  1. someone here (sorry I don't remember who) posted on another similar thread that if you know your calories are right (for me 800-1000 per day) and you are getting fluids and Proteins to not worry. the scale WILL move. even if it goes up a bit don't panic when you know you have not consumed enough calories to gain weight.

That alone has helped me more than anything else. so when the scale stops I do a rough average of my calories, Protein and fluids and move on.

I do weigh daily, but I only record it as official once a week.

  2. my husband took two days off work - surgery day and the next day, then was his weekend. He had FMLA in place in case I needed him more, but I didn't. He was prepared to stay in the hospital if needed, but I didn't need him. :-)

I pray your recovery goes as well as mine has. I was up walking when I got in my room, 10 minutes every hour I was awake, helps so much with the gas.

  3. I think they usually want to wait a few months - but it probably depends on what is being done. I had a hysterectomy last August, and VSG in February.

Another doctor had wanted to do a lymph node biopsy in September but we waited because it was too soon after the first surgery, and then later we didn't need to yet, so that was a good thing in the end, stressful at the time.

  4. when they asked me this I said 160 - because honestly I could not even imagine getting lower than that. to get below 200 will be - well, I will be in tears, I know. When I married my hubs 19 years ago I was 180.

To be a perfectly normal weight - to loose all my pregnancy weight before the oldest turns 30 in two years I would need to get to 130. Honestly, anything less than 160 I will consider a success. 130 would blow me away. but it does seem possible now.

Whatever goal you set, it can be adjusted as you go. :-)

  5. its a very striking change, and to people looking at you it may seem too abrupt because we typically associate rapid weight loss with illness, serious illness.

Just keep following your plan! you look great and I am sure you feel fabulous. the only person I would listen to is if your doctor thought it was too fast for some medical reason. :-)

  6. also to add to what the others have said - Never ever. NEVER let yourself speak badly to yourself in a way that you would never speak to a friend. Kindness starts with yourself.

I've never seen a single person that I would not find beautiful. Seriously - we are all so different - but life is magic! and people of all ages are unfathomable miracles.

    And you are darned cute.

It's hard to go through these changes and make adjustments. The last time I was a "normal" weight was more than 20 years ago. What will I look like when I get there? not the same as I did 20 years ago, I can count on that. But I hope the years, and the family, and the road I've traveled will make me more beautiful, even if I look a lot older.

  7. Sounds like you just dropped 200# without any effort! ;)

Seriously though, you CAN do this!

Think of how far you've already come, and look ahead to the day where you'll be able to look back and congratulate yourself for making it through even though it seemed impossible!

Hahaha! If only it was that easy to lose actual weight, I'd be 10K$ richer! ;)

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm looking forward to surgery! I'm just scared of failing because I've failed everytime before, no matter how genuinely motivated I was. All the positivity I'm reading on this forum is kind of helping overcome the self-doubt, though!

We all failed every time we tried to loose weight before, or we wouldn't have had surgery. I am one month post surgery - and I still half expect to wake up and find that it was a mistake and the weight is back on - but I am just putting one foot in front of the other and pressing on with the plan, trusting it to work. So far, so good. Find other ways to pamper and comfort yourself. The joy of a slow walk in the evening - the pleasure of music you love - a nice warm epsom salts bath. there are so many ways to feed ourselves besides carbs. <3 You're worth it.

  8. well. I find that I am putting up with people treating me badly a lot less. in fact I am having to make myself wait to respond lest I overdo it.

Did I put up with more before this journey? are people trying to push me back in an unhealthy place because they are threatened by my weight loss? I don't know. Thankfully this for me, is a workplace issue and not my core relationships.

I don't know yet if I have changed or if they have.

  9. I had a hysterectomy last August and sleeve in February. (they hysterectomy was urgent and not planned) so I believe the could both be safely fit in the same year.

It is a toss up which surgery is my favorite, or changed my life more. I am delighted with both and pray you find a way forward.

  10. I have been using my vitamix for smoothies- gives you the whole veg/fruit - and that was before my sleeve. I did loose weight that way. But now, I am concerned about how you will get enough complete Proteins. I do think having veg and some fruit is good for you - but I think you need more than just the juice.

one of my favorites was a small raw beet, frozen cherries, some red cabbage and ginger. so pretty and tasty. I do not know when, if ever I will be ready for raw beets again, even blended up!

please be kind and careful with your new tummy. let us know how you are doing.

  11. I had the sleeve, so I am generally having a little room for veg, but yes, I like to make things look balanced too, and I use a saucer or small plate to make my serving look more normal, and I bought a few really pretty ones just for me before surgery.

We eat first with our eyes.

I am just so amazed that ONE saucer fills me up, instead of three plates. I am so happy about that!

  12. today was my first day back to work after having restrictions lifted, and I am being treated markedly badly compared to before. My supervisor had asked me to wait to have my surgery and I felt I could not put it off a few months.

There is nothing I can prove, but there was some real ugly treatment today and spread all the way in the schedule this week.,

    Has anyone else experienced this?

I will be spending the evening on job applications.

  13. yes - but I have to admit, I have a dog, and a treadmill, so I have been walking for a long time. I didn't start this new after surgery. :-) however, I find it much easier to walk longer, faster and my distance has doubled easily since surgery. it feels GREAT! and the pup is very happy.
