    Before photos.....

I did not want to take before photos at all and you can see it in my face in the pictures. But, I'm so glad I did. I'm only 6 weeks post op but I can already see the difference thanks to those pictures! You'll be so happy you took them once the weight starts coming off. They will remind you of all you have accomplished!

    Jeans that fit

I don't know what size you are but if you are a 12 or above I suggest the jeans at torrid. They have a decent stretch to them so you can buy a size that fits your legs and butt and they will still stretch around your tummy. I have always had slimmer legs, no butt and have carried my weight in my stomach so these have been my go to jeans for years. They are a little pricey but the often have but 1 get one 50% off sales and coupons you can find online.
  3. Wow you look fantastic! Makes me excited to see where I'll be in 2 more months!
  4. I hate taking pictures of myself but I think it's so important to document this journey! I had my RNY on 3/14/16 and have lost 30lbs since the surgery and 50lbs since my highest weight of 261lbs in January. I still have a long way to go, 86lbs to goal to be exact, but I'm so proud of my progress so far and wanted to share! 2016 RNY's, How are you all doing?

    laxatives?

I went through 2 awful weeks of constipation. Used dulcolax to finally "go" and then started taking a stool softener daily and haven't had any issues since!

How long was your pre-op process?

My insurance did not require a 6 month wait. I had my first consult on 1/29/16 and had my surgery on 3/14/16. In that time I had to have 2 psych consults, 3 nutritionist visits, 1 pcp visit, an upper endoscopy, a sleep study, and a breathing test with a pulmanologist.

    PreOp Diet

I did not have a pre-op diet. Just clear liquids the day before. Everything went perfectly during surgery.

  9. The exact same thing happened to me. I had my surgery on 3/14. It lasted about two weeks, until I went back to work.

I'm in, goal weight is 199
  11. And thank you. What was the "stink" part for you? Are you up and moving well now? Driving? I'm not a big pain pill person so if that is the only holdback I should be able to drive relatively soon post surgery?Hi LisaThe gas pains were the worst part, also getting up and down really hurt. I'm up and about now and can drive, even went shopping yesterday, just need to take it slower than normal. I stopped the pain pills 4 days ago and now I would say I'm just a little sore around one of my incisions that makes it a little difficult to get up off the couch or out of bed. I have not had children and this is my first abdominal surgery. The people I know who have had both say bypass is easy compared to a c section! Colleen
  12. You'll be fine! I only had to do one day of Clear Liquids the day before but ate as normal right up until then (a high Protein low fat diet). Its normal to be nervous, it's surgery and it's extreme, but you did your research and went through this process for a reason. I had my RNY exactly one week ago. To be honest the first few days stink but I promise it will get better. Good luck on Wednesday!
  13. I used Dr. Prokurat in Freehold but I believe he is dropping Horizon at the end of the month. I think there is another surgeon in his practice, Dr. Noyan
  14. Happy to report I'm 6 days post op and the gas pains are gone thank god! I have to work all day to get my fluids in and I think today will be the first day I meet my protein goal! Everything initially, even Water was sitting like a brick but it's getting better and better every day. I'm right there with you with the head hunger. I know I'm not hungry but last night my husband made himself BLTs for dinner and I wanted to strangle him! He agreed to not make bacon again until I'm back in solid food! You went through a lot in your surgery and seem like a very strong person to have such a positive attitude. Congrats!
  15. I believe my PCP included a 2 year documented weight history in my letter of medical necessity. I mentioned to her that I had been obese since age 12 so she included that phrase in the letter as well. If you don't have a PCP you can get your weight history documented from any physician you have visited in the past couple years.
  16. Hi I have Horizon BCBS and I was also approved in 24 hours. I was also not required to do a 6 month medically supervised diet. I just had to prove that I had dieted at some point in the past 12 months with a letter from my PCP. I started this process on January 19th by going to a seminar and just had my RNY 4 days ago, March 14th. At home recovering now. My starting BMI was 47 and I was 43 on the day of surgery. I believe they go by your starting BMI. Good luck!
  17. Hi This is my first post but I have been following for a long time. I just had my RNY Gastric Bypass on March 14th. I was discharged from the hospital yesterday March 16th. I had researched and researched but I don't think I was prepared for the amount of pain I would be in. A lot pressure from the gas and also a couple of the incision sites. I have been walking several times a day(even showered yesterday) but at this point I can only function with pain meds. To those who have already had their March RNYs, How are you feeling? I realize I'm only 3 days out (even less since my surgery didn't get started until 9pm on the 14th) so I need to be patient but I just want to feel like myself again. Any words of inspiration and hope would be lovely. HW 261 BMI 47 SW 239 Colleen
