  1. I feel like I should tell you yes because I don't want anyone to think they can do this without excersizing, but truthfully I'm not consistent. I do get 10000 steps a day (fitbit keeps me motivated) and walk 45 minutes to an hour 3 times per week. I need to increase this for maintenence. Where I'm lacking is the toning. I am in serious need of toning, especially my backside and arms. Stomach is a lost cause!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  2. At 8 months i feel like im in a very "normal" place. Meaning my food choices dont look too different from average folks, its just that my portions are smaller. I know that is a concern for a lot of new folks , that you will always look different or stand out when it comes to food. At first your choices are so limited and your portions are so small that that people may notice. At this point however people don't even realize that you're not eating bread are sugar free drinks. When I go out I order off the regular menu and the portions are so huge that other people don't really track how much you're eating. I still have trouble getting in all of my protein, not because I can't, but because I get sick of protein foods in general. I do still use shakes a few times per week. My food tolerance is pretty strong, meaning not much bothers me, except sugar. I do dump if I eat too much. Yesterday I ate honey nut cheerios dry (not a wise choice I admit) which ended up making me feel like I was going to die! I have learned to stop before getting too full, that was hard at first but now I know when I'm satisfied. When I go out to eat, most people don't even realize I'm eating less. A normal day looks like this: Breakfast-greek yogurt or Protein shake and coffee Lunch- homemade chicken Soup or salad with chicken Snack- whole piece of fruit Dinner- 1.5 meatballs, 2 tbsp Pasta, 1/4 cup green Beans Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  3. I was a sweets eater also, that was a big part of my decision. I then found out I had GERD (silent, didn't feel it) which caused Barrett's esophagus, that was what did it for me. Sleeve would have been a dangerous option for me. I like the fear of dumping syndrome, it keeps me in check. I'm also impatient and wanted to lose the weight fast. So far the malabsortion isn't an issue, bloodwork is fine, but ultimately the test of time will tell in this case. It's a very personal decision, both are good options, both have their pros and cons so I encourage you to write them down and talk with your dr. 11. I'm rny, I switched to pills at 3 months. Went from 11 chewables a day to 5 tablets, and my life got so much better. The dissolveable/chewable are aweful! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  12. Thank you! That's my favorite compliment to recieve because that is what this is all about! My second favorite was last weekend when I saw someone for the first time in a couple years and they said, "you take up so much less space!" Sounds rude but in the context it was funny and so true! 13. I read an article recently about a man who lost over 100lbs. He stated that he doesn't say he lost 100lbs, he says "I lost 1 lb, one hundred times". I thought that was such a great perspective. This is a journey, it's consistent hard work, not something that just happens overnight. So yes, keep doing what your doing one step and pound at a time. 14. Thanks! My hair is naturally curly. I can't straighten it anymore because there's hardly any left. I swear at least 10lbs lost was from hair loss! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  15. Nothing special really, there's nothing I don't eat, but I mainly stay high Protein low carb. For example tonight's dinner is rotisserie chicken (no skin) and a green salad with tomatoes, cucumber, and onions (and ranch dressing) For lunch today I had a homemade Soup made with with chicken and veggies, I had a banana for a snack and yogurt and coffee for Breakfast. I eat between 800-1000 calories a day now, but I was under 700 until 2 months ago. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App

    Is my goal weight achievable?

Anything is possible, as long as you put in the work! Keep in mind there's more to consider when choosing between sleeve and RNY than amount/rate of weight loss. I initially wanted the sleeve, but through my pre-op testing I found out I had GERD and Barrett's esophagus. That left me with RNY as the only option. I had surgery on 3/14/15, I'm 5'2 with a SW of 261. Currently weighing in at 149 in less than 8 months! It's true that regardless of the surgery you choose you have to put in the work. This last 30lbs is a beast to lose, my tool only helps me get closer to goal. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App

    Fruit after bypass

I'm 8 months out but since about 3 months out I've eaten all fruit; apples, watermelon, pineapple, mango, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, etc. In moderation of course but I love fruit and have it 4-5 times a week. Just take it slow and see how your body reacts to each individual item. Some ppl can't do skins, they don't bother me. Others dump, so take it slow and enjoy! Do you love your Fitbit ?

cdeisroth,I just got the fitbit charge 2 this last Saturday. How did you sync your fitbit to my fitness pal? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T337A using the BariatricPal App In the myfitnesspal app on my phone there is an option for "apps and devices" in the main menu. Click that then search for the "fitbit tracker" and follow the instructions from there. Make sure you also have the Fitbit app on your phone as well. Do you love your Fitbit ?

Yes, got it 4 weeks ago at Kohls. Got the Fitbit Alta, was $99.99 but I had kohls cash so I only paid $69.99. It totally motivates me to move and I've exercised more in the past 4 weeks than I have in the first 6 months after my surgery combined. I use all the features and have it connected to my fitness pal so it tracks my calories in and out. Also tracks my Water, steps, and sleep patterns. I highly recommend Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
