  6. I just like the way it tastes in it's own. (I'm weird). I'll put a small spoonful in my mouth and it takes several minutes for me to get it down, all while enjoying powdery peanutbutteriness. You get all the peanut flavor, but none of the creamy mouth-feel. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Over night bag

All I needed was clean undies, Chapstick, and my outfit for going home. I do recommend bringing a phone charger, just in case. I didn't need mine. My hospital actually provided Chapstick, but I would have been sad if I had left it. I had trouble concentrating to read, so I didn't read my book at all. For women, Aunt Flo loves to show up during times of stress. The hospital will happily get you a pad if you need one, but bring your own if you prefer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Waking up after surgery

I had no tubes except for my IV. I was rather confused as the last thing I remembered was being wheeled into the operating room and transferring to the table. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Struggling

It's hard. I'm six days out myself. The Protein drinks aren't pleasant. Try them over ice (makes it easier for me). It takes me close to two hours to do a Protein Drink. I can eat about two ounces right now. I stop as soon as I feel discomfort or start burping. I'm already sick of sweet, so I concentrate on savory flavors for my food. I've had broth from Thai Tom Yum Kha Soup, cream of wheat with Greek yogurt and some dill and seasoned salt (tastes like tzatziki sauce), and some other cream-based soup. This is all on the "full liquids" part of my diet. I don't move on to purée for another week. My advice is to take tiny bites (1/4 tsp), just dip the tip of your spoon in and eat that. It helps to slow you down. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Risks on WLS

Write down the benefits you could experience, and talk to your doctor about your real risk of complications. I'm fairly young and healthy, to my risks were low, and the benefits were huge. I've seen several people I know have complications, but I've seen many, many more success stories. One other thought. My aunt had WLS 30-odd years ago. She regained most of the weight, but she doesn't regret the experience at all. The time at the lower weight was wonderful and incredibly valuable to her, and she still has some health benefits. Risks on WLS

The risks are why I didn't even consider surgery for years. It took me a long time to decide that the benefits vastly outweighed the potential risks for me. I was the same way with getting laser vision correction. I was terrified, but it ended up being the best decision when I finally decided to do it after 10 years. Broth before surgery

Oh yes, there are two kinds of gas pains. There is the burp/fart gas pain that you are familiar with. Then the surgical gas pain feels like cramps or nerve pain in your neck/shoulder. I wouldn't have associated it with -gas- if I wasn't told ahead of time. Walking helps with both kinds of pain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Broth before surgery

My surgeon recommends sips the size of a Water bottle cap. Maybe a teaspoon in size. I found that was too big the first two days and was drinking micro-sips. I'm five days out and can take a decent sized sip. It doesn't feel like a knife, it's more pressure and then I would need to burp. Any time I have too big a drink I have to burp. Feeling Horrible

Are you on Clear Liquids or full liquids? I'm post-op and still on full-liquids. I really wanted savory today. You can do Soups (or broth). I had some Thai Tom Yum Kha Soup broth for my dinner. For Breakfast and lunch I made a concoction of cream of wheat, plain Greek yogurt, and a pinch of dill and seasoned salt. It reminded me of Tzatziki sauce, and hit the spot. Which Food Did (Or Will) You Miss the Most?

  23. I'm feeling pretty good, but I'm quite tired. (I was sleeved on 7/12) Thinking of walking the boy to school tomorrow morning though. Part of the tired is my reaction to the pain meds. My roommate had a much harder time of it than I did. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
