  1. I am 9 mos. out from gastric bypass, and I could have written this myself. I've lost the same amount of weight and been having the same issues. It's horrible. Very good advice from blondie66. I will be putting forth the effort to change my thought patterns and see if it helps. Not an easy thing to do, but completely makes sense. Please keep us posted if you find anything else that works for you, and know that you're not alone.

  2. Bariatric Fusion chewables. Low carb/great taste and no need for additional supplements i.e. Calcium, Biotin etc. they're all in there. Recommended by my surgeon for rny and have always gotten back excellent results from my bloodwork. Also, very affordable. When checking and comparing, look at carb and sugar values. Most are very high and may not be what is best to get weight loss headed in the right direction, especially if sugar was you're issue to begin with.

  3. Well day 1 has been great almost. Lol the pain meds are making no me itch like MAD!!!! and the cath is driving me nuts. Otherwise, I am great. Ice cubes and Water are going down without any problems. I have not experienced being hungry either. They are giving me gas meds, so no problem there either. When I first got to my room I was in extreme pain, but that ended quickly with the meds. Just wanted to send y'all an update.

  4. Hello Pink Ninja! Had surgery the same day and am still on soft foods as well. The only carbs on my list are mashed potatoes and only after you eat your Protein source. I love the roasted chickens from the grocery store, and the meat is super moist and i do cheat a bit and just take small bites and chew the bejeezus out of it before i swallow. Wait a few minutes between bites and no drinking until 30 mins after you're done. You will be fine once you figure out what works for you.

  5. I'm two days from surgery. Clear Liquids tomorrow. Laundering the bed linens and clothes to pack. After urging I went and purchased dry-mouth spray along with a fresh Chapstick. It has been a long line to get to this roller coaster, but the gate is visible now. My family is keeping me busy tomorrow so it should go fast. Time to breathe and stay calm.

  6. @ inspyrdbyu - THANK YOU SO MUCH! That means so much to me :) I called my insurance and surgeons office and both said they had nothing to do with the hospital and their billing. I called the hospital but keep getting their voicemail. I have a number to call between 3-6pm to confirm my arrival time tomorrow so I'm basically just sitting here waiting for that. Hoping for the best!

  8. I just got a a terrifying phone call.

Some lady said that she was calling from the hospital where my surgery is scheduled. She said my insurance is covering 80% and I'm responsible for the 20%. (I was already aware of that) Then she said that my 20% comes out to $6,630 and that I had to leave a deposit over the phone of at least half. My surgery center required a deposit to meet my deductible of $3,000. I paid that last week. I told the lady on the phone that I had already paid $3,000, she said it wasn't showing up on her end and that it might've just been the surgeons fee which is not included in the facility fee. I AM FREAKING OUT. I don't have another $3,000 to pay by Tuesday!! I can't call my insurance or surgeons office since they are both closed on Sunday. Has anyone gone through this???

  10. I'm so sorry I never responded to your posts, I feel horrible. For some reason I never saw any of these posts come in until I got a message today.

I'm so happy things are moving forward for you!! Sounds like you've done a lot of work to get to this point. It's amazing how fast the time goes.

I was in the program for 6 months before my surgery and now I'm 4 1/2 months post op.

If you all have any questions please let me know. I promise to check in more to see if I've missed anything rather than wait for a notification :)

Not a problem! How are you doing with everything?

  11. My surgery is Aug. 2., and I hear you about the nerves. When they get to be too much, I try to remind myself that this will be my "new" normal and it's to keep myself healthy and keep my BP, cholesterol, sugar and other lab values "normal" and have a better life. It's too teach and help me eat the way an average, healthy person eats. Not immediately, but not too far in the future, we will be able to eat more of a variety without incidence and be so much more active. Try picking up just a 50lb. child and walk up a single flight of stairs. It will hit you hard how your body is working every minute of the day to carry around that extra weight and imagine what a relief it will be to get rid of it forever. Now is the time to work on mind over matter, it will be a valuable tool post surgery.

  12. I didn't have to lose any required weight due to a low BMI. But when I finished all my requirements I had to wait 3 weeks to get an appt. with the surgical coordinator, Dr. Snow. She went over that all my tests were ok and I had all the info she needed to pass on to the Dr. My surgeon is Dr. Wu, mainly because he had the first available surgery date. They are both amazing surgeons with extremely high credentials, so I was fine with whichever one had the soonest opening. From Dr. Snow's appt., it was 3 weeks for my appt. with Dr. Wu. He happened to have been on vacation the week of the 4th of July, so it probably could have been sooner, I'm not sure. After my appt. with Dr. Wu, they submitted to my insurance for approval. I have B/C B/S and I got my approval letter within 4 days. At my appt. with the Dr. they gave me my surgery date pending ins. approval along with a list of appts. with preop. nutrition, hospital preop, anesthesiologist as well as post op appts. It was very organized. My surgery was scheduled approx. 4 weeks from appt. with Dr. Wu. It depends on hospital availability at the time. Good luck with everything!! I'm sure you'll do fine. Keep me up to date on your progress and feel free to ask any other questions.

  13. I had to do the same thing. I found that it was the hardest part of the whole process so far. You get your mindset into a healthy and active lifestyle, but can't actually change anything or you won't qualify for the help you need. It really messes with your head. I tried to focus on the things that I could change like not drinking when eating, cutting out caffeine, small bites, slower eating and getting in my Water. At least it helped me feel like I was accomplishing something towards my goal.

  14. I'm going to the Obesity Treatment Center at CMC in Manchester. How did your surgery go? and where did you have it done?

Going through CMC also. We are you in the process? How are you doing?

I'm still presurgery. My date is Aug. 2. Done with all my requirements though, so if I can answer any questions for you, feel free to ask. I start my 2 week preop in 4 days and meet with the anesthesiologist for presurgical work up then as well. I am getting RNY done with Dr. Wu.
