I haven't tried any of these myself, but folks on another board keep talking about products from Walden Farms. They make a lot of calorie free condiments and sauces. The salad dressings could possibly be OK...but I have no idea how they made calorie free Alfredo sauce and Peanut Butter. I'm not a stickler for no chemicals in my foods. I've been known to eat a Twinkie or five. But calorie free mayo and Alfredo terrify me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Odd Jittery Feeling..
daniotra replied to NeedaBreak4Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little scared of having issues like this. I've had a couple of mornings while on the pre-op diet where I have been a little lightheaded in the morning until I had something to eat with some carbs in it. Live and learn, right? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Can you talk to a nutritionist that also specializes in diabetes? The nutritionist for my program has special training for working with diabetics. Someone like that may be able to help you work out an eating plan to help you minimize the highs and lows. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

To the pasta lover who is afraid to have surgery
daniotra replied to imadethelist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope post surgery I'll eventually be able to do certain foods in moderation (bread!!). I'm learning pre-op to make smaller amounts of foods and to weigh my portions. That helps me a lot with eating reasonable amounts. There are certain foods that I need to eat -all- of it, so I try to stay away from them or only bring home single portions. Bra sales, yay or nay to shop pre-op?

Bra sales, yay or nay to shop pre-op?
daniotra replied to Heather I's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wouldn't do it. LB has bra sales all the time, and a properly fitted bra makes a huge difference in how you look and feel. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Don't stress too much until you see an expert. My husband was sent in for heart testing after his doctor thought he heard a slight murmur. The tests came back abnormal, but the cardiologist said it was very minor. It turned out my husband had a minor defect on one of his heart valves. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Post op woman on the pill question
daniotra replied to mmorris4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Jennifer. I got an IUD. It's weird because it would take a miracle for my husband and I to have a baby the old fashioned way. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Forgot the no straw policy !

It's not that you will cause harm. It's that the air can take up room that you need for food/fluid, and some people find the gas very uncomfortable. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Is it ok to vape after surgery?
daniotra replied to kristiw14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jessjames, I was told it was specifically the nicotine because of the impacts to healing, blood pressure, etc. Doing some quick research, there is some speculation that other components of cigarette smoke may be more impactful to healing than the nicotine itself. Long story short, ask your surgical team what they require! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

No nicotine before surgery, and preferably none afterwards either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
You can take a scarf and use it as a belt. Or you can try dapper-snappers looped through two of your belt loops. I stole one from my kids and it works well to keep my pants up without being distracting. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003IXVFLO/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_a_it?qid=1463602382&sr=8-2&keywords=dapper+snapperπ=SY200_QL40 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It depends on your program. My program allows decaf coffee and tea, but not regular. There is a person in my program who firmly believes his stomal ulcers were caused by his going back to regular coffee. You will hear from others where their program allows it. Ask your doctor and follow his/her advice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You can definitely go without dairy. Lots of people become lactose intolerant and cannot do dairy after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Water classes can be easy, or they can really give you a workout. I loved the one at my last gym. Your doctor sounds like an @ss. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I found the Ninja left a lot of small ice chunks in my smoothies. I was never quite happy with the texture. The chunks were small enough to go through a straw, but were still not smooth. Both Blendtec and VitaMix make the ultra-smooth blends you would get in a smoothie shop. Both have their strengths. I personally went with a VitaMix. I use it daily for my son's feeding tube formula. Fat free, low far, light or regular?
daniotra replied to FabFemale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Certain things I have full fat or I do without. Mayo for example. The light stuff is sweet and is gross. I do without 99% of the time and only use it for artichokes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
The toddy makes a coffee concentrate for you. It's great iced Coffee, and the smoothest cup of hot coffee you have ever had. It's wonderful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

To Sleeve or not to sleeve.....
daniotra replied to finding_onederland's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Only you will be able to decide if the surgery is worth it for you. A lot of people decide to keep doing it on their own when the pre-op weight loss goes well. Some aren't willing to take the risks of surgery. It's a personal choice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
To Sleeve or not to sleeve.....
daniotra replied to finding_onederland's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With less weight, it's easier to exercise. Plus you can build a great support system of people who know what you are going through and can motivate you. Plus it's a big decision to do weight loss surgery. A lot of people aren't willing to waste the time and effort they put into getting the surgery by slacking off. Plus it's a lot easier to re-lose five lbs than 100 lbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I definitely have fat on my labia majora. They are quite plump. I'm hoping to lose some weight down their so my pants fit better. Just say no to camel toe!

I'm still pre-op, but I've noticed that I burp a lot more if I use a straw. I never paid attention before I started looking into surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
