    Food stuck feeling

I was severely constipated after surgery from the pain meds I was on. I haven't had any issues since but, I do take Miralax every other day with tea. I ate mostly any soup I wanted, mashed potatoes with gravy, sugar free pudding, oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurts, etc. For the first month or so, I really struggled with food. I mostly had soup and 2 premier Protein shakes. Now 3 months out, I'm able to eat my protein but I still supplement with one shake a day. Best wishes to you!
  2. I didn't try raw veggies until about 10 weeks Post Op. I'm about 3 months now and I eat whatever veggie I want cooked or raw. I just chew really good. I cut them up really fine or even use my potato peeler for cucumber, carrots and radishes if I have a small salad. That way it is thin sliced and easy to chew. I haven't had dumping from eating anything but I have had it from drinking right after I ate. I just mindlessly did it as habit and paid for it. Anyways, I think you'll be fine if you chew really good. I just recently added peppers to the mix and those were fine too.
  3. Thanks Everyone! Hope you all are doing great too!

    Puréed/mushy food ideas

In that phase, I pretty much only had my premier Protein shake, Water, hot tea, sugar free popsicles and Soups. I had oatmeal, cream of wheat, s.f. puddings, mashed potatoes and gravy, yogurt smoothies with added protein powder. I really didn't want to eat and even today, I mostly just want soups. So, I make sure they are loaded with protein! Check out Bariatric Eating.com great ideas.

    slight discomfort when drinking

I too have some discomfort drinking! It is getting better with time just as Cervidae says above. I'm almost 3 months out now. At first I was only getting about 8 to 12 oz. in. Not good. But now I get about 48 to 60. Still not where I need to be but I'll get there! Hang in there, it gets better!
  6. Hello Everyone! Hope your having a great day! I am 198 this morning! But a couple days ago I weighed 203. I was wondering if anyone else stays at the same weight for weeks and then wham... I lose 4-8 lbs. This is the way I have been losing weight since surgery 11 weeks ago. Are stalls normal so early on? I know everyone is different and I'm quite happy with the amount I've lost so far. Sometimes I feel like, o'h great, I'm going to be the only one this surgery doesn't work on. Then I realize, even though I lost most of my weight in the first two weeks, I have been averaging 4 lbs. a week over a 11 week time period. Ha,Ha! Anyways, I was just curious if this is normal! Thanks in advance!
  7. Pammieanne, I sure hope you have heard or hear soon! I wish you the best! Thanks to those who responded and I'm glad to see some lose this way too!
  8. Thanks axir8n! Freaks me out sometimes but then it comes off. Glad to know I'm not alone! Congrats on your weightloss! That's Awesome! I can't wait to be there! Have a great day!
  9. I use Sulfate free products like Loreal. Nioxin is another good one. Not only is great for your scalp but it can help with hairloss as well. If your hair is super dry, try doing an oil treatment! Keep your hair trimmed of dead ends too so it minimizes breakage!
  10. @ Tommy Joe, I'm doing great! I wouldn't know what happens when I lose all that I need because I am not even 3 months out yet. I can tell you my plan is to eat healthy and exercise and continue to do as I'm instructed by my aftercare team and surgeon. As far as my Gerd, I haven't had any problems since surgery!

    Week 3

Don't over do it on the exercise people! Your bodies just had surgey. They are healing and also adjusting to the low calories. 30 minutes 3-4 times a week is plenty. The stalls or gains may be caused by doing too much and your bodies not getting enough nutrition sending it into starvation mode. If you are not over eating, then do not over exercise either. I had a 3 week stall when I started working out. When I slowed down only doing 30 to 45 mins on weights and or walking then I started to lose again. But, I'm 10 weeks out now and I haven't lost anything this past week again. I'm okay with it because I know I could be doing better with my Water intake and Protein too. I didn't think I would have to watch my diet so much after surgery but I am still very glad I had it. The reason being... I do not constantly think about food. Fatty high carb and sugary foods make me extremely nauseous just to think about them now. Surgery has changed my way of thinking when it comes to food. That is my solution! Things will start moving again, It's all good!
  12. I meant to type Gaylene!
  13. @ Glene Davison, I have Barrett's Esophagus caused by Gerd. My surgeon said in doing the Bypass, it would solve my Acid Reflux issues! Which it totally has. I went in thinking the Sleeve is what I would get. He said the Sleeve would make my Acid Reflux worse where the Bypass would get rid of it! He really pushed me toward Bypass so I did it!

    Is this possible?

My whole process went so fast! My surgeon said I made a new record speed from consulatation to having the surgery. I was 1st letter approval and met with psych, nutrition and fitness one time as well and then did a liver shrinking diet which was not too hard to follow at all 2 weeks prior to surgery then Voila... had the surgery. All took only 2 months! So happy for ya!
  15. Mine was chili with 2 fritos mashed up in it! It tasted yummy but, I could only have a few bites!

    5 days post op

I love the Isopure from GNC and I get the vanilla so I can add in sugar free flavored syrups. Whatever kind I want! I blend it with a little Ice. They are easier and taste better to me this way! I have peach, strawberry, cherry etc. flavors. Hope you find something you like or even love!

    Cramping and diarrhea!

I hope you are feeling better and called you Doc. This seems weird but when I don't get enough fluids I either get constipated or diarrhea. So my Doc told me getting enough fluids will help either of those! Are you getting enough Water in? Anyways, hope you feel better now!
  18. It will be easier when you move to solid foods to able to tell. I agree to stay with portion size recommended. Mine was 1/2 cup. I usually didn't finish that but liquids go in easier and move through the pouch kinda like a funnel. When you start eating more solid foods you will know when you are done, trust me. I get a full feeling but sometimes I over do it and don't know it until I get a little nausea and a sort of hot flash hit me. Later advice... Take small bite, chew slow and like 30 times before you swallow! This helps me a lot! I also can eat a bigger portion of soups because, once again, it is liquid. I do measure my food but even with that, for me, I definitely know when to stop because I get nauseous if I over do it! Good-Luck

    4 days Post-Op

Yep! I lost like 13 lbs. my first week. About the 3rd or 4th week. I stalled for 3 weeks straight! But, the inches were still coming off! I also was not getting in enough calories, protein or water. That contributed to it as well. It's work to get in all our nutrients required. It's a learning process. Everyone is different and I'm figuring it out. Congrats on your loss and don't get discouraged when/if you stall. Things start back up but just make sure you don't over do exercise and get in enough protein and calories to stay away from starvation mode and so you don't lose too much muscle!
  20. I was only on clear liquids for 2 days and then any liquids for another week before I started the pureed phase. Can't you have sugar free jello, regular protein shakes, broths etc. I would ask the doc and see if those would be okay! Good-luck
  21. You could try the new Bariatric Advantage Calcium Crystals with Vitamin D. You mix it with Water or whatever. It completely mixes in with whatever you put it with. It is pure calcium citrate. No other ingredients and it's not too expensive either. I just ordered myself some. to put it in with my smoothies and Soups. I agree with some above. It's probably other ingredients in it if that is why you are breaking out. My nutritionist said since this is pure calcium it will reap the rewards as the citrate does! Hope you get it all figured out!

    Queasy 6 wks post op

When I feel that way it is usually because I drink my fluids to fast or didn't chew my food good enough! Also, if I take my vitamins on an empty stomache they make me sick feeling! Could also be doing too much too soon. ??? Hope you got it figured out and it doesn't happen too often!

    2-weeks post-op update

Thanks for sharing your story! It's always nice to compare! I didn't feel good until about 2 or 3 weeks out! I couldn't lay down in bed because I cramped up on my side! Slept in my recliner forever it seems. LOL! Things are way easier now and I'm reaping in the rewards of this surgery now! I do struggle to get in my fluids. But, most important is the 80-100 oz of Protein they want me to get in. So I drink 2 shakes which helps with Fluid intake too! So glad you are doing so well! Keep it up!
