  1. Good luck to you, it's an exciting time! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  2. It seems slow now, but it all adds up. That's 20lbs lost that you will never carry again and you should Celebrate that! Congrats! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  3. Hi, I'm 5'2, my starting weight was 261, I'm currently 147 and working to lose 11 more lbs. I had RNY, so different surgery but you asked for ppl with similar stats so I thought I'd reply. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  4. Thank you, congratulations on your recent surgery and best of luck to you. I remember those first few weeks were tough, but it's so worth the outcome! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm rny, I switched to pills at 3 months. Went from 11 chewables a day to 5 tablets, and my life got so much better. The dissolveable/chewable are aweful! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  6. Thank you! That's my favorite compliment to recieve because that is what this is all about! My second favorite was last weekend when I saw someone for the first time in a couple years and they said, "you take up so much less space!" Sounds rude but in the context it was funny and so true! 7. I read an article recently about a man who lost over 100lbs. He stated that he doesn't say he lost 100lbs, he says "I lost 1 lb, one hundred times". I thought that was such a great perspective. This is a journey, it's consistent hard work, not something that just happens overnight. So yes, keep doing what your doing one step and pound at a time. 8. Thanks! My hair is naturally curly. I can't straighten it anymore because there's hardly any left. I swear at least 10lbs lost was from hair loss! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  9. Nothing special really, there's nothing I don't eat, but I mainly stay high Protein low carb. For example tonight's dinner is rotisserie chicken (no skin) and a green salad with tomatoes, cucumber, and onions (and ranch dressing) For lunch today I had a homemade Soup made with with chicken and veggies, I had a banana for a snack and yogurt and coffee for Breakfast. I eat between 800-1000 calories a day now, but I was under 700 until 2 months ago. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  10. Thanks everyone! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  11. These last few lbs are so hard but I'm going to do it!!!! Posting a photo because I spent months looking at before/afters before surgery and I know how much it can inspire others! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  12. Anything is possible, as long as you put in the work! Keep in mind there's more to consider when choosing between sleeve and RNY than amount/rate of weight loss. I initially wanted the sleeve, but through my pre-op testing I found out I had GERD and Barrett's esophagus. That left me with RNY as the only option. I had surgery on 3/14/15, I'm 5'2 with a SW of 261. Currently weighing in at 149 in less than 8 months! It's true that regardless of the surgery you choose you have to put in the work. This last 30lbs is a beast to lose, my tool only helps me get closer to goal. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  13. I'm 8 months out but since about 3 months out I've eaten all fruit; apples, watermelon, pineapple, mango, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, etc. In moderation of course but I love fruit and have it 4-5 times a week. Just take it slow and see how your body reacts to each individual item. Some ppl can't do skins, they don't bother me. Others dump, so take it slow and enjoy! 14. Just celebrated 9 years of wedded bliss with my 12th and final match.com date! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  15. Incredible! Such a difference in 2 months. Congrats! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  16. I gave it up for 6 weeks after surgery to let myself heal but my surgeon gave me the all clear after that. I drink it daily Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  17. I was given a straw in my Water, in the hospital, 4 hours after my surgery. I really think this is a myth! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  18. cdeisroth,I just got the fitbit charge 2 this last Saturday. How did you sync your fitbit to my fitness pal? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App In the myfitnesspal app on my phone there is an option for "apps and devices" in the main menu. Click that then search for the "fitbit tracker" and follow the instructions from there. Make sure you also have the Fitbit app on your phone as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  19. Yes, got it 4 weeks ago at Kohls. Got the Fitbit Alta, was $99.99 but I had kohls cash so I only paid $69.99. It totally motivates me to move and I've exercised more in the past 4 weeks than I have in the first 6 months after my surgery combined. I use all the features and have it connected to my fitness pal so it tracks my calories in and out. Also tracks my Water, steps, and sleep patterns. I highly recommend Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  20. I did! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  21. I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon this week, 7 months post-op. He told me I'm doing fantastic, should lose about 15 more lbs, and then, looking me dead in the eye and stated, "damn, I did a good job!" He did, and I did too! I'm in shock daily at how for I've come this year. My head hasn't caught up yet though, and most days I still feel fat, despite what i see in the mirror. I'm OK with that though, because gives me the motivation to keep making good choices and keeps me from being complacent. My husband and I went out last night to Celebrate our anniversary and we took a picture together (the one on the right, cropped him out for privacy). I just keep staring at it, I can't believe it's me, what I have dreamed of accomplishing all of my life. Anyway, no real point to this post, other than I feel good, I feel happy, and I just wanted to share that damn, we're all doing a good job! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  22. I did not have a 2 week pre-op diet, just 24 hours of clear liquids. All went very well Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  23. They might, I didn't think mine would but the company called and negotiated with them on my behalf. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  24. https://www.nascobal.com/patient/save-with-nutrition-direct I use this program. They send me all of my Vitamins, automatically, every month. They contacted my insurance and negotiated a $25 monthly fee. It is awesome! They automatically deduct the payment from my checking account and the shipment arrives like clockwork. For the first 6 months I got dissolveable pills, now I get the swallowable pills. All are formulated for Bariatric patients. I highly reccomend Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  25. This is one of the most inspiring stories I have ever read on here. I had my RNY this year at 34 years old. I did not have many health issues; mild sleep apnea, pre-diabetic, and a resting heart rate of 94. I was right on track to be where you were in 20 years. I'm down 107lbs since March and 18lbs to goal and after reading your story feel even more confident in the decision I made to have surgery. Thank you for sharing!
