  1. The sleeve is a tool that you're going to use to lose as much weight as you're willing to work for. There is no magical formula inside of the sleeve that says you're only going to lose 70 pounds. That's ridiculous and I'm personally upset that was said by a "professional." The game doesn't change... Weight loss is still going to be about eating less than you burn.

  2. My packet says to start Vitamins as soon as I get home :) my program recommends the chewable vitamins for at least a month. My place has their own line of Vitamins and protein- called Journey- and they just reformed their vitamins to be capsules that can be opened. I wasn't sure how I would tolerate chewing the fruity vitamins, so now I'll be able to just open the capsule and sprinkle the Vitamin into whatever

  3. I haven't had my surgery yet either. I was asking if they've mentioned blood thinners to you because I wasn't sure if everyone goes home on them or not- kinda like the pre-op diet debate, it may only be some surgeons that do that. Also, did I read correctly that you're wanting to be back to work "before 10 weeks" ? It shouldn't be close to that unless you have complications, right?

  5. If you've been on the pre-op for a week and you've lost 5 pounds... That means you've cut 17,500 calories over the past week. It is pretty difficult to lose 5lbs in a week, especially if you aren't counting calories (as you said). Keep that in perspective and don't lose hope. You're doing fine and you have control over your own success!

  7. My surgeon recommended starting a basic Multivitamin to make sure levels are optimal before surgery. He also suggested selecting my Protein powder so that I don't forget about it. He said any exercises I can do, including abdominal exercises, will help me in the long run. I have been trying to eat clean, drink plenty of Water, and stay healthy. I'm 20 days out from surgery. my liquid diet starts in about 2 weeks. Did your surgery center give you a binder or anything with tips and instructions?

  8. I am having surgery on 3/30. I had a couple of concerned friends, but once I explained that I knew what I was getting myself into, they came around. Sharing my binder of info with them seemed to really help. My mom was also worried until she talked to my PCP (who is also her PCP) about it and he told her it was a great choice for me. I just told everyone at work this week because I got my surgery date. They all seem excited for me. I haven't announced anything on Facebook yet and I don't think I will until I have a success story. Too many people know someone who knows someone who had a bad experience. Side effects are a reality but some people also flat out do not follow what they are supposed to do.

Do you girl and good luck! I wish everyone success

  9. If you don't want to tell anybody, don't! You certainly don't have to tell anybody what you're surgery is for.

However, I told my coworkers and my boss. I am confident in my decision. I shared some material with them from my binder that I got from the Bariatric center. If you're confident, educated, and excited, why not tell people about the journey you're on? I have been met with nothing but support and curiosity. There is a stigma associated with WLS but there doesn't have to be if we could be more open about it.
