

    Unfortunately I can't call cigna directly because it's through a third party called Group Administrators. They do all the work and cigna pays. It's been so hard going through then because they have everything I can possibly give them... :( it's just like oh well we need this. We need more of this.. we need some of this. For example the first denial only listed needing pulmonary clearance blood work and lap band approval and operative report back from 2008. I get them all of that

    Second denial. We need reason for removal and you gained a pound during your supervised weightloss.

    Both of those things weren't mentioned in first denial. It's like why didn't they just put all that in the first denial? I appriciate your response I'm really just gibber jabbering. Haha. Congrats on your sleeve fyi I wish you all the luck with it

    Being able to run and play with my daughter. Going to the zoo and actually being a it to go through the whole thing instead if finding places to rest while my husband takes her around. Being able to walk more than a block without feeling like I'm going to literally break in half. Looking forward to what life has to offer
