    Scared to eat different foods

I understand your emotions. in December of 2014 I was diagnosed with diabetes, and I was scared to death to eat fruit. it took my doctor about 3 months to convince me that I had to expand my foods. Follow your plan, add one new food per day, and see how your tummy does. It will be alright. the weight will stall and go stall and go - that is normal, but if your Protein and carbs and fats are where they should be, it will work out just fine.

    So Far !

I used to have a bumper sticker that said, "if I am a stay at home mom, why am I always in the car?"

I have a dilemma! Help please

Thank you for asking. So...the Good...I'm down 11 pounds, I see it in my face and feel it in my body, I was able to wear some "normal" clothes I have (Instead of the "I have no clothes that fit me...so I'm wearing yoga pants and sweatshirt every day" clothes), I can tell my husband notices and likes it, and I feel hopeful again about losing weight after being so defeated by gaining and not being able to lose. The Bad...I'm hungry... a lot... it has been hard for me to do the clear liquids since surgery day (I didn't have to do a pre-op diet), I'm tired (this is my second surgery in 8 weeks), I miss my food routine, and it seems like every where I look, TV, billboard, internet...show people eating or food. But, truly the good outweighs the bad, and I feel so blessed that my insurance paid for this surgery. I now it will get easier when I can eat. I am so excited for you! I was hungry for about 10 - 12 days post sleeve - once I started on soft foods, very little fills me up and I am almost never hungry anymore. I hope it will be the same for you.

My 600 Pound Life: 2016 Season

I feel like the show helped me in so many ways to prepare for surgery. to be real about where I was heading - even the shower scenes. I am forever thankful to those who would allow themselves to be shown so that I could get it. every time I watch hoping for the success of the person who is the subject of that episode.

    Anesthesia.........

please please talk to your team about the anxiety. chances are they can give you something right away or even the night before to help you deal with that, and help you through the process. I rather enjoy that aspect of surgery. I have 7 children, and honestly it's the best sleep I've had in 30 years.

My APPROVAL story with BCBS Federal (TX)

I also had surgery with BCBS Federal, standard. I had to do 3 months of PCP supervised diet. Thankfully the weight loss center I went to had NUT and psych in the same umbrella, so each time I go and see who I need to see it is only one copay. all together it will end up costing me about 1000, copays were at the time of visit, and 350 surgery prepay. Not bad to change my life forever, I reckon I will save that in food this year alone.
  10. before my sleeve I was ALWAYS hungry, no matter what eating plan, no matter the level of activity. I am kind of amazed I held my weight as low as I did, all things considered, but I didn't eat processed foods, or a lot of junk. I was just HUNGRY. 2 weeks out, I am occasionally mildly hungry, NOTHING like before and very little food fills me up and I am SATISFIED. I doubt this GP has ever had this kind of struggle. I wish you all the best, and hope you find a doctor who will support you.

    Sleeved feb 16

I had the sleeve on February 17 - I am just now starting soft foods - REFRIED Beans have never tasted sooooooooooooo good. :-) so, beans, cheese, I can have fish but I don't care for it. anything kind of mushy in my mouth. but REAL food. I am full quickly which amazes me, and I stay feeling full. no problem for me waiting to eat a half hour - because I don't really want anything else for at least that long. I am still having one Protein shake per day just to boost my protein intakes because I can't eat very much food. I am down about 12 pounds and it feels excruciatingly slow, but I am in this for the long haul

I have a dilemma! Help please

I have a desk job NO complications at all, and I could have gone back after a few days - I did go back after a week, and at my choice limited to 6 hour days for the first month, only because I usually get pulled for more overtime than I like. If you don't have OT concerns, then a full day of a desk job would be fine - assuming no complications. I am able to have Water or other drink at my desk, and even eat my Snacks there.

I just want to tell you this is the most helpful response I have read to this kind of topic. Bless you.

    Weightloss Per Week?

My doctor says that after the first month, the initial drop in those fat stores and Water weight, you can expect to loose between 8 and 10 pounds a month. I thought of ww too because they say 1-2 pounds a week. I have been on ww for 20 years and I have never lost that much consistently! I lost about 40 pounds once on ww and it was an average of 6 pounds a month but I didnt keep if off and it slowly came back on, even though I kept on with ww. I just got lazy and didnt keep it up as diligentlly as I should have. I am not saying ww doesnt work, I am saying its a tool, just like the sleeve is. Its not a miracle that you dont have to do anything and POOF the weight is gone. You still have to think about Protein first and getting your water, etc. Its a great tool because its restrictive and you cant gobble down everything you once did. You have to work your tool and there are very few people who have lost 2 to 2.5 pounds a week on ww consitently (the key word here). If they did, it would have worked for many of us who have tried and tried and failed. Its your decision but dont be delusioned into thinking that its an easy fix or that you dont have to be careful what you eat after the surgery. Its working great for me and I love that I am not hungry and it makes me able to make better choices and not stuff myself. I have been more successful in the first two months than I ever have with anything else. I lost 11 pounds in the past month and I think thats pretty good, for a total of 37 since surgery 8/8. thats two months and three days. It took me five months to loose that with ww and I gained all back DOUBLE within a few years. This for me is a more permanent solution to keeping my weight off and being healthy. Good luck to you! I am so thankful I saw your post. your signature line has been very helpful to me. I am 2 weeks out and only down 11-12 pounds and seem to be having my "3 week" stall a bit early. I walk, and walk and walk, and have been good with my protein and fluids - it is frustrating to hear you loose the most at the beginning and then you aren't loosing.

Weight Loss Stall at 2 weeks Post-op

It will. Just be patient, follow your program, and stay off the scale. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall Thank you, I do understand - but it is so difficult. very challenging, and every little noise my family makes is driving me mad. :-) must be the hormones I've heard about.

Weight Loss Stall at 2 weeks Post-op

all I can think at 2 weeks out is, I have gone through all of this for 15 pounds? it is depressing. I just keep on going and hope it changes. I know you are all saying it will - but it is hard to believe it.
