The forums are getting out of control
well. I don't know on the app. on the computer it is up in the right where your name is, then under settings, then choose ignore preferences and that is where you can add user names of who you want to ignore.

The journey to health.....
I think the end goal has to be put one foot in front of the other and continue to move forward! I posted a picture a few weeks ago of my uncle who is an inspiration to me. He probably had close to 200-250 to loose when he had the sleeve a few years ago. He is, well he's got to be around 70, and he is not going to get down to "goal" weight. but the surgery has saved his live. The last time I saw him before sleeve I cried for an hour as my husband drove towards Tennessee, convinced I would not see him again this side of heaven. He was so ill. heart disease, kidney disease, bad diabetes. I did not know he was having the sleeve. Since the sleeve he has lost over 100 pounds and had a kidney removed for cancer. His wife had colon cancer discovered and he was able to do what he needed to do to care for her and to be present as she declined. The surgery saved his live, and gave him back a life worth living. Recently my cousin posted that her daughter and niece spent the night at Grandpa's house after Prom (because he lives in town) - what memories! I know he is thankful to be there for them. For me, as I went on my journey to WLS it was discovered that I had a high WBC - it was bad. So, PET scans, cat scans, blood tests, repeat repeat. End of the day I have enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen. It is either Cancer, a serious kind of infection or sclerosing mesenteritis. Right now they think the last thing is most likely. I thought I was never going to have the sleeve, even though my oncologist said getting the weight off was the best thing for me in order to fight off whatever it is. I was confused and scared. Finally had 1 !!! normalish WBC and was able to get approved. but it ain't over. I go back to oncology in July. We are two of the ones for whom the cosmetic benefits are a BONUS - no longer a diabetic, almost off bp meds, and I really feel this surgery has given me the best chance at a future where I can enjoy my grown kids and grandchild. I am so thankful. I am thankful for you too.

Did people's treatment of you change as you lost weight?
it's going to be interesting to me to see how I change, but also how different groups of people perceive me. I was not heavy growing up, or as a young adult. So as the weight comes off when I go home on vacation - how will that people group respond vs. people in Tennessee who have only known me obese? I am just curious. It is akin to being known as the woman with 7 children for so many years, but now that all but one are grown as I make new friends they do not perceive me in that way - and are shocked! (don't know why?!?) to learn I have 1. children who are almost 30 and 2. so many of them! these things have helped me to take myself less seriously, so that's a good thing.

The forums are getting out of control
it is important to keep an eye on where things are posted. to the OP, you may not want to visit the rants and raves, or more social areas if you prefer to keep to a particular bariatric topic. But as many of us will hopefully become friends (because I think it is very important to have friends who are going through the same issues as you are - it is a *key* to long term success) we will often veer off into left field, just as we do when talking to friends in regular daily life. I have left a lot of other boards because everyone just wants everything to be "nice" and "get along" and I really believe STUFFING feelings and thoughts is an important reason some of us became overweight.

Losing control
I would suggest something gentle like yoga. I like the Peggy Cappy videos. while, yes it is exercise, her videos I think would actually help you unwind, which I think you are in serious need to do. stress can do a serious number on our bodies! I have a 15-20 minute bedtime routine that pretty much anyone could do. Also maybe treat yourself to epsom salts baths - to calm and destress. if you can get some with lavender I think that might be beneficial. and just stick with what you know to do, Protein and Water, Vitamins and Calcium, low carb. move as you can. you can do this! and you will be extra pleased with yourself when you do.

Binge eating and emotional eating
maybe replace with a different behavior? I tend to binge clean. when I am super stressed or upset I could stay up all night cleaning a room.

What does it feel like when you eat too much or too fast?
looking forward to seeing your success!

Clothes Shopping
Goodwill - especially their half off or 99 cent days. A lot of UNWORN clothes there that people bought and didn't fit. I will be shopping some clearance sales as the seasons change - and there are a few staples I will keep buying as regular in smaller sizes because I know they will fit a longer time (yoga pants and such that are forgiving and will cover a wider size range) Thankfully I am good with the sewing machine, so I can also alter a little bit. but it is clearly time to measure for new bras. I will pick them up at TJ Maxx as soon as I can get some help with the measuring. ill fit a longer time (yoga pants and such that are forgiving and will cover a wider size range)

What does it feel like when you eat too much or too fast?
if I eat too much it feels like after Thanksgiving (that has happened exactly TWICE) and I have to lay down for about 20 minutes, or drink to encourage some to move on. if I eat too fast or slightly too much or too big of a bite I get really burpy. so I have learned to back off and be satisfied with less.

The Great Arse Face Experiment (Or - Does Haemorrhoid Cream really help with your turkey neck?)

I'm so close!
it's normal, and to be expected. you are changing key things about your life. hang in there, it's worth it! for me I was more afraid of the risks with staying heavy than I was of the surgery.

NSV, or, Ouch! My butt!
now you've made me laugh out loud! I have to make sure I do not sit in my chair for too long, or I get a pain in my rear, right where my tailbone is. but at least it gets me up and moving every half hour or so.
