  2. I am only 5 months out from gastric sleeve. I go on Tuesday for revision to gastric bypass. I'm very nervous. I had surgery in the summer so I didn't have to miss work (I'm a teacher). Unfortunately, with an hourglass stricture and a pouch above it holding my food, I am throwing up undigested food. I'm freaking out about the recovery. I only plan to take a week off of work because I'm still a newer teacher without a lot of leave. The note my doctor gave me to bring in states 2-6 weeks. Ugh! I had no pain after sleeve. They said it should be a similar recovery. It wasn't for you guys? We need our own forum for sleeve to bypass!!!

  3. stricture in the middle stomach

    @@Pipergurl

no problems here, but wanted to respond

    sorry you have the stricture

you called doc a few times about prob

he didn't do anything - thought you would be alright??

they are thinking of another surgery?

would they change to gastric bypass

2nd surgery would be covered due to your excessive problems??

hope things move a long in the right direction

    DOS sooner than later

    when were you sleeved?

    good luck

    kathy

I'm not quite 4 months out. The doctor has been telling me since I was one month out that it was all in my head. Talk about screwing up on his part. I want to get a second opinion but no one wants to operate except the one who did the surgery.

  4. They found a stricture in the middle of my stomach this weekend. Because it had been there awhile (despite the fact that I kept having problems and contacting the surgeon), I developed a pouch above it from it stretching to hold the food. Now they're considering more surgery. Anyone out there have anything similar happen? This isn't your normal stricture because it didn't occur where the esophagus joins the stomach.

    Thanks!!!

  5. I'm 2 weeks and 2 days post op. I have zero energy by the time I get home from work. Anyone else have this? I'm struggling to get the fluids and Protein in but im getting more and more in everyday. Today I've had 50g of protein and about 35 oz of fluids.

I do. I am 2 weeks and two days today too. My doctor's office said I should be getting at least 40 oz by now. If I don't, I'll get dehydrated and continue to be exhausted. This could be your energy problem. And just because I am saying that's what the tell me, doesn't mean I'm good at it!

  6. Day 8: the scale finally moved today! I had over 1000 calories yesterday, so apparently just like my other diets, it takes a higher-cal day for my body to let go of weight. I'm now "just" overweight, no longer obese! Hurray!

Headed back into the office today at last. There are only so many TV seasons I can binge on and really keep down, haha.

I'm excited to go camping for 7 nights (beginning this weekend) even though I'll still be on full liquids. (Yes, my surgeon cleared me for it.). The first 5 nights I'll have a cooler and stove, so plenty of premade shakes and broths with unflavored Protein added. The last part will be a coûple-mile backpack in to the remote site: no cooler, refrigeration or blender, but I'll have my Water filter and a stove. I will bring a bunch of low-sodium broth mixes (mushroom, vegetable, Tomato, chicken) and unflavored protein powder; also nectar sweet protein powders. I can cook regular dehydrated stews/chili/oatmeal for my teen, who's coming with me (and carrying most of the weight, haha). I will hike every day but I'm keeping the mileage low and superhydrating. I am so proud of myself for figuring out how to make this happen, even during surgery recovery! NO MORE MISSING OUT ON LIFE BECAUSE OF BEING FAT! Next summer I want to do a 10-day backpack, but I'll be on real foods then so will have more options, plus I'll be able to carry my full pack myself.

I give you so much credit for the camping trip! I don't think I could do that on full liquids without being incredibly jealous of everyone else and end up feeling down. You rock!!!

  7. Is anyone adding flavorless Protein to their Water?

I tried that but it just didn't appeal to me so instead I add it to my sf pudding and my glasses of milk that I have. I'm on full liquids but am an extremely picky eater so all I eat each day is SF pudding, milk, and water. I'm 8 days out and have to do this for 13 more.
