Esophageal Manometry for GERD and Esophageal Spasms
I recently had an esophageal manometry, and it was by far the worst test that I've endured! I had to have 10 consecutive uninterrupted swallows. The numbing spray wore off half way through the test, which was painful. My test lasted for about 1 hr 15 mins because I couldn't get 10 consecutive sips and swallows without the intermittent swallows by nature. Smh I felt like I was choking the entire time! My RN was extremely nice and considerate, which helped, a little. Yet and still, I will NOT have that test again! I'm currently awaiting results to determine whether or not the sleeve or bypass would be most appropriate. Dawnie_doo

Esophageal Manometry
I recently had an esophageal manometry, and much like you, it was by far the worst test that I've endured! There were minor differences...I had 10 swallows instead of 12. The numbing spray wore off half way through the test, which was painful. My test lasted for about 1 hr 15 mins because I couldn't get 10 consecutive sips and swallows without the intermittent swallows by nature. Smh I felt like I was choking the entire time! I'm currently awaiting results to determine whether or not the sleeve or bypass would be most appropriate. Dawnie_doo

Stopped losing at 11 months post op
Track your food. There are many apps for Android and iPhone. Read the nutrition labels. The "look of food" will definitely fool you! Drink more water! Dawnie_doo

Atlanta: Anyone else starting the process?
I'm not in Atlanta, I'm in NJ. However it seems like we're at the same point in our journey. My info was submitted to insurance recently. My Dr said insurance may deny, requiring one more visit. At that point I would have the visit and resubmit. Other than that, I should get approved. I'm nervous too, but hopeful! Dawnie_doo

Psych evaluation- what is it like?
I LOVED my psych evaluation. I'm a therapist so I walked in thinking she couldn't tell me anything new. I was soooo wrong! She asked questions about my history as a child related to my weight, my support system, family history, etc. I actually realized that, although family was present, they weren't very supportive at all. My evaluation was very eye opening. I will go back after the surgery, I'm sure! Dawnie_doo

Pregnancy- After Sleeve
I want to have one after the sleeve. The doctor told me to wait at least a year to not add complications in the mix. Since hormones will be raging from what I hear lol the doc said be careful not to get pregnant right away. Dawnie_doo

Hair Loss
I'm wondering if age is a factor. Are you younger? Dawnie_doo

Hair Loss
Just curious, what did the doctor say about hormones? I know that surgery has it's impact. But is it also related to age? Did he recommend anything, or is it just part for the course? Dawnie_doo

Unflavored Isopure protein powder
I'm pre-op and Isopure didn't agree with me. It gave me headaches. There's a much higher sodium content than the Bariatric Advantage. Bariatric Advantage was about $10 more but to me it was worth me feeling better plus a much much much better taste Lol. My husband uses the Isopure now. Dawnie_doo

HIPPA Violation
OMG I would be mortified! I would definitely report the violation! Ask your Dr for their HIPAA info and call the number in that info to report. They HAVE to provide you with that information. Dawnie_doo

Esophageal Manometry
I just had to have an esophageal manometry completed to assess for swallowing and GERD. It was very traumatic for me! OMG I can't even explain! Has anyone else had this test? If the pressure in the esophagus comes back too high then I can't have the sleeve. I'll have to switch to the bypass which I don't want. Thoughts? Input? Dawnie_doo

Friends and Family?!
I have gone through this. My husband is very supportive. However I haven't told many about the surgery. I've already heard "you're gonna get too skinny" or "you'll look sick". So I opted not to go any further with sharing info. I feel like it's a huge step for me and I need all of the positivity that I can get! I already battle my own thoughts. Smh No need for more anxiety. Moving forward with God and positive thoughts! Dawnie_doo
