  1. It isnt the size..it's more the Hitchcock like creepiness. .. ha!.

Everything I know about cars is from some POS that I owned that broke down...this like this for me too. No idea at all about this strange condition, never fathomed it would ever be relevant to me.

Ok, horses get these HUGE rocks that form inside them that can cause blockage. I saw one once, from a necroprocy - it was like a good 6-8"....surreal. it makes me wonder about the sense behind it. I mean like why our bodies do this stuff. Makes me grateful for living in a time with such good medical care too. "Good Ole days" - ha, give me novacaine, antibiotics and pain killers over nostalgia any day. I really wonder how people coped with this sort of thing 100 - 10,000 years ago.

Sure hope this all ends for you soon. I'm curious: if this is the second most painful experience....what was the first?

I am constantly questioning the sense behind why things happen and how. I am so grateful for living in a time that isn't the "good ole days". My list actually starts with air conditioning with #2 being painkillers.

  2. I have not met with a dietician yet.

I'm going to whine for a minute.

I'm on day three of no "white" food. Struggling a bit; I'm hungry. The food journaling helps. So far I've stayed under 900 calories per day. I have a headache. Someone said that getting to Ketosis will be easier after a few days. Struggling to drink the 90 ounces of Water.

    Ok, done whining.

I had my Psych eval yesterday and was approved for surgery through them. Now the doctor's office can submit it to my insurance. Then I guess we wait. In the meantime, I have all of the other appointments to go to: Cardiology, Pulmonary, Endoscopy, blood work.

  3. Your Dr didn't give you info on what you can eat? If not, just Google whatever s/he did tell you and you'll find more info than you can deal with. A lot of Drs have it on their website.

I was starving for 2 days, with the 2nd day being the worst by far. This happens when your body is running out of carbs to burn, and it's trying to force you into eating more carbs. You may also have a headache and feel light-headed. It's important to stay on the diet at this point. The hunger will get worse and worse, until suddenly you realize you are not hungry and you actually feel pretty good. This is ketosis, where your body is starting to burn fat instead of carbs. It's kinda fun, because you don't care nearly as much about food. For me, that's a novel experience. From here on out, you should drop weight pretty quickly, if you stick to the diet.

Staying on the diet from this point forward should be fairly easy, as long as you plan well and have the right foods on hand. If you cheat and have a bunch of carbs, you will probably have to go through the miserable hungry stage all over again. Don't do it.

The doctor gave me a list of foods that I am allowed to eat but didn't give me any guidelines on how much of those foods to eat. I'm interested in a menu that I can follow.

Thanks for your explanation of Ketosis. I was just looking that up and trying to determine if it was a good thing or not. Sounds like it may be good. In that case, I can hardly wait to get there.

  4. I'm new here. Hello to all! :) :)

I just had my first consultation appointment with the surgeon on Monday and have started the high Protein, low carb eating plan. I'm really struggling with it - I feel so hungry all of the time.

I'm not even absolutely sure which surgery type I am going to have. I have lots of questions so will be reading the forums a lot!

I'm type 2 diabetic, not on insulin, but I do take an injectable drug called Byetta twice a day with meals.

I feel like I don't know what to eat and wondered if anyone knows where I can go to get a printed diet that tells me exactly what to eat and when. I am keeping a food journal.

I have all of my pre-surgery appointments scheduled but I don't know my surgery date yet.

    P.S. I have a headache.
