  1. keep us posted, but do give the epsom salts baths a try. the heat as well as the Water helps me. I do yoga too when I get my pinched nerve but since yours is somewhere else, I don't know what poses might help you. I can sympathize though! it is a pain like no other.
  2. oh I hope it heals up quickly! I get a pinched nerve down low in my back (old injury) and get pain down my leg. I find epsom salts baths to be very helpful, does that help you at all?
  3. interesting. my plan calls for 60-100 per day. seems to fall right in line.
  4. oh I think about 5 weeks for me. I don't have any problem with it.
  5. I was told to try to wean off it - and sometimes I had a sour stomach for about 3 months, I would take it and then when I felt that way but haven't needed it at all for about 6 weeks.
  6. I am so sorry you went through all of this. I experienced date rape at 15, but your trauma was much worse. I do believe you can heal from this though, and completely. Thankfully I had a very good friend (pastors wife, a different former boyfriends mom) who really stepped in and counseled me through my recovery. and since I did not want to tell my parents (I was afraid of what my dad might do and end up in jail for) she has kept my secret all these 30 something years. I didn't have any issues with obesity until my 30's and really due to protecting myself against the physical aggression of a disabled son who is much larger than me and going to work outside the home in a sedentary job - but I can certainly understand your emotions that led to your problem. I hope with the WLS you will begin to bloom as you work your way through the process!
  7. I know, right! I have learned so much about the whole fat loss process since my surgery. I wish I had known some of this stuff 10 years ago, but when we know better we do better. so that's where I'm at now.
  8. Did they give you guidelines about what things you should be doing to loose the weight (in a healthy way?) did they offer support for when you are struggling - or just send you home to manage on your own?
  9. sounds like you are ON it! make sure there's plenty of things like TP and dishdetergent in the house. my goal was to not have to go to the store at all for a couple of weeks and just focus on fluids/protein.
  10. yes, that is my thinking too. I'd rather keep my calorie deficit at a certain point and it take longer, than to risk ruining my metabolism just to get there faster. I am loosing overall and that didn't happen before surgery, really.
  11. @@jenn1 I love this! my grands are one of the main reasons I went for the surgery! I want to DO stuff with them!
  12. I have been stalled for several weeks after loosing about 44 pounds or so. it is frustrating - but after a couple of weeks I can tell my body is changing. So, I keep following plan and the scale will move again. Stalls are normal even for people loosing weight without surgery.
  13. I use a different brand that is just peanuts. I add it to my chocolate splendor shake when I am craving a reeses.
  14. oh yes! good plan. I had cooked up 2 weeks of meals for my family ahead of time so they could just heat things. I knew I did NOT want to be cooking until I could eat with them, at least something even if it was soft foods. sometimes I just do taco meat in the crock pot and they have tacos or nachos, and I have the meat, salsa and cheese (and I am satisfied, so I do not feel like I am doing without) and remember - and remind him if needed that in these first few months you will have a lot of hormone dump. some of that may work to his favor, some may work against, but I wouldn't go making any rash judgments about anything in the first 6 months. I have my husband and my best friend to run things by if I am feeling crazy (crazy mad, crazy happy, crazy stupid) if you don't have that, please find one of us who has been through it who you feel comfortable messaging because a lot of people do some really dumb things during that post op period.
  15. I took off the part of a week when my surgery was and one full week. I was approved off for 4 in case anything went wrong - and ended up working 6 hour days the rest of that first month so I could have more time to focus on my diet and walking. or take a nap if needed. after a month I went back to my full schedule.
  16. we still go out to eat - I find almost every place has something I can eat, although I usually take home boxes. it really doesn't bother me if someone else drinks, so if he wants wine, I would just pack the wine in the picnic basket for him. my husband works a physically demanding job, so I'm on my own for the walking/hiking/active things I want to do, but we do have television shows we enjoy watching together and we just enjoy being together so we haven't had any real issues with my lifestyle change. I still cook for my family, usually part of what I can eat and an extra side or two (starch) for them. if you've always cooked for him and don't want to now then that is just something the two of you have to negotiate. I hope the two of you can work your way through these changes.
  17. I am sorry you're dealing with this - I believe it is a very common thing though. you're certainly not alone. I hope that by telling us, your friends here, this will be the second step in your recovery (the first being realizing it yourself). wishing you all the best - please let us know how you are doing.
  18. Hi George, I am sorry you're having a rough go of it right after surgery. This is why I tell people to plan for more time off than they think they need, and to just go back early if all is well. Most of us don't have these issues, but sometimes they happen. I am glad you went in and got this taken care of, and I hope that this week will see things turn around and you feeling better. please come back and let us know how you're doing.
  19. I would just stick with whatever non dairy foods that are not spicy that you feel like eating. because spicy foods don't work out so well with diarrhea. and as long as you're staying hydrated, that's the most important thing. power aid zero - Vitamin Water zero - broth, tea. rest. Ginger tea might well comfort your tummy.
  20. Make sure you also get enough Vitamin c Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. It was 4 weeks for me Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. the reason to wait is so that you and baby will have a better chance at good health. when you are rapidly loosing weight the baby is exposed to whatever is stored in that fat on your body yes, people have gotten pregnant during their first year, but it isn't the best or optimal, and I know that you want what is best for that much wanted little one.
  23. there are some vegan pea Protein options. I did not personally like them, but if you have a whole foods/whole body store near you they usually sell one serving packets so you could try several non soy/non dairy options without having to buy a whole jar.
  24. I have been going round the same 3-4 pounds for about 5 weeks I think. but I am getting smaller, fitting into clothes that did not fit me a few weeks ago. so, it's weird. but find your comfort in other ways. check your nutrition to make sure you're where you should be and just tell the scale to shut up
  25. with the sleeve, it is very manageable to have a proper level of nutrition with that percentage removed as well as hydration. it's really only in the beginning when there is swelling that people can have issues, or if they have a complication like a stricture. I reckon that swelling would be an issue even if they cut less out.
