    Can I eat/drink?

I was on full liquid diet when I came home from the hospital - so Protein shakes would be ok. you do want something like Premier Protein or unjury rather than Ensure or slim fast.
  2. at 7 months out 2-3 servings, although I plan to begin adding back in my twice weekly "green" smoothies , which will boost that number to 5 or 6 on days when I have the green smoothie. Breakfast is almost always straight up Protein - but lunch and dinner my plate is usually half lean protein, half non starchy veg. one of my Snacks is usually protein and fruit daily. further out they want half the plate veg, 1/4 lean protein and 1/4 starch - but I'm not there yet. That's the way my bariatric team's plan is structured.

    Tickers

YES! very helpful when questions are asked.
  4. you could also make your own jello with unflavored gelatin and vitamin water zero, I'd think and it is easy to make your own sugar free puddings and then add protein powder to it, plenty of recipes, but I wouldn't make any of those ahead of time, just have what you need on hand.
  5. yup. I make the vast majority of my food myself - little to no waste and I control what is in it. before surgery I made up some bone broth and froze it in big ice cube trays, then transferred to zip lock bags. I also made some chili and froze it in wee little containers. even my no sugar applesauce was some that my daughter canned last fall. now I make my own little frozen dinners in wee augratian pans, freeze them and I always have portion right servings to take to eat on my meal break at work.

    Water Question

I've seen other people mention that - I was just temperature sensitive. It should get a little better each day and then one day be fine.

It absolutely makes NO freaking sense to me... **MY RANT**

you don't find this sort of a thread to be ridiculing in and of it's self?
  8. I did not have a rule about not gaining weight - I would think once you are approved you are approved, but I don't know if this is an insurance rule or a rule at the bariatric practice you are using. I did not have any trouble taking my pills after surgery but I did take them one at a time. congrats on getting approved!

    Who decides surgery type?

hopefully you and your surgeon will go over the risks and benefits (depending on your personal needs) and you will both feel the same surgery is the correct one for you.
  10. a couple of things to keep in mind in the coming weeks a lot of us have crazy hormones right after surgery - for me up till about 4 1/2 months. unreasonably sad at times, madder than usual, after my husband like crazy. it's not typically a time to make changes to your life without at least filtering those decisions through someone unbiased whom you trust. and it is always a good idea when one has a partner, to warn them ahead of time about the good and the bad aspects of that hormone dump. secondly, I find the better I am at self care, the more appropriate boundaries I have in my life and the better I am at caring for the people I care about - so hoping at the end of the day this will improve all y'all's lives
  11. hopefully he just is a little bit clueless. However, if you have no complications, you should be fine unless it is too hot. then dehydration could be an issue. I didn't have a hernia repair or anything and I just got tired a little more easily at that point. There's just no way to know ahead of time how your recovery would be - so I'd have a back up plan, i.e. if tickets have to be purchased who else could go with him if you are just not up to it?

    Messed up

Contemplating a turkey pureed burger now - can't think of any way it'd be edible. I go to mushys next week. Hmm. I'm wondering - maybe some ground turkey with a tish of thousand island dressing? could be reminiscent of a big mac?? LOL I might give it a try!@@Christinamo7 has a recipe like that - not sure for what stage. I do modify a recipe online for a "Big Mac Salad" I use my ground sirloin/ground turkey breast blend, heat some up and melt cheddar on it. I put a very small amount of shredded romaine lettuce in my wee bowl, then add the meat/cheese and top it with a few drops of thousand island dressing, one green onion chopped up and one pickle chopped up and add some sesame seeds. really hits the spot there is no reason you couldn't use all ground beef or all ground turkey depending on your personal preference. for my plan I was allowed all this after 4 weeks.
  13. I think I'd want to go to the dietician associated with the surgeon you are now seeing for follow up at least once to see how you get on and to see what sort of advice they favor. if it isn't a good fit, try out the Y. but I think it is unlikely that the Y will have experience with your bariatric needs.

    Quick Question..

@@Babbs the "why aren't you loosing weight" is an interesting talk.

    Quick Question..

I loved coca cola before surgery - and was pleased to have given up soda - and then my Vitamin B levels came back too high at my 3 month and 6 month check ups. so my vitamin Water zero has become an occasional treat rather than daily beverage. I know, a lot of people just drink water, and don't get me wrong I love to drink water, but sometimes you want something else - so a couple of weeks ago I picked up some stevia sweetened soda from the grocery store, and have been tolerating them without any problem at all. and right now, I have a terrible head cold, and wow does that icy cold carbonation feel good on my throat. I have no idea how it would affect someone with a pouch, but I had the sleeve and it isn't going to stretch, so I do not worry about that at all.

    To many stalls

I would say your 500 calories days are way to low especially when you're working out - and might need to try to up the Protein and calories a bit. that being said, I lost pretty steady on until 4 months (stopping here or there but less than a week) - then stalled for TWO MONTHS. and now loosing again, slowly, but I'm loosing. your body has a lot to adjust to and the stalls may be due to not enough calories/protein, but could just as easily be your body doing other things which is all a part of the process. At this point I know that before surgery during that two month stall I would have gained back what I lost instead of holding steady but I just kept following the plan and knew eventually the scale would have to give way.

    PB2

Sometimes I add it to my chocolate shake for a Reese's flavor. Good stuff. I got an organic brand at TJ maxx this last go round that I like just as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Excited with results

wonderful! It's the best feeling to be taken off medications, isn't it? sometimes I take my blood sugar just for the fun of it to see a normal reading. My last A1c was 5.4 and diabetes is no longer listed on my medical record as a current illness.

    Protein Shakes

I like the unjury chocolate - I use fairlife milk, somtimes add 1/3 of a banana, sometimes I add Peanut Butter powder, sometimes espresso powder. yum yum

    Alcohol?

if you wouldn't rub alcohol on an external wound this early, then you should probably not rub it on an internal wound this early. I personally think you'll regret it this soon out.

    To many stalls

it can drive you MAD can't it? honestly I was crazy frustrated until I got to a certain point in my weight loss before I could relax and know for sure that it would keep going once the stall was done. how long ago was your surgery? what are your stats? how are you doing with drinking and getting Protein? try to focus on the things you can control rather than the scale (I know it is hard)

    Large boned. ..

it has been amazing to me as the weight comes off to remember how small my frame is under there. I have no idea where my bones fit as far as averages go, but they are a lot more petite than I remember. which is nice. makes me feel girly! sometimes it's still quite a shock if I rest my chin in my palm on the desk to feel my jaw without all that fat there. so you never know what you will find as the weight falls off. you might surprise yourself. although at your height you won't be petite, you'll just be perfectly you. @@Inner Surfer Girl I too love that picture for so many reasons.

    Calories

as long as your nutrition labs are good, you're tired because behind the scenes your body is extremely busy breaking down fat stores, and flushing out garbage. you may not feel terribly active, but inside you really are! in addition to not having a bunch of carbs - it's normal. so rest when you need to and know that the tiredness should go away when the weight loss slows down.

    Drinking coffee?

there are a lot of different plans out there. I was allowed after a few weeks and I have my cup of coffee daily. it allows me to dress myself and use grown up manners.
