I need advise! I have cheated 8 days post-op.
Toledogirl replied to lillster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hell, I had a tuna salad sandwich by week two. I hated myself for it, then I realized that it was probably pretty stupid for me to eat it and that I just put myself through surgery and why did I make that choice to eat that!!! -
Ok, this probably has been asked a million times but.....I had my first fill on Thursday and I have been eating like a pig all weekend. Do I call first thing in the a.m. and tell my doc that I need more? Or ride it out a while and see if my restriction magically appears? I see so many people posting about how it took a week or two for their fill to work. I don't know what to do. I could use a little input. Thanks.

By the way Niki, Just my two cents worth, but I would tell your doc that you want a proper adjustment because you paid for this procedure and it's not doing you any good to wait a few months in between and not lose any weight! It kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me. The band is supposed to help you. Think of the weight you could be losing if you had the proper restriction? Especially if you have to pay like I do every time you get a fill. You went to the trouble to get this done, now ask your doc to do his part. I'm not trying to sound as harsh as this is coming across. I am just a firm believer in getting what you deserve and sometimes I don't think docs like to listen to what their patients are trying to tell them. I hope I don't offend you with this. I'm not trying to. :couch2: Kim

Well all, I went back into the docs today. He gave me 5 cc's last thursday and I still felt nothing. He put in 3 more today and I could'nt even get my water down! It felt like it was sitting in my throat! We ended up with adding just 2 cc's instead and boy can I feel it now!!! I'm so excited!
-
I'm getting ready to drink one now. Just had 2 more cc's added to my fill so might take a while to get it all down :couch2:

Ok this is going to sound really retarded and some of you are probable going to go "whatever" but I have found that when I'm craving sweets, especially chocolate, I have 8 oz. skim milk with these powder chocolate citrucel Fiber shakes.....I know what your all thinking, but they do taste pretty good and curbs the chocolate thing. Keeps you regular too!!!

I think that these are very good questions!!! I have often wondered about pb'ing my self. I think I had a mini pb once or maybe it was a slime? All I that happened was this slimy goo came up and.....well...nevermind...but nothing else came up.

LapBand Adjustment & Management Guidelines
Toledogirl replied to SouthTX LapBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just read this in Jessie's book. The book is awesom by the way. Lots of info. -
Again, I'm glad someone is thinking on the same wave length as me. I just had my first fill today. First of all I did'nt even know I had a VB! I thought I could hold 4 cc and then today I found out other wise. On a good note though, he filled me with 5cc right off the bat, I had Soup for dinner and I can't really tell if it's working. Should I feel restriction right away? Just wondered.
-
I can see letting the gift thing go, but not seeing what was going on with dinner and you making an effort is just rude!! I'd have kicked my husband square in his ass and told him to sit down at the dinner table!

When did your fills really start to work for you?
Toledogirl replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm so glad you all have posted this info. I have'nt had my first fill yet and this is great to know. Do think he'll fill me like to 2 ccs right of the bat if I ask him too? I know I don't want to be too restricted and all, but I can't afford to keep going back for a second and third and fourth etc. -
I'm in !!!!

then, what's this???? Liquid starts pouring out of my mouth.... I hear a cart and footsteps coming around the corner and think frantically - what to do now???? Run down the sidewalk toward the beach. :faint: Ok, of all the advice you have been giving me!!!! Luckily, with all the crap I have been eating I have not had this pleasure yet. Of course I have not tried real meat yet. I have had the golf ball in my chest thing though. Sorry to hear about your experience. I hope you were ok quickly after that and it did not ruin your night. Take care kimmy girl!

Ok, there might be some peeps here that cringe when I say this, but turkey bacon is actually pretty good!!! Less fat, etc.. and if you put it in the microwave for a really long time, it actually gets crispy like real bacon!

Ok, I'm here to complain again. Or maybe have someone tell me this is normal, or ok or something. I was banded on 1/9/06 and I am down about 18 lbs now. Great right? Well, I don't know if I heal faster than most people or this just isn't working for me. I have no discomfort anymore from the surgery and can eat anything I want. I am only supposed to be on the mushies right now and I was eating steamed broccli and cauliflower for dinner! I know my time right now is supposed to be for healing. But I'm wondering if I need a fill at my 6 week visit. Will the Doc do this so soon? Am I doing something wrong, did the band slip? How come it seems weird to me that it doesn't bother me to eat food. I am discouraged that I can eat chicken already and it does'nt bother me. I am actually anticipating feeling like crap after eating something and it's like I was never banded at all!!! HELP!!!! Kim

thanks to all of you. I think I was feeling very whiny when I wrote that post. I feel alot better knowing some of you have gone throught he same thing. I know I am definately not eating as much. I used to be able to kill a large pizza by myself. Tonight my husband got me a small veggie pizza and I could only eat two really small pieces!! So something is working. Anyway, I think I'm going to start that monthly thing anyway and I feel bloated and like hell to begin with. This too shall pass. Thanks for all your support. I just love this site. :biggrin1:

I have one on the back of my shoulder. I have'nt seen it in a long time (it's like trying to look at my shoes, I just don'et move like that any more) Ironically, since you posted this, one of my rewards when I hit my goal is a new tattoo.

Newly Banded And Not Sure I Did The Right Thing!!!!!!
Toledogirl replied to Kristen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm right here with ya girlfriend.... I was banded january 9 and was feeling the same way, no restriction, could eat a horse and yada yada, but I have lost almost 15 lbs. I actually did some dancing in my living room tonight. It made me feel TONS better just getting up and moving!!!! I'm trying to stick with mushies at least, had part of a chicken quesadilla last night and a little spagetti tonight. Oh yea, I have the same port pain when i was dancing, just take it easy, and get moving!!!! HANG IN THERE KIDDO!!!!! Kim -
Ok, I need some serious helpl. Had my one week post-op today. All is well so he says. I have a hematoma where my port is (is this common) it feels like a hernia because it feels like a big ball with a knife in it. I'm supposed to be on liquids still but could eat a side of beef (is this common) I can't eat as much as they want me too, but as far as going off liquids, I ate a few bites of mac and chees and it did'nt bother me at all! (is this normal) Am I healing quicker, did it not work! What's with the hematoma? Anyone with any answers, opinions, suggestions, I'd appreciate it. What does restriction feel like? Kim
-
well, during the post op visit he said that it was a "pool" of blood and it will cause some discomfort (go figure, right at the port site) but that my body will reabsorb the blood within a couple of weeks. Is is normal to have so much pain there anyway? Especially when I cough, I feel like I'm still walking around a little slumped over. Just wondered. I actually ate mashed cauliflower tonight, and a little spagetti with just sauce, no meat. I was ok.

Hey Kim, it's me Kim:) I'm glad you asked the question because I was going to post one myself. I think it is more blockage too. I have yet to feel really full! In fact I don't really feel restricted. I have eaten mac and cheese with my son (a few bites) thinking it was going to kill me, but it did'nt bother me at all. Now I'm bothered it did'nt bother me if that makes sense. I'm a week post op and still doing liquids as well but I'm wondering whats up?
