  1. I am on instragram, often food, but it's mostly garden stuff at the moment. one never knows what I might post. christinamo7
  2. I can only speak for myself
  3. oh, sometimes I find really lovely fabric for blouses and skirts at fabric.com or farmhousefabrics. I can do it for less than good clothes cost, and I am good enough to be making designer equivalent in terms of the quality of the sewing I've been sewing for 40 years (yikes.that's the truth slapping me in the face right there) - but when I was always trying to loose weight and now when I am actually loosing I don't want to invest the *time* in making my clothes. I plan to make a RED wool swing coat this winter. I can hardly wait. Trying to decide what color of satin lining to use. black? hot pink? or should I find something plaid for the lining???
  4. how fabric feels is the most important thing to me! I can't wait to get to a sustainable size so I can invest in making my own clothes again and have things *exactly* how I want them.
  5. any suggestions?
  6. I am looking forward to following your progress towards this lofty goal!
  7. what can you accomplish in a month? wow. I am amazed when I see my month end summary. hmmmm. I might need to step up a little, it would be awfully sweet to make 100 miles in a month. map my walk says I have walked 32.7 hours - 16426 calories - 44 workouts - 90.1 miles in April. this is just from working out - I don't track my daily in the course of living walking. I am so thankful for this sleeve.
  8. I nursed all of my babies, but that was a long time before my sleeve - I just want to encourage you to try! and just make sure you are getting enough fluids and calories. don't be afraid of healthy food. I miss that special time with them.
  9. I think you've got a good plan, let us know how it all works out!
  10. look, I think most of us had a few little food parties - but the truth is the better you eat now - the more veg and nutritious food you have, the better your body will be prepared to recover from what is major surgery, so just keep that in the back of your mind!
  11. @@OKCPirate - remember when you said that? Allow me to direct your eyes to the quote below: I stand corrected. The women here will treat us like a side of beef (albeit a much smaller side of beef) I hope that is ok !!
  12. mine was over a year, but that is because my testing found a medical problem that needed to be resolved before moving forward.
  13. great! keep us posted on how you're doing. for me that first month was the most difficult time. but it's WORTH IT.
  14. this is my husband's *favorite* side effect of my surgery, because for 20 years now he has been cold because I was so hot natured.
  15. good for you! Diabetes was my main motivating factor.
  16. I was afraid I would be the only person the sleeve didn't work for, because no matter what I did before I couldn't loose much weight, but if you follow the plan, it works. hang in there. I think the first 2 weeks po are the hardest part. *head games* it's brutal.
  17. I would eat eggs, they are rich in Protein and Biotin. If you'd rather have a food source rather than supplement. you can also do an egg and honey hair mask, there are tons of recipes online. I'm not really worried about it. I'd rather loose some hair and have saggy skin than be fat. I do use coconut oil on my skin after my bath, I float the jar in the warm Water and then baste myself with the hot oil. it feels LOVELY. I've only lost 1/3 of my excess weight but so far only a little bit of sag. We'll see.
  18. in the meantime I would choose a style of panties that will not let it pop out the bottom, more of a regular brief style. I love the brief style at Soma.com that has the lace at the waist. they do not look or feel like granny panties to me. (although as I am a Grandmother, take that fashion advice with a grain of salt, lol) you may want something like a spanx style shorts or some such that would hold it all in together. My mother lost 150 pounds about 24 years ago (has kept off more than 100 of it despite heel problems!!) and she just wears jeans with some spandex and tucks it into her jeans. she hates doctors and so plastics are not going to happen for her.
  19. my work place is not good. staff has been cut to where we all have to do the job 3 employees were doing 4 years ago. We are under a lot of pressure and not spoken to nicely if everything does not get done. but, I keep applying for other things, and in the meantime I get up and come in. It has been so miserable that my husband and I have written out a 2 year plan to where if he gets an expected promotion this summer we will start ticking things off the list and once complete I will quit and go home if I have not found something I like doing. Hoping in my 5 year plan will be grandchildren (please) who live close enough for me to keep them during the day so their parents won't need daycare. We'll see. my only grandboy right now lives in Arkansas - but with 6 grown children someone closer is bound to get the urge to have children sooner or later! two are engaged at least, that gives me hope.
  20. if your two week diet is to shrink your liver so they can get it out of the way then it is not extreme. you want them to be able to *easily* get to your inside bits that they need to get to. I was "lucky"? in that I did not have to do a two week liquid diet. why? I was sick all last year and my most recent cat scan showed that while I still had fatty liver (looking forward to seeing if that has changed in July!) my liver was already small enough to safely do surgery, so I just had to do liquids the afternoon before and Water only the day of surgery. but I had been quite sick all year, so in my mind maybe you're the lucky one having to do the 2 weeks. all I can do is echo Jamie - if you do cheat please do so with something other than carbs, and try not to cheat. it's in your own best interests. and hey, for me the liquid diet I was on after surgery was the roughest patch - only liquids and hormones going crazy, but if you can make it through that a whole new world is ready to open at your feet.
  21. boxing. that sounds like a good work out.
  22. excellent read. my experience was different at the beginning - because I was around 32 when I became obese - but some of the issues with people judging what I should or should not be eating, or assuming that I was eating a certain way. My end goal is to be healthier. whether that is at 180 - 160 - or 130 pounds - I am ok with. just planning to stick with my program and see where it settles. I am already off diabetes meds, almost of bp meds and weigh less than the husband. so, if other people do not view me as a success because I don't get thin enough to suit them, I don't really care. I'm a happy girl already and it is only going to get better.
