Sometimes it helps if you take the pressure off yourself. Mydoctor always uses the phrase " do the best you can". Instead of concentrating on food I just concentrated on Protein intake. I made my favorite stews and Soups and emulsified it to mushy or liquid form. I would added chicken flavored protein to them. Made Protein Drinks the way I liked them like vanilla protein with orange crystal lite. Or Decaf coffee hot or cold with chocolate protein. Keep a sports bottle next to where you sit. Sip on it all day. Use flavor u like so you will drink. Good luck and "do the best you can" and stop beating yourself up.

I am scheduled for removal of my band (had since 2002) to RNY on March 16th. I chose RNY for the same reasons above. I feel it is the best choice to lower my risk of weight re-gain and I have reflux issues as well. My surgeon was amicable to either sleeve or RNY but I didn't want to take a chance of the sleeve not working long-term. I have a couple friends that have done great with the sleeve and one that hasn't.

I chose to revise from band to bypass because 1) I had reflux from the band and that is also a more common complication of the sleeve 2) because I chose the latest/greatest with the band and didn't want to make that mistake again and 3) I liked the added malabsorption component of the bypass. If you are diligent about taking Vitamins, you shouldn't have any issues with malnutrition. When I first went to see my dr., it was his nurse who was talking sleeve, sleeve, sleeve. My dr. probably does more sleeves than bypass now too, but I am thrilled to have done the bypass instead.
