  1. if I am drinking whiskey on ice, my family apologizes whether they did anything wrong or not. it I am drinking it straight up they just back out of the room as quietly as possible. this has only happened on 3-4 occasions, but it's usually bad news for someone if I am drinking whiskey and not in my coffee.
  2. the first time that happened for me I made the husband get up out the the living room and come in to the bathroom to see. he did not really 'get' why it pleased me so much, but he was more than happy to help Celebrate, haha.
  3. I don't know if I am open minded or not, but I do have a husband and daughter with Asperger's so I am used to social anxiety, I am certainly willing to be a friend to you as you go through this process.
  4. when you say only nice comments please, do you mean someone might be allowed to disagree nicely, or you only want people who agree with you to comment? *moving right along* edited because on second reading I see at the end you answered my question.
  5. I keep mine in the back or the fridge or the freezer. I measure out my servings into small plastic containers, and have them with a few dried cherries. a good snack.
  6. what kinds of food are you looking for?
  7. please let us know how the rest of this goes. I am very sorry you are getting this shock right at the end.
  8. @@KindaFamiliar yes it has! but I have yet to catch anyone in there to talk to. maybe it's me..............
  9. if you have any complications you will need FMLA. I strongly recommend that you take it - even if the ones who know will have NO business talking about it unless you welcome them to do so. on another local group a lady has just lost her job because she had issues post surgery and had not taken out FMLA. mine covers me for a full year.
  10. that must be why it's such a popular vacation destination.
  11. the thing about an internet forum is you are going to get *all* kinds of feedback. take the time to invest in this community and be open and you will get back more than you put into it. I only saw helpful answers. You have lost a lot of weight. I also retain Water, and my doctor wants to wean me off my diuretic due to my blood pressure is normal now. I am scared of that! but it needs to happen. so I will bravely march forward. it may stall me for "weight" loss but I doubt it will stall my "fat" loss, and really, at the end of the day, isn't it the fat loss that matters? the scale is only one measurement. keep going, and try not to compare your journey to other people's journey.
  12. YES! that was always a fear of mine, so I would sit on the edge of the seat frame until I knew how the chair would do if it was a folding chair.
  13. my doctor authorized 4 weeks, and I took out FMLA to protect my job - just in case - but I had no complications and I went back after a week, however since my job does not respect healthy boundaries I had the doctor limit me to 6 hour days for the remainder of the first month. in my opinion you will probably be fine, but it is better to plan for the worst and hope for the best so you don't get caught short. and congrats on getting your date!
  14. I don't know if it is funny or not, but I love that my boobs don't try to strangle me when I lay down at night anymore. no more sleeping with two pillows to elevate my head! sometimes it is those little everyday victories that mean so much to us!
  15. one of the reasons I wanted surgery was due to developing diabetes. I work in an eye doctors office, and admittedly I see diabetics with serious problems, and it was probably more scary for me than the average person. So, I understand their thinking. BUT. you have to decide with your team what is in YOUR best interests overall. I am personally more afraid of the complications of obesity than I was from surgery. You will find a lot of caring people here who will tell you the surgery saved their life, and that it is the best thing that ever happened to them. I am so glad I was brave enough to make this change for my future. nothin but happy with my sleeve.
  16. I have a grandma great who came from County Cork.
  17. THIS is priceless! I had been wondering how the visit went. I will see my parents this weekend for the first time since my surgery. the reaction won't be as good as yours, but I am looking forward to seeing how they respond.
  18. Bless. there's never a good time for this kind of thing, and my heart goes out to you. You will emerge like a butterfly, but I know how hard it is in the meantime. my first husband divorced me after 9 years and with 5 children under 8 because he thought it would solve all his problems to get rid of me. it was a very difficult time for me, and especially the year after, but once I got on my feet again I am forever thankful that I did not have to grow old with him.
  19. Thank you. It does help to hear others have been in a similar situation and eventually got there. I hope you're doing well now that you've had your surgery!! Thank you, I think I am? symptoms are down. I'll have a repeat of cat scan and bloodwork in July, and see what that tells us. I am very thankful I was able to find a way, and I do not want you to give up either!
  20. now I've got 'Men At Work' stuck in my brain.
  21. whenever needed I turn off the lights in my little office and take a "nap" during lunch. deep breathing, classical music, no lights and feet up. I don't actually get all the way asleep, but it does wonders for hitting the reset button.
  22. I am hoping and praying you can get some help and get this resolved. And it is time for insurance to start covering the one thing that has a good chance at helping with obesity issues. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I know exactly how you feel. I started in February 2015 and wanted to get surgery last year as after an auto accident and hysterectomy I had met my deductible. A high WBC sidelined me. I still don't know if my enlarged lymph nodes in my tummy are cancer infection or sclerosis mesenteritis. But finally got a normal WBC and had surgery this year I. February. Not ideal, and I cried a lot over the delay. Spent a lot of time getting doctors to conference with each other- but now it is behind me. I hope for a timely resolution to your situation but I wanted you to know others have had the same frustration. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. I love the Vitamin Water zero - it really helps me get my fluids in. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
