  1. Wow...I'm really hoping that's no where near what they will tell me. I'm supposed to hear something from them in the next day or two and my stomach is in knots right now. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  2. I've been paying $50 co-pays with each visit. Just don't know my out of pocket for the surgery (which I'll have to pay during my pre-op visit)and it makes me nervous.
  3. I just received a call from the surgeon's office with a surgery date of April 18th. She informed me I would receive a call from finance to let me know what I need to pay out of pocket at my pre-op appointment. I hate surprises!!! I know everyone's insurance benefits are different but would love to hear what you had to pay up front. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  4. No you don't sound like a drama queen. I know how hard it was for me to just wait on a response from them for approval and can't even begin to tell you how I would have taken it if they came back with a denial. You've done everything you're supposed to do and your feelings are justified. It makes no sense they wouldn't tell you why though. Try going over the reps head to speak with a manager. If you don't mind me asking, what did they saythey denied you for the last time?
  5. I'm so sorry to hear that. Call and ask questions. Then contact your surgeon's office. I didn't get an answer until I started getting on people's nerves. It took longer than expected but I finally got that approval and believe you will too! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  6. @@Ashoryb when did your surgeon's office submit to insurance? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  7. Thanks. I was so surprised after hearing it on the system that I actually called back to hear it from a rep. The strange thing is she said it was approved on March 15th...which was the same day the other rep said it would be another 24-48 hours before they would make a decision and said I'd probably be denied...just crazy!!! My surgeon's office hasn't called yet so I'm going to give them until tomorrow. I'm just glad to be approved after what seemed like forever. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  8. Called today and expected for the automatic system to say pending but it said approved!!! Over the moon right now. Just waiting to hear from my surgeon's office for the next steps. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

  10. Thanks @liposuction68. They just have me feeling so lost right now. I'm going to regroup and contact them again tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  11. Cigna confirmed receiving my info on March 2nd. I've been calling every few days or so to check the status and just keep getting the same "it's pending". Well today, I said no more basic answers. I called and asked for details because I feel I've been waiting forever. The rep puts me on hold to contact pre-cert so she can give me some type of straight answers. When she comes back, she says she noticed they pushed my paperwork back to a receipt date of March 4th instead of the 2nd. However, because of that error, they will expedite things to give me an answer within 24-48 hours. I was relieved until she said "but I'll go ahead and tell you the rep in the pre-cert department said you will probably be denied because of a lack of weight loss/diet info from August 2015". 1st thing I don't understand is if they require 89+ days and I am 100% sure I have this, why does August 2015 matter? They have Sept 2015 through Feb 2016. I've tried pretty much every diet you could think of so they have me so confused. Could the pre-cert rep just be yapping off at the mouth and not really know the deal? Right now, my info is on the desk of the medical director. This is beyond frustrating!!!!
  12. @@Sarah 82...I have Cigna insurance and they confirm they received my paperwork on March 2nd but I'm still pending. Almost all the post I've read about Cigna say they were approved in about 2 days. Is the fact that I'm going on week 2 and still pending a bad sign? When I called, they said it was being reviewed by a nurse and would then be reviewed by the medical director.
  13. That's awesome news. Congrats! I'm waiting on approval from Cigna now and it's stressful. Who is your insurance company? Why did they keep denying you? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  14. When did your surgeon's office submit to insurance? My surgeon won't even schedule until insurance approval so I'm just waiting. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  15. My NUT said not to chew gum because of gas and it triggering hunger. I'm going to ask my surgeon though just to be sure!
  16. The craziest thing I've tried was something called the 5 bite diet. It's promoted as a diet mimicking the weight one would lose through bariatric surgery but without actually having surgery. You're supposed to wait as long as you can before you eat. When you finally do eat, you have 5 small bites of food 2x a day....it was a total fail!!! Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
